This is an excellent story, well written, wonderful character development, good theme, draws the reader in immediately and doesn't let go till the end (and with this one, I know it will hold me well after the end)....bravo to the writer for an excellent job.... But it's killing me......it's one of those stories where I don't want to read anymore because it is personally painful for me, but I must because I don't want to miss such a beautiful story......
Love you for sharing with us kpatch.......

BO AND HOPE’S HOME Bo answers the door and Maggie walks in.Maggie: Bo, we need to talk. Bo: I agree. I’m glad you came because I was going to call you. Maggie: Oh? Bo: I need to talk to you about Victor. Maggie: That’s what I need to talk to you about. Bo: If you don’t mind, I’ll go first. Maggie: By all means. Bo: You ... and my fatherMaggie: Is that what you want to talk to me about? Bo: He’s not ... Maggie: He’s not what? Bo: He’s not Mickey. Maggie: Don’t you think I know that? Bo: Yea, but ... Maggie: I don’t want him to be Mickey. I had a wonderful life with Mickey and my relationship with Victor does not negate that! Bo: Relationship I’m kinda speechless here. Maggie: Good, because I’m done talking to you about my private life. Bo: Look, I didn’t mean to get personal, Maggie. I’m just looking out for your best interest. Maggie softens.Maggie: Oh sweetie, I know you mean well, but I’m fine. Really. Bo: He’d better not hurt you. Maggie: I’m a big girl. I can take care of myself. The woman I’m worried about is your mother. Bo: I’m worried about her too. Maggie: Then why are you being such a bullheaded idiot? To be continued tomorrow ...

BO AND HOPE’S HOME
Maggie: I’m a big girl. I can take care of myself. The woman I’m worried about is your mother. Bo: I’m worried about her too. Maggie: Then why are you being such a bullheaded idiot? Bo: Huh? Maggie: Victor offered to pay for your mother’s care. Why aren’t you taking him up on it? Bo: She’s not his responsibility. She’s our responsibility. Mine and Roman’s and my sisters’. Why are you looking at me that way? Maggie: You all want what’s best for your mother, don’t you? Bo: What the hell kind of question is that? Maggie: This could be a win-win for everyone. You, your mother, Victor. Think about it.
THE NEXT DAY AT THE KIRIAKIS MANSION
Henderson: Hello Commissioner. Come in. I’ll tell Mr. Kiriakis you’re here. Victor enters the study. Victor: Bo. Good to see you. Can I get you a drink. Bo: Not unless you’ve got a beer. Victor: As a matter of fact, we do. He reaches into the wine cooler, pulls out a beer, and hands it to Bo. Bo smiles wryly as he takes the beer and twists off the cap. Bo: It’s even my favorite brand! Victor: Now you can come over more often. Bo: Listen, Victor. I’ve been thinking about your offer to help out with Ma’s care. Victor: Good. Bo: I’ve got mixed feelings about it. But I hate the thought of her living in that nursing home. Victor: I agree. What would be your ideal situation? Bo: If she were able to stay in her own place. Or live with us. But our place isn’t big enough for me, Hope, Ciara, Ma and live-in nursing help. Victor: You mean your current home isn’t big enough. Bo: What do you mean by “current” home? Victor: You could move into a bigger place. Bo: Oh sure. Victor: I’ll help you. I’ll give you money for a bigger house and I’ll pay for round-the-clock care for Caroline. Bo remembers his conversation with Maggie, but readers are spared from enduring the flashback. Bo: Hmmm. You know, Hope and I were talking about moving into another house. Victor: I take it fumigation didn’t get rid of Carly’s ... shall we say ... aura. Bo: Hey! Victor: Sorry. Bo: Actually, that was a good one. And you’re right. Between Carly and the lighter fluid, we were thinking about making a fresh start in a new place. Victor: Perfect!

