Chapter 460
Alex walked into Justin’s office at Titan Headquarters without knocking. Justin looked up as Alex took a seat in a chair across from the desk and promptly put his feet up on Justin’s desk. Justin cringed. “I’ve only got 10 minutes before my next meeting,” Justin told Alex. “What’s up?”
Alex linked his fingers behind his head and rocked in his chair. “Ah, don’t worry your next meeting.”
“I’ve never been late to a meeting in my whole career and I’m not about to start now.” He made a face at the sight of the soles of Alex’s shoes. “Alex, you’re my son and I want you to succeed, so take this in the spirit it was intended. It’s really not appropriate to put your feet up on a colleague’s desk, even mine. You’re the CEO now, albeit interim, and it’s important to maintain a professional demeanor. People will be more likely to show you respect if you behave professionally.”
Alex scoffed. “You’re so old-school, Dad. Lighten up! My generation is way caszh. People will relate much better to me if I’m just myself. And if they can’t, maybe it’s time to retire.”
Justin couldn’t hide his disgust. "Alex, I have to disagree with you.”
Before Justin could finish his thought, Alex slid his feet off his father’s desk and leaned forward. “Speaking of retirement, it’s time, Dad.”
“Time for what?”
“Time to retire. Call it quits.”
“Excuse me, but that’s my decision to make when I see fit.”
“Well, see fit then. We’re cutting you loose.”
Justin’s eyes widened. He knew Alex well enough to know this wasn’t a joke, and he knew the situation at Titan. Even so, coming from his son, this was hard to believe. “Are you seriously firing me?”
“Yup. That’s what I’m here for. So you see, you actually don’t have to worry about making it to your meeting on time. You don’t need to go to the meeting at all.” He rose to his feet. “If you need help packing up your office, I’m sure Marie can help you.”
Shocked, Justin stared straight ahead and mumbled, “Marie is over 70 years old.” He refocused on Alex. “You were put in your position expressly to fire people, weren’t you?”
Alex nodded. “You’re still sharp as ever,” he quipped. “But to be clear, I’m just here to fire people with ‘Chief' in their titles—like you. And anyone else who might have loyalty to the old garde.”
“Oh Alex. Please don’t tell me you’re going to fire Marie too. She’s been with the company for 45 years.”
Alex shrugged. “Now there’s someone who could benefit from retiring before it’s too late.” Alex turned around and exited Justin’s office. “And take this in the spirit is was meant. Smart as you are, I’m a little surprised it took you this long to figure it out. See you at home.”

Wow. Alex really is a jerk. I hope he gets knocked off that high horse and soon. PHILIP!!! IT'S TIME TO COME BACK AND GET YOUR COMPANY!!!!
I had a feeling Melanie wasn't going to be as committed to Brady as she wanted/thought she would be. I never really cared for her and Nathan and I think Nathan is just telling her what she wants to hear. I'm not sure Stephanie is as into Nathan either. Sure she loves having him around and being a safety net, but Alex was right. Stephanie can't deal with the so-called good guys. She's always got to chase the bad boys and what she can't/isn't supposed to have.

Thank you once again my friends for reading and commenting all week. So much is happening. So much is coming up. And I’m not out of ideas yet.
Here’s a peek at the coming week.
-Philip and Parker share some quality time during their road trip.
-Chloe encounters the last person she was expecting to see. Who do you think it is?
-Melanie and Brady make plans.

Chapter 461a
Whenever they were staying at campgrounds that felt relatively safe from animals and the weather was warm enough, Philip would pull out the sleeping bag and throw it on the dirt. He and Parker would climb inside, snuggle close and stare at the stars before heading inside for the remainder of the night. Tonight they were at an RV campground on Disney property.
“The stars are endless. The universe is so vast,” Philip sighed. “Kind of makes you feel tiny.”
“Uh huh.”
Philip pointed to the sky with both arms outstretched. “See those four bright lights in the sky.”
“The stars?”
“Right. Those are the edges of a constellation called Orion. You know what a constellation is, right?”
“You mean like the stars on the ceiling from my p’jector.”
“Yes! Exactly like that. See a constellation is a cluster of stars that form a pattern you can recognize. Like the Big Dipper and Little Dipper and the Milky Way.”
Parker giggled. “Milky Way is a candy bar.”
“That’s true,” Philip said warmly, “but it’s also the name of a constellation. There are lots of constellations.”
“How many?”
Philip thought a minute. “Um. Eighty something I think.” Philip was never an A student like Parker’s mother was. This was an answer Chloe would know without thinking. She absorbed everything like a sponge back in school. “Eighty-eight!” Philip blurted, pleased that he could remember something he learned so long ago. “Most constellations are named after figures in Greek mythology, like Orion up there and Apollo and Andromeda, Aquarius and Sagittarius.”
“How do you know all that?”
“I learned it in school.”
“Am I gonna learn it in school too?”

Nice little moment between Parker and Philip. In a way, I'm glad that Chloe wasn't there. These guys need this time together to heal together. Even though there's a hole in both of their hearts, they need each other.
