Great chapter. So glad that someone is taking Brady to task for what he did to Victor. Wonder what they are going to find out about Caroline. Serving Chow Main. I did not know that was even on the menu at the Pub. Thanks for the chapter Kpatch. Tomorrow is my last day then I am on the road to Cody. Will have to read the rest when I get back.

Best line of the day to Caroline: "I'm more sane than you and your brother put together." Amen, sister. Amen.

SALEM UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL, NEUROLOGY, EXAMINATION ROOM
Dr. Patel: Sorry to keep you waiting, Mrs. Brady. I’m Dr. Patel. Caroline: They told me I didn’t need to change into a dressing gown. But if you think I do, I will. I always have to change into a dressing gown. Dr. Patel: You are fine the way you are Mrs. Brady. Caroline: Who do I talk to about the dressing gowns? They’re just awful. They leave nothing to the imagination. A patient deserves a little dignity, you know. Dr. Patel: This isn’t that kind of examination, Mrs. Brady. Mostly, I will be asking you a series of questions. Caroline: Like a test? Dr. Patel: Yes, exactly. Caroline: I hate tests. I never do well. Except for Jeopardy. Do you know Alex Trebek? Dr. Patel: No ma’am. Caroline: The only answer I ever get right is the Final Jeopardy one. Actually, it’s not the answer. It’s the question. Like “What Is Serbia?” Dr. Patel: This test has no right or wrong answers. You don’t need to be nervous. Caroline: How am I supposed to feel? My son thinks I’m crazy. Dr. Patel: Why don’t we begin? Tell me your name. Caroline: Are you blind? It’s on the chart. Dr. Patel: What is your birth date? Caroline: That’s personal. Dr. Patel: You don’t have to tell me the year. Caroline: April 13th. Dr. Patel: What is today’s date? Caroline: April 13th. Dr. Patel: Who is the current president of the United States? Caroline: Abe Lincoln Carver. Dr. Patel: Who was the first president? Caroline: Abe Washington Carver. Dr. Patel. Spell the word “World.” Caroline: W-O-R-L-D. Dr. Patel: Now please spell World backwards. Caroline: D. Um. D-R-L-O. Dr. Patel: What is my name? Caroline: Doctor ... um. Do you know Dr. Jonas? He’s my regular doctor. I think he’s a neurologist too. He does everything.

Wow. Poor Caroline. She is not doing very well. I also wonder what is wrong with her. Maybe she is being given a drug to make her lose her mind and therefore not remembering Victor. That way no competition for Maggie.

SALEM UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL, NEUROLOGY, CONSULTATION ROOM
Dr. Patel: Based on my evaluation, I would say your mother is in Stage 3 or 4 of Alzheimer’s Disease. Bo: What does that mean? Dr. Patel: Alzheimer’s is typically classified in 7 stages. Your mother has past the early stages, but she is still able to function without assistance. Tell me about her lifestyle. Bo: Ma runs a restaurant. The Brady Pub. She volunteers at St. Mary’s and University Hospital. She goes to church every week. Switches paternity tests. And she babysits all the time. Dr. Patel: Does she live alone? Bo: Basically, yes. She lives above the Pub. Dr. Patel: I think you should consider having someone live with her. Bo: Is it that bad? Dr. Patel: Not yet, but it would be best if someone were around to look after her as her health declines. Bo: You make it sound like there’s no cure. Dr. Patel: That’s correct. There is no cure. There are drugs I can prescribe that will help some of the symptoms, such as forgetfulness, but there is no way to stop the progression of the disease. Bo: Jeez. Dr. Patel: Here is some literature for you to read from the Alzheimer’s Association, along with the website and information about support groups … both for the patient and for the family. He looks at his pager. I have to take this. Please do not hesitate to call me if you have further questions.
KIRIAKIS MANSION
Daniel: I just went down to the police station to file a complaint about the paternity test switch. Victor: Good! We want the person responsible to be charged to the full extent of the law. Daniel: Wait ... ‘til you ... hear this. The officer on duty told me the case was closed. Victor: Closed??? I didn’t know it had even been opened. I’m calling Bo. We’re going to get to the bottom of this. Daniel: Put down ... your phone, Victor. Bo’s the one who closed the case. Victor: What did you say???
To be continued ...
Looking ahead: Tune in tomorrow for a grrreat scene with Maggie and Victor!

Somehow, Caroline's Alzheimer's isn't all that surprising. It's funny how this reads as all the stuff that happened off camera. Helps fills in the holes. Thanks kpatch! :-)

Maybe I should be tested because I don't think Caroline sounds that "off" for Salem - she still seems as "normal" as anyone else there. I love how the neurologist didn't blink an eye at Bo casually including the switching of paternity tests as a part of Caroline's regular routine.
Thanks Kpatch - great chapters!!

Well, you think Caroline's family will step up to the plate or be like they were about money in a previous story...

KIRIAKIS MANSION, VICTOR’S STUDY
Maggie: You seem distracted, Victor. Victor: Sorry. A lot on my mind. Maggie: Well, if this is a bad time for you to look at my books, we can do it another time. Victor: No, we can do it now. Maggie: What is it, Victor? What’s on your mind? Victor: I’m thinking about my son. Maggie: You miss Philip, don’t you? Victor: Philip? Oh, yes, of course. Not a day goes by where I don’t think about him. But it’s Bo I’m worried about. I left him a message and ... Maggie: What’s wrong with Bo? Victor: Sometimes he does things that defy logic. One of these days he’s going to get himself into a situation he simply cannot get out of. Maggie: You’re being cryptic again. I don’t understand what you mean. Victor: If you don’t mind, I’d like to drop the subject. Maggie takes Victor’s hand. Maggie: I’m here when you’re ready to talk about it. Victor: Thank you, Maggie. And I’m well aware that you’re only asking for my advice about your records because you don’t want me to feel useless. Maggie: What? I’m doing no such thing! Victor: You’re a terrible liar. Maggie: Victor Kiriakis! You are the least useless man I’ve ever known. Victor chuckles. Victor: Thank you. I think. ... But, I know you have an accountant for your business, and a lawyer, and a tax advisor. You don’t need me putting in my two cents. Maggie: Your two cents are more valuable than most. Victor looks at Maggie intently. He catches her eye and she realizes he means business.
