Chapter 16 HOTEL NICOLE: Get close to her. Find out some information on her. Then, use it to get your man. MIA: Nicole...I mean, mom...you're a genius! NICOLE: Thanks. But, if it's too weird, you don't have to call me mom. MIA: You don't want me to? NICOLE: You can if you want, but you don't have to if you don't want to. I'm fine with it either way. MIA: Okay. Cool. Anyway, like I said, you're a genius! I'll go find out as much about Lily as possible. NICOLE: Lily? MIA: J.T.'s girlfriend. NICOLE: Honey, that ship has sailed. MIA: What? NICOLE: You already told him you want him. So, whatever you do now, he'll know that it's just to get to him. MIA: Yes, but isn't it you who told me to never give up? NICOLE: So, you have been listening. Good work, kid. MIA: Thanks. A few minutes later, J.T.'s girlfriend, Lily, walked in. She looked around for J.T. Not finding him, she at least recognized Mia and walked over to the table. She spoke with a slight British accent. LILY: Hi. It's Mia, isn't it? MIA: Yep. And you're Lily, right? LILY: Yeah. Have you seen J.T. around here anywhere? MIA: He was down here earlier, but left a while ago. LILY: Oh, okay. Do you mind if I sit with you two? MIA: Not at all. Go right ahead. Lily put her purse down in a seat and went to get food. Nicole and Mia grinned at each other. MIA: Looks like this'll be easier than I thought. Mia and Nicole high-fived. |

Chapter 17 HOTEL MIA: So, did you see that creep take over a TV station a day or two ago? LILY: Yeah, I saw it.That creeped me out! Luckily, I had J.T. with me, or I wouldn't have gotten any sleep. Apparently, this isn't the first time it happened. It happened in 1987 in Chicago. MIA: Yeah, Nicole was telling me that. Nicole's phone went off. NICOLE: Hello? LILY: That mask looked creepy! MIA: I didn't even know what that was until Nicole explained it to me. NICOLE: What? Mia turned to look at Nicole. Nicole put down her phone. NICOLE: We have to go! MIA: What? Why? NICOLE: I'll explain later. We just have to go. MIA: Okay. Bye, Lily. LILY: Bye. Nicole and Mia got up and went to their room. Nicole started packing. MIA: Nicole, what's going on? NICOLE: I should have known one of them would try to find us. MIA: What? Who's tried to find us? NICOLE: One of them. MIA: Who? NICOLE: One of the boys. My dad's boys. MIA: I thought your dad was dead. NICOLE: He is. But, much like the DiMera family, his influence reaches beyond the grave. He's definitely dead, but his men are still loyal to him. And one of them is coming here. We have to leave. We'll make last-minute flight reservations. I don't know where, but anywhere that gets us away from here. Nicole closed her suitcase and put it on the floor. NICOLE: We have to go. Now. |

Chapter 18 AIRPLANE Mia and Nicole were sitting in an airplane. MIA: I can't believe you're taking us there! NICOLE: It's exciting. MIA: But, how did you do it? How did you get tickets to go here? NICOLE: It was expensive, I'll tell you that. I just hope we like it down there. We'll be there for a while. MIA: Are we gonna meet Quinn? NICOLE: I doubt it. Quinn came back to the U.S. last year and hooked up with my sister, Taylor. They left Salem and went to Botswana. Or maybe it was Bolivia. I don't know, somewhere beginning with B. MIA: I didn't know you had a sister. NICOLE: She and I don't get along very well, so I don't talk about her much. A little while later, Mia had gotten out a portable DVD player. Because the plane ride was so long, and she wanted to learn as much about him as she could, Mia had bought the complete Max Headroom series box set. She was now watching this. Mia was sitting in the middle seat between Nicole and a man in his mid-50s. After a few episodes, the man started casually watching the show with her. Mia soon noticed this and took off her headphones. MIA: If you wanna watch with, I have some spare headphones you could borrow. MAN: No thanks. That's Max Headroom, isn't it? MIA: Yeah. MAN: I remember when that show first aired. I even remember all of Max and Edison's lines. MIA: You must have watched it a lot. The man chuckled. MAN: I think one of my favorite lines was this once when Max was trying to give manly advice. MIA: I'd like to hear it. MAN: It goes something like this... The man whistled. MAN: (Max Headroom voice) Whoa! Which is not to be confused with the standard greeting of male friends: (British voice) All right, all right, my son! (Max Headroom voice) Tim, don't get frightened. I'm only telling them about it. Wait! Wait! Geez, some people have no sense of humor. Mia laughed. MIA: That was awesome! You sound just like him. MAN: Thank you. A little while later, the plane had landed and everyone was getting off. MAN: Have a nice trip, ladies. MIA: Thanks. By the way, what did you say your name was? MAN: I didn't. But, it's Matt F.
