I just started reading this but I ran out of time... So far I love it. You really do write like an older movie... very seductively. Can't wait to read more. I picture Melanie looking like Veronica Lake...

So I just started Chapter 4. Now it is revealed that Philip is not in Acapulco but in a coma. This first part of Ch4 gives a glimpse into what Philip's life has been like since the accident. Told from Melanie's perspective I wanted you to see what everyone was so worried about with her. It was more than she was just taking care of Parker - she was taking care of Philip too. How do we feel about Melanie playing such an active role in Philip's care? The image of Victor sitting by Philip's bedside reading him books just kills me. Victor is tough as nails, doesn't get emotional, but you know he loves his son. Got to be so hard for him to see Philip like this. If you think back to what Victor said in the courtroom after Chloe's outburst - how he wanted to just shake his son for not being around to take care of this chaos he created - his anger takes on a different meaning. At first it seemed like typical Victor always demeaning his son, but now we see that he is a frustrated and grief stricken dad that feels powerless. Starting from 6:15 on this clip - if you needed a visual. My Philip does have on PJs tho. Looks like Chloe was caught on tape... I wonder if that will hinder her escape plan she hatched in chapter 3?

I am glad to see Victor sitting at Philip's bedside reading to him. It's really good to know that he hasn't been forgotten about even though the prognosis doesn't appear to be positive. It's good that Melanie is wanting to take care of Philip but she is being pulled in so many directions that it seems inevitable she will collapse at some point. Depending on how long the cameras have been there, it probably isn't the first time Chloe has appeared on the video. Personally I think Melanie should leave it alone because her ultimate goal should be Philip's recovery. If Chloe sneaking in to see him can possibly help then let her try. There's the added bonus for Melanie that Chloe may get caught in the process of sneaking out.
Slyn do you want us to post comments on the chapter too or do you prefer them here?

LOL I was just here adding my shirtless Philip visual aid when this popped up. I want comments in both places. I'm greedy like that LOL. Just playing, Really I think more in depth stuff is cool here and comments like we usually do in the other. I mean I don't want people to feel forced to post in both places. I just want to talk more in depth without giving too much away in the main thread. Does that make sense? Would no comments in the other thread make it easier to read? I know the management is testing this all out, so feedback would be great for them I'm sure.

Yes, it makes sense to me. I tend to keep my in-depth comments for the author since I wonder if other readers even want to read all of my comments. This is the perfect forum for talking in depth with the author and other fans.

I remember that scene very well where Victor was speaking Greek to a sleeping prince. I mean Philip. If ever there was a time for subtitles, that was it.
I love that he was reading Greek classics to Philip. But you know what surprises me? That Victor isn't furious with Melanie since she caused the accident. Maybe he doesn't know the details. Maybe he thinks Philip was driving? Maybe he knows how sick Melanie is about the whole thing that he doesn't lay the blame at her feet. She's the only one of Philip's love interests that he ever truly approved of.
Your descriptions of the comatose patients reminded me of Terry Schiavo who was in a coma for like 14 years. It was big news down here all the time for years and years. So sad. And so tragically sad to think of Philip in that state too.

I will say this, we will deal with the fact Melanie caused the accident down the line and that the family knows that she was driving. But you also bring up a good point. Melanie's guilt. Makes you wonder how much of her taking care of Philip is about feeling guilty versus about being in love.
