Gwen definitely has some kind of ulterior motives here. I’m glad Philip realized how much she was contradicting herself throughout their conversation.

As I predicted Chloe was 100% right and Gwen is the farthest thing from a professional.... she was shady from the first 5 seconds
I hope her taking her eyes off the road isn’t foreshadowing a car accident

That was irritating. Gwen should have a better understanding of human psychology and be aware that super obvious ploy wouldn't work.

Chapter 24f
They’d been in and out of three shelters already. Scouring the sea of faces and experiencing the combination of people odors, pet smells and stale food, Philip began feeling sick to his stomach. Now searching the fourth shelter, Philip was zapped of energy. He was as tired as he’d ever felt in his life, remembering that battle-weary fatigue he sometimes felt in the military. His ears were ringing from the din of voices and babies crying. The room was hot and the air was stagnant. His hair was plastered to his head from the combination of salt water and sweat., but he was as determined as ever to find Chloe and Parker and vowed not to stop until he did.
He saw Gwen on the other side of the gymnasium. She shrugged at him, indicating she was having no luck. So he pressed on, but began to think this was yet another dead end and they’d be driving to yet another shelter soon.

Chloe and Parker stood inside the back entrance of the school and watched the emergency vehicle drive Helen away.
“Is she gonna be alright, Mommy?”
Chloe smiled a small smile as she cupped Parker’s chin. “Yes, angel, I think she’s going to be fine,” she replied. “Come, let’s go back to the gym and see if we can find a place to sit.”

Philip leaned against a wall for balance and tried to take a deep breath to alleviate his dizziness, but he couldn’t seem to get much air into his lungs. His vision was blurry and he squinted to try and focus.
“Philip!” He heard someone call his name and presumed it was Gwen, but a moment later, a pair of arms encircled his shoulders.
“Chloe!” He leaned away and smiled for the first time in days. “I’ve been looking everywhere for you.”
She looked into his eyes and her heart constricted. He was pale and his eyes had no light in them. She thought he looked like he’d been through the wars. “Are you okay?” she asked, pushing his hair from his eyes.
“I am, now that I found you,” he said, pulling her into his arms.
“Uncle Phil!” Parker grabbed onto Philip’s good leg.
As Philip leaned down to hug Parker, everything went black.

I'm glad it was Chloe and not Gwen that found Philip right before he passed out. I hope it's nothing serious.

I'm happy that Philip found Chloe and Parker. I hope he's not suffering from anything worse than severe exhaustion.
I was worried that Gwen may have seen Chloe at one of the shelters and kept it from Philip.

I was starting to wonder if Gwen wasn't speaking up as well. Glad Philip finally found him. I hope he passed out only from exhaustion and maybe dehydration.

What a beautiful chapter i felt im there in the shelters with philip finally!! They found eachother. I dont think philip took a second to rest since the storm started  Why is gwen there, take a hint woman! |
