this is an awesome story- i find myself checking for updates many times during the day! haha. I was shaking my head at Chloe as she watched Maggie through the kitchen door and then sneaked up stairs... and was TALKING to Parker- I was waiting for Maggie to hear her through the baby monitor and sure enough, there she was! LOL! That was perfectly in character for both of them. I can't wait for what Maggie has to say to Chloe.. I'm thinking that eventually Maggie will start to see more of Melanie's side as she experiences Chloe's craziness. LOVE IT!

I actually think it will be the opposite. I think that Maggie is the first one to truly see Chloe’s remorse over leaving Parker in the woods. I think she will side with Chloe, and I doubt she will blame Chloe for going to great lengths to see Parker. Slyn, what was it about the mural that made Chloe break down the way she did? Now that I know that Philip and Chloe were practically living together before the accident, it makes Chloe’s situation even sadder. She was totally dependent on him for everything at that point. And when he was in the car with Melanie and didn’t answer her phonecall, that must have been very upsetting to her. Their talk on the balcony had to be before Chloe knew she was pregnant because she shouldn’t have been drinking otherwise. Chloe may have left her son in the woods, but she was mentally ill when that happened. Melanie’s crime is just as bad, if not worse, and I don’t want her to get a pass for it. Chloe endangered an infant; Melanie endangered two adults and anyone else on the road that night with her totally irresponsible driving, and she put one of those two adults into a coma with life-threatening injuries. If there is a custody hearing, I hope someone raises that issue before handing Parker over to her. kpatch was saying that to me earlier, that she liked that I had him in the middle of a triangle. Philip was rich and hot. Why weren;t all the ladies all over him? I am thrilled to have a story where Philip is the prize. He should never have to fight another man for the heart of a woman. There's no contest. I mean seriously.

When I was writing it, I was thinking to myself I hope Chloe doesn't start singing to the baby. LOL I know I was in control. I was writing it, but I could see her doing it.

We definitely will be dealing with her actions in the car that night. And yep now some more light has been shed on why Chloe is missing Philip so badly. It is more than just her good friend is ill, he had become her support system.

In my opinion, it’s a combination of guilt and love. I think all those things you mentioned (such as caring for Parker, massaging Philip’s muscles, learning about his condition, and so on) could have definitely been done out of guilt. But it’s the care with which Melanie performs those tasks. They aren’t burdens for her. They’re labors of love. But it’s that much more complicated because (it’s Slyn doing the writing and) the guilt of the accident is heaped on top of all the pain of the one-night stand and subsequent breakup, birth of Parker, Chloe’s presence and illness, etc. Talk about layers! I see what you are saying, and you are right, what she is doing could be done out of guilt. But I was talking more about the way in which Melanie performs them, and the fact they aren't burdens for her. I should have said it that way as that is what I was meaning. Thank you for seeing that . The way in which she is doing these gestures is not like a robot and just doing them because she thinks they should be done, but doing them in a way that is very natural and she does not even have to think about. Her hands and movements are done in the loving and gentle way that is only for Philip. And yes, I agree with the layers too. I say Slyn should go write for Days .

I just started reading this but I ran out of time... So far I love it. You really do write like an older movie... very seductively. Can't wait to read more. I picture Melanie looking like Veronica Lake... I can totally see mel looking like her! Thanks for reading. I'm so glad you are enjoying. I have much in store for my main trio hopefully people will get into the bumpy ride.

Slyn, wanted to let you know I just finshed chapter 3. I am trying not to read any of the previous comments in here as I don't want to know what happens yet... So glad Philip isn't dead, whew!! I did have a feeling he was in coma and I can't wait to find out what happened with the car. I am thinking it fell down the cliff? I do love the way you write and so much easier with the shorter chapters. This is a prime example that a story can rock without sex, love & romance is what counts. I can't wait to start reading chapter 4 now. Glad we are slow at work! PS, I can steal Drew from you? ;D

I would have to at least make him a ghost or something. Let's hope he pulls through this soon. I am missing those dimples. More will be revealed about that accident in the forthcoming updates. Drew is quite yummy, isn't he? Thanks for reading!

I've read the latest update, Part 3 of Chapter 4. Melanie is certainly still in character. I was struck by the fact that Melanie couldn't wait to go give Chloe a piece of her mind. Despite the fact that there was no one to tend to Philip, she didn't want to wait the hour until Kate arrived before going to see Chloe. That is Melanie's emotional and irresponsible side showing -- the same emotions that overtook her when she closed her eyes and ears and took her hands off the steering wheel while driving. I guess I'm not letting that one go. I can't forgive her for putting Philip in this condition. But I am grateful he doesn't have a beard.

So in Ch. 4 part 3 and 4 we get Melanie talking to Bo and Melanie going to see Chloe in her room, only to find her gone. This chapter was really important to me. I wanted to show Bo and his feelings dealing with what is going on with Philip. As you may recall, Bo was the third person there the night of the accident. I wanted to explore how someone deals with trying to help their own brother stuck in such a critical situation. And clearly something went wrong that night. All details of the accident have yet to be revealed, but I did give a few more hints. Bo definitely is guilty about something. I really like the Melanie and Bo dynamic. On the show they never really got along too much. Melanie resented Bo for how he treated her during the Trent case. So with this accident and its aftermath I wanted to bring these two together. As you can kind of see they have forged a bond through this tragedy. Interesting she is the one trying to console him about not being able to go inside to see Philip. It can be very hard to see a loved one in such a compromised capacity. Even a man as brave as Bo, has his limits. The other little reveal was that Melanie still wants to be married to Philip. It is more clear now that many of her actions are in fact about loving him, even though she was hell bent on leaving him before the accident. Life and death situations force you to take stock in what really matters. Seems like Melanie might have gotten some clarity about what her heart wants through this ordeal. Perhaps? And why was it so important for Philip to let Melanie know about not being second choice? Could it possibly come from his own past and his own doubts about being first in someone's heart? Something worse happened the night of the accident - clearly. Makes you wonder what happened during that rescue.

I was personally hoping that Melanie would fall asleep for a bit before she went off on a manhunt for Chloe. I'm looking forward to Chloe and Maggie talking before Melanie gets there. I wonder how many times Chloe has visited Philip. I'm glad that Melanie acknowledged the possibility that Chloe could get through to Philip. I'm sure that's why she allowed the visits to continue.
I liked seeing Bo's guilt and inability to go into Philip's room. I like that he visits with Parker and sends movies and music for Philip.

Seems like Bo must have messed up on the rescue and that's why he's feeling so guilty, in addition to sheer helplessness in a situation like that. When the first helicopter got there, they arrived without medical supplies. I think maybe Bo wasn't specific enough in describing the patient's needs/condition. Something went awry, that's for sure.
I like your analogy about not being second place. Philip took second place to Brady and to Shawn, and his fear about taking second place to Nathan is what sent him into Chloe's arms the night of the ONS. He knows that pain all too well.

Wouldn't be Philip if he weren't thinking about this in some way. He has always struggled with being "enough" for someone.
