Philip will be Victor's age before they seal this deal.

I hope this doesn’t cause a rift between them If it does it just proves they aren’t ready Philip really needs to take time to heal as well For a guy who got a head injury he might want to rethink having a women who he can’t stand staying in his house.... he also may want to avoid these conversations with Chloe in the mean time

Philip and Chloe are really good at miscommunication and misunderstandings.

I agree that a romantic proposal is in order when the time is right.

Well, I see Chloe and Philip are still great at miscommunication. Though, I do agree that now is not the time for them to be thinking about getting married. They arent the same people they were in their teens.

For once, I'm glad that Philip jumped to the conclusion that he did. For two people who love and supposedly know the other one better than they know themselves, they really know very little. I REALLY hope that the proposal isn't again in a couple of days. They have been apart for several years now and both have changed. There's a lot more at stake now and they can't act like two hormonal teenagers.

These two talk at cross purposes more often than not...sigh. No way should they be thinking marriage until they can manage effective communication!

Chapter 2d
“Don’t go.” Standing in the school’s parking lot, Parker wrapped his arms around Chloe’s leg and wouldn’t let go, a ritual that had been occurring nearly every day since she enrolled him in first grade three weeks before.
“But you like school, Angel. You tell me every day how much you like going to school.”
“Stay with me.”
Chloe gently pulled her leg out of Parker’s grip and dropped to her knee to be at eye level with him. “Look at all the other children going into their classrooms.”
Parker glanced over his shoulder at the school building. Turning back, he hugged Chloe’s neck. “I don’t want you to go.”
Chloe fought back tears. She hated how dependent Parker had grown on her lately. He never used to be this needy, and it killed her to see her little man in so much distress. Maybe she shouldn’t have uprooted him. He was content in New York. He had a routine. He had a support system in his grandparents.
Chloe shook her head and brushed away that thought. Child psychiatrists would say that you can’t change your life for your children. It’s very important that they learn how to cope in all kinds of situations. He’s young, Chloe told herself. He’ll adjust.
For a moment, Chloe had a vision of herself as a teenager hiding behind dark clothes and eyeglasses. But that was different. Parker isn’t an orphan being shuttled between foster families who treated him poorly. Yes, he’s had turmoil in his childhood. His parents got divorced. His father died. But Chloe remained the constant in his life. “I’ll be back at three o’clock to pick you up, just like I’ve been doing for the past three weeks.”
“No you won’t.”
“Now Parker, when have I ever not come to pick you up?” Parker didn’t answer. “You’re going to have a lot of fun, I promise. Now, come on." She firmly took hold of his hand as she rose to her feet. “I’ll walk you inside.”

I think Parker could do with a bit of therapy after all he’s been through Chloe could even do a bit of family as well as individual for him

I totally agree, doolfan4life, it seems like some family counseling would be good for everyone in this situation.

I think at the very least Chloe should talk to Parker's teacher or the school counselor about Parker's clinginess. She should NOT just ignore it and hope it gets better

This kid is in for years of therapy...but I’m also wondering if Chloe is going to be prevented from picking him up today? (Soaps have made me SO suspicious!)

Poor Parker needs to talk to someone. Saying that it's just because he's been "uprooted" and that he will adjust is not going to work in this situation. That baby has been through more in his short little life than most will go through their entire life. Maybe it's time George comes for a visit. He's usually pretty intuitive and little Parker just adores him.

Is George in this story I wonder?

I don't often invent characters but I think George and Mary were two of the most popular. They were part of the Happily Ever After series which was set in Chicago (George was a grocery store manager and Mary was a family therapist) and are not scheduled to reprise their roles in this story. But you never know. We will be seeing a familiar face in the next chapter.
