I agree, Chloe has to want help before anyone can help her.

I hope she realizes just how much help she needs when she talks to Mary. Right now I believe she is just in too much pain to realize that she has many people who love and need her.

Joel hit the nail on the head on this one. She has to want it and right now all she's wanting is to live in self pity and misery. This is destructive side coming out and she needs to realize that and reach out for the help. Otherwise everything falls on deaf ears.

Chapter 457
Paul and Tripp were finishing dinner at the pub when the waitress brought them their check. Tripp reached for it. “Hey, it’s my turn,” Paul complained.
“No worries. I’ve got this,” Tripp said casually.
“You’ve been ‘getting this’ for weeks.”
“Paul, I know you’re not working full time. It’s not a big deal.”
Paul put his wallet back in his pocket and sighed. “One of these days, I’ll be the one picking up the check.”
“Things are still tight, huh?”
“Not just tight. They’re practically dead at Black Patch. You already know that your dad’s in a funk over his split with Kayla and my dad’s in a funk since Brady went to rehab. There’s no new business coming in and they don’t seem motivated.”
“I just saw my dad yesterday and he keeps falling into a deeper and deeper depression,” Tripp observed. “Been trying to see Kayla too, but she keeps making excuses. It’s like they each need the other to be whole.”
“They’re codependent.”
“Yeah, but in a good way,” Tripp added. “At least it used to be. But getting back to you, if there’s no work at Black Patch, then—”
“Then there’s no income for me.”
“What about your coaching gig?”
“The Salem High cut the sports program’s budget,” Paul explained. “They’re relying on parents to volunteer to coach the baseball teams.”
“But you were a professional baseball player. You’ve got experience.”
“Doesn’t matter. They don’t have money to keep me on.”
“Any other leads?”
Paul shrugged. “The hospital had a want ad for a security guard. So did the academy.”
“Isn’t that something retired and off-duty cops usually do?”
“Yeah, but my dad got me some self defense training and target practice when I first started helping at Black Patch. I don’t need to be a cop to sit at a desk and sign people in,” Paul noted. “So I signed up with a recruiter. She’s gonna start sending me on interviews as soon as she has something I’m qualified for. Man oh man. I didn’t know my career was going to peak in my 20s.”
“Paul, don’t say that.”
“I guess I shouldn’t have dropped out of college to play ball.”

What about the swimming lessons could he not do those? I’m sure he will find purpose outside of baseball soon I liked the line about stayla needing each other to feel whole

Happy 3rd anniversary to The Rest of Our Lives!
This story began three years ago, on May 31, 2021. In the story, it was early June, right after Philip and Chloe got married and were on their honeymoon. It is now January, only 7 months later, in story time. Feels like longer! (To them too!) I hope you’re still enjoying the journey. As always, my thanks for reading and commenting!
Here’s a little preview of the coming week.
-Alex and Stephanie have lunch (postponed from an earlier date) and he weighs in on her choice of men. -Nathan flirts with Melanie…well, more than just flirts. -Justin’s advice to Alex backfires.

So basically Nathan and Stephanie picked up where they left off He’s still pining over Melanie I’m taking a shot at a guess that Alex will sell him out and Justin will be fired
Thanks for the previews and happy 3rd anniversary

Chapter 458a
Alex and Stephanie were having lunch at the Bistro the next day.
“You did a great job on that press release.”
She swallowed a bite of her grilled salmon and rested her fork on her plate. “With very little information, I might add.”
“So, we were going to swap war stories. What have you been up to the past few years?” Alex took off his glasses. “You know, I can’t even remember the last time I saw you.”
“It was about six years ago," Stephanie answered matter of factly. "At Sonny and Will’s wedding.”
He pointed his glasses at her. “That’s right. That’s exactly when I last saw you. Weren’t you dating Philip?”
“I was involved with Philip long before that. But we weren’t just dating. We were engaged.”
He put his glasses back on. “I didn’t know that. I guess that’s what happens when you grow up outside of Salem.” He bit into his grilled cheese and bacon sandwich and spoke with his mouth full. “So what happened?”
“You mean why did we break up? I realized that being part of his family could be dangerous to my health. So I gave him an ultimatum. Me or his family.”
“And he chose the family.”
“Actually, he chose me. But I realized he could never completely break away from Victor and the Kiriakis family, and I was wrong to even ask. “
“And yet, he hired you for the PR job.”
“He referred me for the job,” Stephanie corrected. “Carrie Austin hired me.”
“Hmmm. So, does that mean all Kiriakises are off limits in terms of dating? Victor’s dead now.”
“Yes, I know.”
He looked at her for a long moment. “Avoiding my question?” Stephanie opened her mouth to say something but Alex waved at the air. “Forget I asked.” He took his glasses off again. “So, what’s been happening since then? I mean since I saw you last.”
“Well, I had my own public relations company in Seattle.”
“No kidding!”
“It was just a small boutique firm. Joey was working with me too.”
“Who’s Joey? Your boyfriend?”
Stephanie rolled her eyes. “No. Joey’s my brother. You know him.”
“Oh him. Right. Speaking of boyfriends, do you have one?”
Stephanie felt like she was being interviewed, but she went along with it. “Well, I was seeing someone in Seattle—nothing serious—but we officially ended it since I’m staying in Salem for the foreseeable future.”
“And? There’s someone else, isn’t there?”

Alex is pushy and Stephanie isn’t serious about Nathan She would have told him from the getgo she was seeing someone She’s obviously weighing her options still She seems very immature

Alex stop being so obnoxious. I hope Stephanie tells him to mind his own business.
