Chapter 25d
As Chloe left Philip’s room, she started walking in the direction of the child care center.
“Chloe!”
She whirled around when she heard someone call her name. “Helen!” She rushed over to Helen and embraced the older woman. “You’re okay! I mean, you look fine. How do you feel?”
“Never better,” she smiled from ear to ear. “The doctors just gave me a clean bill of health. And I owe it all to you. Your honey isn’t the only one who was saving lives today. That juice box you gave me kept me from going into shock. Probably saved my life.”
“I didn’t do anything that anyone else wouldn’t do,” Chloe said sincerely. “I’m just glad it worked.
“How did you know what to do?”
“Well, my dad’s a doctor and my mom is a diabetic too. I remembered you telling me you have diabetes and I realized you hadn’t eaten. We always had juice around for my mom for times when her blood sugar got too low.”
“Well it worked. Oh, that reminds me.” She touched Chloe’s hand. “Have you heard from your honey? I know you were worried.”
“He’s here actually. I just came from seeing him.”
“Oh dear,” Helen said with concern. “What happened?”
“He was severely dehydrated and they’re giving him massive amounts of intravenous fluids. The doctors say he’ll be okay, thank god.”
“I’m so happy to hear it. And the little guy? Where’s Parker?”
“Oh, he’s in the child care center.” She pointed in the direction of the center. “I was just heading over there.”
“Give him a hug for me. And Chloe, I would love for us to stay in touch.”
“So would I.”
“Here.” Helen reached inside her purse and held out a business card. “My phone number is on this card.”
“One sec.” Chloe scribbled her own phone number on the back of a receipt from her purse. “If the phones ever start working, I’ll definitely call you,” she said warmly, trading phone numbers with Helen.
Helen gave Chloe another hug. “Take care, Chloe.”
“You too.” As Helen walked away, Chloe glanced at the business card. “Helen wait. This card, it says you’re a licensed child psychologist. I thought you were retired.”
“I am, but I still see a few patients here and there.”
“This is incredible. Um. Would you possibly be willing to see one more?”
“Parker?”
“He’s seeing someone now, but I … I don’t feel comfortable with her, to be honest. I don’t think that Parker’s interests are her first priority.”
“Well, that doesn’t sound very good. Of course, I’ll see Parker. Give me a call and we’ll set something up.”
Chloe let out a sigh. “I have a feeling we were meant to meet.”
“I’m certain of it,” Helen replied. She smiled and headed for the elevator.

Well, that was serendipitious. Hopefully, Helen will be professional and competent.
I'm glad Chloe seems to have made a friend and that Helen is all right.
I hope Parker is getting on all right at the child care center.

Glad Helen is doing better! What a coincidence that she’s a child psychologist! Hopefully she’ll be better than Gwen.

I'm so glad that Helen is doing ok! And she's a therapist as well? This may be an easier transition for Parker than I expected after all.

Chapter 25e
After parting ways with Helen, Chloe turned around again and was practically standing face to face with Gwen McMullen. “Gwen! What are you doing here?”
“I was with Philip.”
Chloe’s brow knit. “Um. What do you mean?”
“I was taking care of him.”
Chloe squinted at Gwen but didn’t say anything. By now she didn’t believe a word this woman said, and Philip had just confirmed her skepticism.
Finally, Gwen said, “I was helping Philip look for you and Parker. I was about to go visit with him. Which room is he in?”
“He’s fine,” Chloe answered, purposely saying as little as possible.
“I’d like to see for myself,” Gwen stated.
“Why?”
“Why?” Gwen’s brow knit. “Because … because he’s a colleague and a friend and he’s in the hospital. Why wouldn’t I want to see him?”
“I’ll be sure to tell him you were asking for him,” Chloe replied tersely.
As Chloe turned to go, Gwen grasped her arm. “You don’t like me, do you?”
Chloe paused for a few beats before responding. She took a step back and Gwen released her arm. “I was thinking you don’t like me,” she finally responded. “But that’s not really important right now, is it? We’re onto you, Gwen. Even if you were the best therapist in the Keys, you’re not the right one for my family.”
“What are you talking about,” Gwen asked innocently.
“I’m saying, you can fill our time slot with another patient. We won’t be using your services anymore.”
Gwen’s lips parted. “Does Philip know about this? Because I’m sure he—”
“Look.” Chloe cut her off. “We made it through a fierce hurricane. Philip’s going to be alright, and since we’ll probably never seen each other again, I really don’t see the point in continuing this conversation. Goodbye, Gwen.” She turned and headed down the hallway.

Well that was that. Too bad Gwen couldn't be professional. She lost clients she could have helped.

Well, at least there wasn't a huge scene at the hospital. But I highly doubt that this will be the last time they see Gwen. Unless Philip fully leaves the Coast Guard, he will still see her on a regular basis. Even then - they live on an island. I'm sure they are bound to run into each other at some point. And Gwen doesn't strike me as one to be deterred so easily. She's going to have to hear the words from Philip for herself before she will believe them....if she believes them then.

Honestly Gwen got more of an explanation than she deserved I’m glad there was no scene as it wasn’t the place I do feel like there will be more to it Gwen probably won’t back off that easily

Get ready for an emotional week, as... -Philip is released from the hospital and he and Chloe try doing more of that thing known as communicating. -Parker has a surprising and poignant request.

Yay! I'm glad Philip and Chloe will try to communicate. Maybe Helen can recommend someone for them.
I'm very curious about Parker's request.
