I'm glad you're all enjoying this story! I was most excited for the end of yesterday where Jack tells J.J. he knows about the drugs. I'm also excited about the follow-up to that.

Chapter 6

SALEM UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL
THERESA: Dad?
SHANE: Hello, Jeannie.
THERESA: It's Theresa. I go by Theresa now.
She turned to Jennifer.
THERESA: You called my dad?
JENNIFER: Hey, don't look at me. I didn't call him.
SHANE: Actually, it was your Aunt Kayla who called us.
THERESA: Us?
Then, Kimberly walked over.
KIMBERLY: Us.

JACK & JENNIFER'S HOUSE
J.J. sat down on the couch. He couldn't take his eyes off his father and he bag of cocaine that he was holding.
JACK: Well? I'm waiting.
J.J.: Where did you find that?
JACK: What does it matter where I found it? I'd like an explanation.
J.J.: You had no right to go through my personal things!
JACK: As a matter of fact I didn't go through your things. I was doing laundry and this fell out of the pocket of your jeans as I was about to put them in the washer. So, go on. I've given you an explanation as to how I found it. Now I'd like an explanation as to why you have it.
J.J.: I don't owe you any explanation. I don't owe you sh...
JACK: Jack Patrick Deveraux, Jr., stop this atitude right now! Now, I know that you're still upset at me for being gone for a year, but I didn't have a choice! And I certainly don't deserve this atitude you're giving me! Now, I asked a question and I would like an answer.
J.J.: Well, as Mick Jagger says, you can't always get what you want. So, I'm not giving you an explanation.
JACK: Go to your room.
J.J.: Excuse me?
JACK: Go to your room. When your mother gets home, she and I will talk about this. And then, the three of us will have a very long talk about this. So, for right now, go to your room.
J.J.: But, I have stuff to do. Bev and I were supposed to see a movie today.
JACK: Too bad. You brought drugs into the house, you've bedn skipping school, lying to me and your mother, mouthing off to us every chance you get. Well, that's gonna change relly soin. Now, get up to your room. You're grounded until further notice.

Chapter 7

SALEM UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL
Theresa looked from Shane to Kimberly and back again. Jennifer stood up.
JENNIFER: I have some papers to deliver around the hospital, so I will be back in a little bit.
SHANE: Right. Thanks, Jenn.
Jennifer left the room.
THERESA: So, now what?
SHANE: Now, young lady, it seems that we have much to discuss.
In a different part of the hospital, Marlena was on the phone.
MARLENA: So, you have seen this before?
WOMAN ON PHONE (VO): Most definitely. 11 times, as a matter of fact. There's a whole website devoted to This Man.
MARLENA: Hmm, I'll have to look into that. What's the web address?
WOMAN ON PHONE (VO): triple w, thisman, that's one word, dot, org.
MARLENA: Gotcha. Thanks, Dixie.
DIXIE (over phone, VO): You're welcome. The strange thing is, This Man is always benevolent and he always tries to give advice in the dreams.
MARLENA: Interesting. You don't think someone's been using inception techniques such as post-hypnotic suggestion? I mean, maybe they stumbled across he website and saw thatothers have dreamed about him so they dreamed about him.
DIXIE (over phone, VO): I had thought of that possiblity, Marlena, but it's unlikely. Most of my patients who have seen it are in mental hospitals, as is one of yours.
MARLENA: Very strange. I'll have a look at the website myself. Thank you, Dixie.

JENNIFER: Yes, Jack. I'll be home as soon as I can.
Pause.
JENNIFER: What did he do this time?
Pause.
JENNIFER: All right. I'll see you soon. I love you.
Pause.
JENNIFER: Bye.
Jennifer hung up the phone.
JENNIFER: Oh, J.J., what is going on with you?
Abby walked up.
ABBY: What is going on with him?

Chapter 8

SALEM UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL
It was now later in the same day. A few weeks previously, Marlena had been called in to do a week-long seminar. She was currently doing that.
eMARLENA: Why do you suppose that this would be called the forbidden experiment?
One of her students raised their hands.
MARLENA: Yes?
MALE STUDENT: Because it's unethical. You can't treat another human being like that. And no human being would be willing to be subjected to that.
MARLENA: Very good. Unfortunately, a few cases of this have happened, though not with either party doing it for scientific reasons. Over the next week, we shall be examining one of the most horrific cases of child abuse and neglect in America. However, we'll have to begin tomorrow, as our time is now up. Have a good day, class.
As the students filed out of the room, Shane, who had been at the back of the room, walked up to Marlena
SHANE: Interesting stuff.
Marlena, who had been erasing some writing off the chalkboard, turned around.
MARLENA: I thought I saw a familiar face. It's good to see you!
SHANE: Good to see you, too.
MARLENA: What are you doing here?
SHANE: Kayla called us, actually. It's about Jeannie, or Theresa as she now prefers to be called.
MARLENA: Hm, yes. I see.
SHANE: Is there anything you can tell me about what's going on with her? Kim and I tried talking to her, but she escaped before we could.
MARLENA: Well, unfortunately, I haven't spent much time with her at all. I can probably only tell you things you'd already know from Kayla. Neither she or Jennifer are too happy with her, as she keeps being rude and lazy. And, she seems to have made friends with a shady group of people.

JACK & JENNIFER'S HOUSE
Jennifer and Abby walked in. Since Abby had met up with Jennifer at the hospital, she came home with her.
ABBY: Hi, dad.
Abby kissed Jack on the cheek and hugged him.
JACK: Hi, sweetie.
Jennifer put her bags down.
JACK: And hello, beautiful.
JENNIFER: Hello, there.
Jack and Jennifer kissed.
JACK: How was work?
JENNIFER: Oh, busy, same as always. Theresa's still being a pain in the butt. So, what's going on? Your phone call made it sound important.
JACK: Oh, it is. Abby, could you go upstairs, please? Your mother and I have some things we need to discuss.
ABBY: Sure. I need to prep for college anyway.
Abby went upstairs.
JENNIFER: What's going on?
JACK: I was doing laundry today and this fell out of one of J.J.'s pockets.
Jack showed her the bag of cocaine.

Chapter 9

SALEM UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL
SHANE: Shady? What sort of people has she been hanging out with?
MARLENA: Well, there was a known criminal named Vargas. There's also Nick Fallon. And there's Jack nd Jennifer's son.
SHANE: Jack Jr.?
MARLENA: That's the one.
SHANE: What does he do that's shady?
MARLENA: Personally, I don't know. But he has been acting very strange lately.

JACK & JENNIFER'S HOUSE
JENNIFER: Jack, is that what I think it is?
JACK: Well, it's not powdered sugar, so I assume so.
JENNIFER: How did it get in this house?
JACK: J.J. had it with him. Like I said, I was doing laundry and this fell out of his jeans pocket.
JENNIFER: This has got to be a mistake. Maybe...maybe it's not his. Maybe he's just holding it for somebody.
JACK: Even if he was, possession is nine-tenths of the law. But, he's not holding it for anybody. I confronted him this afternoon and he didn't make any attempt to deny it.
JENNIFER: This is so unlike him.
JACK: But, it does explain his behavior and his poor grades in school.
JENNIFER: You're right.
Jennifer went to the bottom of the stairs and yelled up.
JENNIFER: J.J., come down here!

SALEM UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL
SHANE: There is one other thing I wanted to talk to you about. It's these dreams I've been having.
MARLENA: You've been having them, too?
SHANE: Pardon me?
Marlena showed him the website.
SHANE: This Man, right here. He's been in my dreams for weeks.
MARLENA: Yes, as well as the dreams of millions of other people on a nightly basis since 2006.
