Well, we're talking so much about it, may as well make it official. It's the 2nd Day of Advent. We got our tree over the weekend. We always get it Thanksgiving weekend. I decorated the tree and the mantel, among my favorite things to do each year. I wrapped some presents too. Ron and I have a tradition where we write clues on each other's gift tags and, on Christmas, the other person has to guess what's in the package before opening it. I usually draw a holiday picture on the gift tag, but I'm no artist. It's just fun. I'm also no wrapper. My packages look like they were wrapped by Edward Scissorhands. So I have a question. Anybody out there know about live trees? Ours is not drinking up any water this year. Usually, when we put it in the tree stand and fill it with water, the tree drinks a lot of water the first few days. The water level hasn't gone down at all. I'm a bit concerned. What is Advent?

Tree looks so much better with presents under it. And I'm happy to report that despite its initial lack of thirst, the tree has served us well and is still going strong. And the mantle…

We had a lovely time at the Christmas eve party, although Ron was not quite his usual self as he was under the weather and so tired from working 9 straight days. The desserts I made were gobbled up. They were really good. Our neighbor's 9 year old grandson kept checking his smartphone and giving us NORAD updates on Santa's location. He was so excited. It is fun to see Christmas through the eyes of children.

Glad you had a good time at the party Kpatch. Your tree and mantle look very festive. We had a fun evening. We opened presents tonight. I didn't want to have to be rushed in the morning before we head to the in laws. Merry Christmas everyone!!

All presents are wrapped and under the tree. Hubby is napping and will be up in a few hours to start the cinnamon rolls. Peppermint, our elf on the shelf, has made it back to the North Pole.
Merry Christmas!!

I got out of going to my in-laws for Xmas Eve (hubby went on his own)...I went to work instead...was very happy with that!
And now I get to spend Xmas doing absolutely nothing, not even cooking!!!...hope to be crafting and writing and catching up on TV all day. Sounds like a perfect Xmas to me.
And the best part is I didn't even bother decorating the house or putting up the tree this year, work was too hectic, so now I won't have to take down anything. Everyone got gift cards or cash, so no wrapping. I can't believe how low stress it has been. I LOVE IT! I might do this every year.
I hope everyone has a great day!

We have had a wonderful Christmas morning, leisurely waffle breakfast followed by the ceremonial opening of the gifts. Turkey just went in the oven. It's just me and Ron today and that's the way we like it. I made an extra batch of desserts for us when I made the desserts for the Christmas eve party yesterday so we have plenty of yummy sweets in store.
Merry Christmas to all.

It should be nice except I feel lousy. Patrick made breakfast enchiladas this morning. Then we opened our gifts and pretty soon the ham will start to be baked. I am making the sides, at least I hope to..All I want to do to crawl up and go to sleep. There are a few cookies left. Thank god there are not a lot of sweets or I would eat them.

Merry Christmas to everyone! I have enjoyed this thread and everyone's pictures! We took our time opening gifts this morning, which was a nice change from years past. Everyone loved their gifts and I received a new laptop, wonderful additions to my rock and mineral collection, fuzzy jammies from my little girl and the complete Family Ties series. What more could a gal ask for? Preparing the entire meal today for our family of 16 (two turkeys, two hams and many veggies, homemade bread, salads and desserts) and will be heading to my parents for the family get together. We've had widespread power outages over the last week due to a terrible ice-storm and thankfully we have been blessed with electricity so that our family can still enjoy a Christmas meal! I hope everyone enjoys their day doing what they want to and has made some wonderful memories! Looking forward to getting to know you all better in the new year!
