I'm not sure that I like Gwen going with him, BUT with Philip feeling like he is right now, I think it's best that he's not by himself. I sure hope that Philip didn't have bad air in that tank. He didn't go deep enough (that I know of) to need his rest stop so that shouldn't be the problem. The dizziness and weakness has me really worried about him. I'm hope it's just fatigue and the adrenaline rush wearing off.

Hey everyone. Thank you for reading and commenting!
I've got good news! I'm mostly caught up so I'm going to start posting Perfect Storm three times a week instead of just once. So look for episodes on Monday/Wednesday/Friday.
Coming this week... We will find out what's wrong with Helen. Gwen overplays her hand. A reunion is coming, but will it be everything our players were hoping it would be?

Chapter 24d
As Helen approached, she stumbled and fell onto the mat, partly on top of Parker. Parker quickly squirmed away. “Helen?” Chloe said. The older woman looked at Chloe with fear. She was spacey, shaking, and the color had drained from her face. Chloe cried out. “Help. We need help over here.” Her eyes darted around the room, looking for someone in authority. She quickly stood up to try and see around the people who were milling about. “Hey, we need a medic over here,” she shouted.
She looked at the woman seated next to her, the one who rolled her eyes when Chloe asked her to move over earlier in the day. “Could you see if you can get an EMT or something? I can’t leave my son.” And I won’t let a stranger watch him. The woman surprised Chloe by getting up, patting her shoulder, and saying, “Be right back.”
Chloe dropped to her knees. She touched Helen’s face with the back of her hand. Helen’s skin felt clammy. She reached into her tote and put some hand sanitizer on a towelette and pressed it to Helen’s forehead. Helen grasped Chloe’s other hand. “Hypo.” Chloe’s brow knit. She wondered if Helen were telling her she had a hypodermic needle in her bag. She grabbed Helen’s bag, zipped it open and perused the contents. There were pill bottles but no needle.
She glanced toward the front of the gymnasium. “What’s taking them so long?”
“Mommy, is Helen dying?”
“No angel, she’ll be okay … I hope.”
Turning back to Helen, she held her eyelids open. Doctors had done that to her a million times while she was in the hospital. She once asked Daniel what he was looking for, but at this moment, she couldn’t remember the answer. But she knew she’d seen these symptoms before — in Nancy, when she had low blood sugar. Chloe’s eyes widened. Helen had said she was a diabetic. She hadn’t eaten. “Hypoglycemia? Helen, is that what you were trying to tell me?”
Helen didn’t respond, but Chloe felt she couldn’t wait any longer for a medic. She reached into her tote and tore into one of Parker’s apple juice boxes. She stuck the straw in and pushed it between Helen’s lips. She held the back of Helen’s head and said, “Drink this. Helen, can you hear me? It’s apple juice, okay? Drink it.”
Helen began sucking in the juice. By the time she reached the bottom of the box, she began to focus. She nodded at Chloe. “Thank you. Thank you, dear.”
Chloe exhaled, and as she did, an emergency medical technician arrived. He asked Helen a series of questions, took her pulse, shone a flashlight in her eyes. Finally, he helped her get to her feet and led her away.

Glad Chloe figured out that Helen was hypoglycemic. Now that there’s an EMT there, hopefully she’ll be okay.

Chapter 24e
The windshield wipers thumped back and forth as Gwen steered the Coast Guard’s Hummer toward downtown. It was a heavy duty vehicle that handled obstacles on the road better than a standard vehicle. And there were plenty obstacles. Tree branches, signs that blew off storefronts, downed power lines.
“I’m actually glad to have some time alone with you,” Gwen said, purposely pausing to see Philip’s reaction.
Facing forward in the passenger seat, he cut his eyes toward her but said nothing. His head felt foggy and he didn’t feel up to engaging in conversation.
“There’s something important I wanted to talk to you about,” she continued. “It has to do with Chloe. I feel like she transfers her anxiety onto Parker.”
Philip hadn’t noticed that, but Gwen was observing Chloe and Parker from a different point of view. “Have you told her that?”
“No. Well, yes,” Gwen replied. “She doesn’t seem overly receptive to my suggestions. Frankly, she seems more concerned with her career and not concerned enough about Parker.”
Philip’s brow knit. “Where are you getting this?” He doubted Chloe told Gwen about the club.
“She just seems very cavalier when it comes to Parker.”
Now Philip knew Gwen was making that up. Chloe was never cavalier when it came to Parker. “What? Chloe is one hundred percent devoted to Parker. Wait. First you said she’s overly anxious. Now you’re saying she doesn’t care enough. Which is it?”
“Okay, I really didn’t want to mention this, but I did a little research on Chloe. She has a pretty tawdry history that you may not be aware of.”
He assumed Gwen was talking about Chloe being forced into prostitution, but she clearly didn’t know the whole story, and Philip didn’t feel compelled to explain. “I’ve known Chloe most of my life. I know all there is to know about her.”
“Are you sure?”
Seemed to Philip that Gwen was crossing a line. Parker was her patient and while his family was an important part of his wellbeing, Philip sensed Gwen had an agenda that had nothing to do with Parker. Chloe told Philip long ago that she thought Gwen was interested in him, and even in his hazy state, he was beginning to believe Chloe was right. “And why the hell are you doing research on Chloe?”
“Because sometimes people can be blinded toward their partners’ shortcomings.”
“Okay, you’re way out of line here, Gwen.” Philip wearily leaned back on his headrest. “Can we not talk?”
“Of course.” She touched Philip’s leg. “Listen, Chloe and Parker are perfectly safe if they’re at a shelter. I think you’d be much more comfortable coming to my place and resting.”
Philip sat up straighter. He could feel himself losing his composure. “Don’t you get it?” He raised his voice. “I need to see them with my own two eyes. And I know they’re worried about me and want to see for themselves that I’m okay too, and since communications are down and I can’t reach her, I need to find her.” Being unable to communicate with your family at a time like this was hell. And he still didn’t know why they stayed in Marathon instead of going to Salem.
“I was just thinking…”
“Stop thinking!” Philip snapped. “Sorry, I’m just a little agitated. I’ll be fine once I see Chloe and Parker.”
Gwen took her eyes off the road for a moment to look at Philip.
“I’ll drive to the shelters if you won’t,” he suggested, a little concerned she was going to drive him to her place regardless.
“I don’t think you’re in any shape to drive,” she told him.
“You offered to help me find them, so help me,” he said sharply.
“Okay. Okay,” she finally said.
He leaned against the headrest again and closed his eyes.

I'm so glad Chloe was able to figure it out and help Helen.
Wow. That was a stupid move Gwen. If she had truly done her research, she would have seen how far back Chloe and Philip really go. If Philip is not in a position to drive, why would she think he's in a position to have this conversation?
