Wonder what Belle’s proposition is. If it’s anything like Nicole’s, I hope he turns her down.
Nicole’s not interested in marrying Rafe, so hopefully she’ll turn him down, as well.
The estate distribution should be interesting.
Thanks for the previews!

Chapter 502b
“So, why you were looking for me all week?” Philip asked Belle.
“Oh right. Actually, I have a proposition for you.” She quickly held up her hand. “Not that kind of proposition. A financial one. See, I’m tired of taking leftover cases from the DA’s office. I want to go into private practice. A real practice and that means I’m going to have to scrounge up clients for myself. Advertise. Have an actual law office somewhere. Hire my own staff instead of sharing with the realtor down the street. Those things cost money. So, I was thinking you’d loan me $50,000."
“Me? Why me?”
“Because you’re one of the few rich people I know well.”
“Really? Because your husband inherited money from my father’s estate too. You can ask him.”
“I told you. We’re not speaking.”
“Then your parents.”
“They’re saving up for retirement,” she recited as if she expected Philip to make that suggestion. “Okay, if $50,000 is too much, how about $45? $40. $35? Something to get me off to a fighting start.”
“Sorry, I can’t do that,” he replied evenly.
“Of course you can. You inherited a gezilion dollars from your father.”
“First of all, you should never count other people’s money," Philip stated. "Secondly, my money’s tied up.”
“So, liquidate something.”
Philip sighed deeply as he recalled being reamed out by his father years ago.
His father was as mad as he’d ever seen him, cutting his young son to shreds with every word. It was after he’d been beaten for not meeting a repayment for his gambling debt that his father lashed out at him. Philip cowered in the chair across from his father’s desk, feeling smaller than the smallest bug.
“How the hell do you get yourself into these messes? You’re a Kiriakis dammit and you owe money to a loan shark?? You. The heir to the Kiriakis fortune. I have half a mind to cut you out of my will for being such a cavalier numbskull. You should not owe money to anyone nor should you lend money to anyone. Particularly not to an ex wife, relative or friend. I once loaned money to a friend in Greece who wanted to open a restaurant. And you know what? He defaulted on the loan. I was so young and naive I didn’t think to put the loan agreement in writing so I had no recourse. I never made that mistake again.
“See, you were young and foolish once too,” Philip reasoned.
“Youth is no excuse,” Victor shouted. “Neither a borrower nor a lender be. Don’t you ever forget that. Lending money is for banks, and we are not a bank. Never again will you take money from a loan shark. And never again will you gamble. Is that clear, Philip?”
Back in the present, Philip stated, “My father once told never to lend money to anyone. That’s what banks are for.”
“You’re not your father.”
“No, I’m not, but he gave me good advice. I’m sorry Belle, but I’m not your man.”
Belle rose from her chair in a huff. “Fine,” she said tersely. “You’re not the only rich man I know.” She turned and hurried out of Philip’s office.
With a shrug, he mumbled, “I never said I was.”

Is it weird I’m glad he said no I agree with victor even if it was harsh in his delivery I also didn’t like how entitled belle was If she’s actively working it shouldn’t be hard to get a loan from a bank she had no reason to bother Philip about this It certainly wouldn’t go over well with Shawn if he decided to work it out once he cools off

Love how Philip tries to mention several other wealthy people Bella knows, but she finds excuses not to ask them. Yet, when Philip says no, she gets mad and says he’s not the only rich person she knows. Either way, glad he turned her down.

I'm glad he turned her down, too. If she'd have truly known Philip she'd have already understood this boundary. I get she's desperate, but...

I'm really glad that Philip turned Belle down. She seemed pretty sure of herself that Philip would just give it to her. I wonder if she had approached the topic differently if Philip would have suggested she be do some legal counseling with Justin on his next adventure. However, if she's going to act this way, it's probably best that she not be involved with the new company.

