Chapter 20 CAR Nicole and Mia were now in a car. It had taken a few minutes for Nicole to get used to driving on the other side of the road, but now she was driving as usual. MIA: So, who was it? NICOLE: What do you mean? MIA: I thought the whole reason we came to Australia was to see Quinn. But, you say that he's in some other country. So, who called and told you that one of your dad's men was coming? NICOLE: Brandon, my brother. MIA: You have a brother? NICOLE: A half-brother. He lives in Florida. Had our time there not been cut so short, I would have taken you to meet them. MIA: That's cool. So, do I have any brothers or sisters that I should know about? Any other relatives? NICOLE: No, not really. You almost had a sister, but that didn't happen. And I can't think of any other relatives. Both my parents are dead. So, it's just Taylor and Brandon. Though, with the amount of sleeping around Quinn did, you may well have a few brothers or sisters on his side. MIA: Oh. RENDEZVOUS HOTEL Finally, they stopped at a hotel. It would take a few days to find a more permanent residence. But, the Hotel they picked, the Rendezvous Hotel Melbourne, was excellent. The two went up to their room and unpacked their things. Nicole handed Mia an envelope. NICOLE: It's full of money. Use it wisely. Mia opened the envelope. Unlike American money, Australian money is very colorful. The 50s were yellow, 20s red, 10s blue, and 5s purple. MIA: Whoa! But, where's the 1s? NICOLE: The lady at the cash exchange told me that they only have one dollar coins. Same with two dollars. MIA: Cool. NICOLE: Come on. Let's go get something to eat. Tune in on Friday for the finale. |

Chapter 21 HUNGRY JACKS - MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA Mia and Nicole were sitting down eating lunch. It wasn't the best place in the world, but it was the first place they found MIA: You know what's weird? This place looks like Burger King, but it's not. NICOLE: Yes, it is. It's a version of Burger King. Why else would it have the Whopper? MIA: Good point. NICOLE: So, how do you like it here? MIA: From the few hours we've been here, it seems pretty cool. I think we'll like this place. NICOLE: Me too. HOTEL A little while later, they were back at the hotel. NICOLE: We won't be staying in Melbourne for long, just a few more days. We're going on a tour of Australia. Quinn's told me about all sorts of places around here. And we're gonna see them all. MIA: That sounds cool. NICOLE: It will be. MIA: Hey, mom... NICOLE: Like I said, you don't have to call me that. MIA: Do you not want me to call you that? NICOLE: You can if you want to. It doesn't matter what you call me. As long as it's not late to dinner. Mia and Nicole chuckled. MIA: What I was gonna say was: thanks. Thanks for doing everything you had to to protect me, especially from your creepy father. I know it wasn't easy, but thanks. NICOLE: You're welcome. MIA: And I know I don't have to call you mom. But, I want to. If that's okay with you. NICOLE: Yeah, that's fine with me. MIA: Good. Mom? NICOLE: Yeah? MIA: I love you. Mia and Nicole hugged. NICOLE: I love you, too, baby. I love you, too.
