Chapter 14 HOTEL The next morning, everything was back to normal. Mia was getting breakfast. She noticed that J.T. was getting breakfast, too. MIA: Hi, J.T. J.T.: Hey, Mia. MIA: Do you have anywhere to sit? J.T.: Well, I haven't picked out a place to sit yet. MIA: Come sit by me. Nicole won't be down for a while and I don't wanna sit by myself. J.T.: Okay. So, after they finished getting their food, Mia and J.T. sat down at a table and started eating. J.T.: Hey, did you hear about those two TV channels that got hijacked last night? MIA: I saw both when it happened. J.T.: Ah. I only saw the second one. What was the first one like? MIA: The same, except without sound. Te guy was talking, but there was a low buzzing noise that drowned him out. And, it was shorter. The first one only laster 20 seconds while the second one was just under two minutes. J.T.: That's crazy! MIA: Yeah. J.T.? J.T.: Yeah? MIA: Can I tell you something? But, you've got to promise you won't laugh. J.T.: I won't. So, go ahead, what is it? MIA: I'm scared. J.T.: Scared of what? MIA: Everything that happened last night. This might sound crazy, but I don't think it's a coincidence that I saw those shows get interrupted. I think someone's trying to come after me. J.T.: I see. Well, I could probably find someone to protect you. MIA: I'd prefer it if you protected me. J.T.: Mia, I can't. MIA: Why not? You're smart, you seem nice. I'm sure you're strong. So, why can't you protect me? |

I kind of agree with JT. I don't think he is the right one to protect her. She needs someone a little more qualified.

I agree, MrsM. I think Mia is being naive. Either that, or she's using it as an excuse to try to get close to JT because she likes him. Taking a page from her mentor's (Nicole's) playbook perhaps. |

There's a big difference between training to be a cop and being a cop. MIA: Whatever. Any other reasons? J.T.: Lily, my girlfriend. I can't just start protecting you. Lily will think it's weird. MIA: Then, break ip with her. J.T.: I'm not gonna break up with her. I love her! Now, if you'll excuse me, I must be going. J.T. got up and left. A few minutes later, Nicole came down. After getting some food, she sat down at the table Mia was sitting at. NICOLE: How'd it go? MIA: Not good. NICOLE: How bad? MIA: He won't break up with her. I tried what you suggested. I acted scared. I made him think that I thought someone was coming after me. But, it didn't work. NICOLE: Let me guess: he refused to protect you because of the girlfriend. MIA: Yep. NICOLE: Well, that's different. That usually always works. That's how Quinn and I got together. Of course, I really was scared of my father. Whereas, you were just acting scared to see if he'd fall for it. MIA: Like I said, I did everything right. I even told him to break up with her... NICOLE: You did what? Well no wonder he doesn't want to protect you. You don't tell them to break up with their girlfriends. You show them how much better for them you are than she is. Then he'll realize how much he really wants you and will break up with her on his own terms. MIA: So, how do I go about that? NICOLE: Simple. Get close to the girl. Find out some secrets about her. And use them to destroy her. |