Chapter 503
“Hi pretty baby.” Rafe leaned over the baby carriage before taking a seat next to Nicole on a bench in the Town Square. “Is it just me, or is she growing up really fast?”
“Well she’s six weeks old, but I agree that she’s growing up before my eyes.” She forced a smile as she looked at Rafe. “Thanks for meeting me here.”
“You’ve made a decision, haven’t you? About my marriage proposal.” Nicole nodded slowly. “Well, if the answer was yes, I don’t think you’d have asked me to meet you on a bench in the Town Square mall. It’s no, isn’t it? Your answer is no.”
“I’m sorry Rafe.”
Rafe clenched his jaw as he tried to maintain his composure. “Don’t be sorry. I knew it was a long shot, but I had to ask. Can you tell me why the answer is no? I mean, I offered you everything, no strings, no expectations.”
“Rafe, come on. There are always expectations. You may say there aren’t but I know that you’re always going to hope that one day I’ll return your feelings, and frankly, that’s a lot of pressure to live with day in and day out.” She rested her hand on top of his on his thigh. “I love you. You know that. You’re my best friend. But if we got married and it ended badly, well, I’d lose my husband and my best friend in one fell swoop. I’m not willing to risk that. You mean too much to me to risk losing your friendship.”
Rafe grunted. “Those are nice words, Nicole, but I think you’re working really hard to find an excuse for not marrying me.”
Nicole shrugged. “It’s not an excuse. It’s the truth. If it makes a difference, I gave it a lot of thought. A lot. And I didn’t make the decision lightly. I don’t like hurting you. I hate it. But I think hurting you now is probably easier than hurting you later.” He gave her a look and she said, “Well, it makes sense to me even if it doesn’t make sense to you.”
“Look, I fully expected you to say no,” he said, “and I’m okay with it. So don’t be surprised if you hear I’m dating other women.”
“You should date other women. And um, don’t be surprised if you hear I’m dating other men.”
His eyes widened. “You’re dating already, aren’t you?”
Looking away, she mumbled, “Sort of but not really.” She thought about telling him she was working on an arrangement with Philip but Rafe would never understand why she’d contemplate marrying Philip and not him. So she kept that to herself for now. “Maybe we should end this conversation now before we say something hurtful to each other. Because that’s not my intention. I never want to hurt my very best friend. You know?”
With a smile, Rafe said, “Yeah. I know.”

I'm glad Nicole was honest with Rafe, mostly anyway. I hope he doesn't get jealous of Philip

Chapter 504
Philip stared at his bedroom ceiling on Sunday night. It was the middle of the night but he was wide awake with no hope of sleep coming any time soon. He kept hearing Nicole’s voice in his head. Why don’t you divorce her already? You’re not thinking you’ll get back together after all this time, are you?
Philip threw an arm over his forehead as he considered Nicole’s question. Divorcing Chloe. He’d done that already. That was when Chloe was convinced he was cheating on her. Eventually she realized she was wrong and they got back together. They’d split up and reconciled so many times over the years that it almost felt like a foregone conclusion that they’d get back together again.
But not this time. This time, Chloe’s decision to leave was not because she hated Philip or because she didn’t trust him, but rather because she hated herself. She couldn’t face him or herself or the truth. Philip understood completely. He almost jumped off a skyscraper when he reached the end of his rope, the end of his hope.
Up to now, he thought there’d come a day when Chloe would want to get back together again. And he’d probably take her back. Again. But now he wasn’t so sure. He hadn’t heard a word from her in six weeks. He ran his thumb over the gold band on the ring finger of the same hand as he thought about the other women who were interested in him. Belle. Nicole. The girl in Brookville. Even so, the idea of divorcing Chloe sent a chill through his body. He’d been married and divorced too many times for someone his age. To Belle. To Melanie. To Chloe. All he wanted was to be happy. At this point, he’d even settle for just being content. The thing is, he’d had real happiness with each of those women—for too short a time, especially Chloe. They were only married a couple days when he got the call that his father was dying. Everything went downhill from there. But there were euphoric moments in between, moments when Philip and Chloe were so in love, so in sync, so close—at least that’s what he thought until Chloe allowed Brady to intrude on their happiness.
He thought about what he told George, about how his father wasn’t able to get over his one true love until he found Maggie. “Dad was in his 70s when he met Maggie,” Philip told George. “And even though I can’t see myself with anyone but Chloe, I also don’t want to spend my whole life alone.” His voice cracked with emotion when he said, “I don’t want to wait until I’m 70 to meet someone who can replace Chloe in my heart, if anyone even could.”
Maybe Nicole was right. Maybe it was time.

Maybe time to move on yes but not time to enter a marriage of convenience I can understand being done with Chloe but not to be with Nicole for whatever nonsense she sold him on

I hope Philip means it’s time to look for someone he actually loves, rather than settling.

Honestly, while Chloe figures things out for herself, I think it'd be great for Philip to start dating again. He needs a fresh start, and he needs to keep the momentum going. He deserves happiness and he was handed a poop sandwich. It's time for Parker and Philip to have some normalcy and happiness.
Chloe should definitely be there for Parker.
Chloe deserves happiness, too, but she's done so much damage to hers and Philip's relationship. I don't know if the trust will ever be there between them again.
