Chapter 10

JACK & JENNIFER'S HOUSE
J.J. had come downstairs and was now sitting on the couch. Opposite him was Jennifer in a chair and Jack in his wheelchair. The two were looking at J.J.
J.J.: You guys gonna get to the point anytime soon?
JACK: The point, son, is that we want an explanation.
J.J.: Well, you aren't getting one.
JENNIFER: I'm sure there's a perfectly reasonable explanation for all this.
J.J.: There is. Not that you'll ever hear it.
JACK: And why not?
J.J.: Because you don't deserve to know.
JACK: J.J., we are your parents. We deserve to know what's going on in your life. And this attitude, plus the drugs, is getting you into very big trouble. Now, your mother and I asked you a simple question: why do you have drugs in your bag? We would like an answer.
J.J.: Okay. Since you absolutely have to know apparently, I'll tell you.

Shane had left the hospital a while ago and he and Kimberly were now with Theresa.
KIMBERLY: We need to talk about this at some point.
THERESA: Why?
SHANE: Because it's important. Look, there's no one here but us, you're grandmother's asleep, just talk to us.
THERESA: Okay. Do you have any leads yet?
SHANE: None. You?
THERESA: I know exactly who it is. And since I've been making everyone in town think I'm a total brat, this person won't suspect a thing.

SALEM UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL
Marlena was at her desk, looking at the website for This Man.
MARLENA (thinking): I've seen him before, but never in my dreams. Where have I seen This Man?

Oh I am glad Theresa is actually helping her parents.

THERESA: Since I've been making the whole town think I'm a brat, this person won't suspect a thing.
SHANE: Great. So, who is it?
THERESA: Jack Deveraux, Jr.
KIMBERLY: J.J.? Why would he be a dealer?
THERESA: I don't know why. I only know that he is.
SHANE: Well, good work, Jeannie. After this bust, you may become an agent.
THERESA: Thanks, dad. But, can you please call me Theresa? I don't want to blow my cover until after the case.
SHANE: Of course. So, do you know where he is?
THERESA: I have a pretty good idea. I'll take you to him.

JACK & JENNIFER'S HOUSE
J.J.: I've been holding them.
JENNIFER: See, Jack? I told you he was just holding them.
JACK: No, I don't think so. There's more to it than that. That one night, at your mother's book club. You laced those doughnuts with weed.
J.J.: Did I?
JACK: Don't play dumb with me, young man. All I can say is that you're in very big trouble. Now, go upstairs. Your mother and I still need to discuss this.
J.J.: Whatever.
J.J. walked back upstairs.
JENNIFER: Jack, this is so unlike him.
JACK: Jenn, I'm sorry to say, but the evidence has been staring us in the face for months. I can't believe we only just noticed.
There was a knock on the door.
JENNIFER: I'll get it.
Jennifer opened the door to reveal Theresa.
JENNIFER: Theresa, what are you doing here?
THERESA: I came to see J.J.
JENNIFER: Well, I'm sorry to tell you, but J.J.'s grounded.
THERESA: No, Zi don't think you quite understand, I need to see him.
Theresa pulled outa badge. Shane and Kimberly walked up behind her.
THERESA: Agent-in-Training, currently Junior Agent Jeannie Donovan, ISA.

So glad that Jeannie is going to be the one to bust JJ. Wonder when Narkene is going to remember who This Man is!! Can't wait to find out!!!

Chapter 12

SALEM UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL
It is now the next day. Marlena was continuing her seminar from yesterday.
MARLENA: Their primary concern, at all times, was the child's well-being. However, they wanted to prove the Lennenberg Hypothesis wrong. And, to find out what they did to try to prove it wrong, you'll have to wait until tomorrow. Class dismissed.
As the students shuffled out of the room, Marlena got a good look at one of their faces. His lips were thin, he had a receding hairline, and he had bushy eyebrows. It was the same man who had answered her question about the forbidden experiment a few days ago. He looked very similar to This Man.
MARLENA: Ben, could you come here, please?
Ben walked over to Marlena.
BEN: Yes, Dr. Evans?
MARLENA: Have you ever seen this picture?
Marlena showed him one of the drawings of This Man.
MARLENA: A number of patients of mine claim to have seen This Man before. Have you ever seen him?
BEN: It looks like me. Not completely identical, but nearly. How did you get a picture of me?

SALEM COUNTY JAIL
J.J. sat in a cell. He was reflecting on the events of the previous day.

JACK & JENNIFER'S HOUSE
J.J. was sitting in his room. Suddenly the door opened at Jeannie (who up until now had gone by Theresa) walked in.
J.J.: Theresa? What are you doing here?
JEANNIE: It's Jeannie. I've gone back to using my first name now. Put your hands out.
J.J. put his hands out. Jeannie put hem in handcuffs.
J.J.: What the hell are you doing?
JEANNIE: Arresting a wanted drug dealer and repeat offender.
J.J.: Okay, Theresa, this joke has gone far enough.
JEANNIE: Oh, it's no joke.
Jeannie showed him her badge.
J.J.: You're a cop?
JEANNIE: Not just a cop, a junior ISA agent. And you, Jack Deveraux, Jr., you are under arrest for multiple counts of possession, use, and sale of illegal substances. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say or do can and will be held against you in a court of law. You have the right to an attorney and to have an attorney present during questioning. If you cannot afford an attorney, one will be given to you. Do you understand these rights as I have read them to you?