SALEM UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL, NURSE’S STATION
Victor gets off the elevator and sees Daniel at the nurse’s station. Victor: Ah, just the person I was hoping to see. Daniel: Victor. What ... can I do ... for you? Victor: You may have heard that Caroline Brady has Alzheimers Disease. Daniel: Yes, I heard. Victor: That could be what caused her to make the very uncharacteristic decision to switch Parker’s paternity test results. Daniel: I suppose that’s a possibility. You want me to drop the charges against her? Victor: Yes. I also want you to find a cure for Alzheimer’s Disease. I'll provide the funding. Daniel: Victor ... Alzheimer’s is a very complicated disease. I can’t just ... whip up a cure ... in an hour. Victor: How much time do you need? Daniel: Give me a day. I’ll come up with something. Victor: Good man.
KIRIAKIS MANSION
Victor returns home to find Brady in the living room.
Victor: Bah. What do you want? Brady: I have a proposition for you Granddad. Victor: Not interested. Brady: Hear me out. Please. I ... I need your help. Victor: Why am I not surprised? Brady: I have the know-how to run Titan, but not the history. Victor: You mean you have no experience. Brady has a flashback to his conversation with Maggie.
***Flashback*** Brady: He’s in his 70s. He needed to retire. Maggie: Maybe. Maybe not. But regardless of what you think, that decision is something that he needed to make for himself. Brady: He was never going to retire. Maggie: You’ve hurt him deeply, you know. In more ways than you can imagine. Don’t you care? ***End of Flashback***
Brady: I was wrong to cut you off completely. I’d like to hire you on. Victor: Hire me??? Brady: I’d like you to be my consultant. Victor: Consultant my eye. Brady: Look, if I hire you back in any other role, you’ll take over. I want to run Titan, but you can still be a key contributor to my company’s success. To our company’s success. Victor: Hmmm. I might consider it. I want to see the formal offer first. In writing.
To be continued. Tune in tomorrow for the finale ...

Catching up on the recent chapters. Loved the line about not removing the aura of Carly! ;D And I liked the scene with Brady and Victor. It sounds like they're trying to work out their differences. Very good. Looking forward to the finale!

KIRIAKIS MANSION, THE NEXT DAY
Daniel arrives. Victor: Did you discover a cure for Alzheimer's Disease, Daniel? Daniel: I tried Victor, but there is no cure. Victor: Damn! Daniel: I did, however, confer with Dr. Patel and he prescribed Aricept for Caroline. It’s a drug that has proven successful for a lot of Alzheimers patients. I just dropped it off at Bo’s house.
ONE MONTH LATER, VICTOR’S CAR
Victor and Maggie are driving home after visiting Caroline.
Maggie: Bo and Hope’s new home is lovely! I’m so happy they took you up on your offer. Victor: Bo was uncomfortable taking money from me, so we structured it as a mortgage and he’s making monthly payments to me. Whatever makes him comfortable, that’s what I want to do. Maggie: You’re a good man, Victor. Victor: There aren’t a lot of people who think so. Maggie: There aren’t a lot of people who know you as well as I do. Victor: What did you think about Caroline? Maggie: It’s like a miracle. She seems so much more like herself than she did when she was at the nursing home. Victor: The medication is working. Maggie: So is her environment. Being around family is the best medicine. And Caroline’s presence seems to be good for Bo, Hope, and Ciara too. Victor: Being around people you love can work magic. Maggie smiles at Victor. Maggie: I agree. Victor: Speaking of environment ... Maggie, I’ve been wanting to talk to you about our living arrangements. It seems like we spend so much time together, well, I was hoping I might persuade you to move into the mansion. Maggie: I’ve been thinking the same thing. Victor: Excellent! I’ll contact a mover right away. Maggie: Not so fast, big guy. Victor: Huh? Maggie: As much as I love you and I love being with you, I just don’t see myself living at the mansion. Victor: Oh. Maggie: Please don’t look so crestfallen, Victor. I can’t picture you living at my house either. But I cherish our time together. Victor: So what’s the solution? Should we get a place together? Maggie: No, I don’t think that’s the answer. We’re both independent people with our own lives. Victor: Very true. Maggie: So, I propose ... Victor: You propose??? Maggie: Sorry, bad choice of word. I say we should continue doing what we’re doing. I mean, it’s working, right? Victor: Indeed it is.
The End
