Philip is right to be suspicious of Brady's sudden interest in opening a business in Marathon. I'm glad Chloe was honest with Philip.

Chapter 8c
“I didn’t want you to take it wrong,” Chloe explained, “to think that just because I don’t love it here means I don’t love you.”
“Okay, I get that. I know I have a tendency to overreact sometimes. But it sounds like you talked to Brady about. So why were you able to talk to him and not me?”
Chloe took a deep breath. “Because I had nothing to lose by telling him. There was no danger of hurt feelings or misunderstandings.”
Philip grew quiet. “I should have realized,” he said softly.
“Realized what?”
“Even if you didn’t say anything to me, I should have known you’d be restless here. I know you well enough to know this isn’t your kind of place.”
“Philip…”
“You belong in a big city, performing at the Met in New York, at the Vienna State Opera. The Sydney Opera House or the Paris Opera. You’re far too talented for a place like Marathon. And I’m just holding you back,” he said with regret, but without a hint of self-pity.
“Stop it Philip, you’re not keeping me from anything.”
An idea struck him, and he blurted, “We don’t need to live here, Chloe. We can live anywhere. I’m not tied here. You liked Vienna.”
“Oh sure, Vienna’s beautiful,” she said sarcastically. “Vienna wrecked my marriage.”
Philip raised a brow. “How did Vienna wreck your marriage?”
“Okay it wasn’t Vienna per se, but Brady moved to a foreign country for my career and he always felt like he was playing second fiddle to me and my aspirations. It’s what led to his drug abuse.”
“I’m not that insecure,” he said with conviction. Chloe looked askance at Philip. “Okay,” he said, “you’re right. I’m plenty insecure but not about your career. Besides, you guys were kids and didn’t have enough maturity … not that I’m sorry your marriage to Brady ended.” When she gave him another look, he said, “Sorry. I digress. If you’re asking me, I’d be perfectly happy in Vienna if that’s where you want to live.”
“But you love it here.”
“I’d be happy anywhere you are. So let’s do it.” He clapped his hands together. “Let’s move. Name the place.”
She folded her arms. “Marathon.”
“I’m serious,” he insisted.
“So am I. Look, I’m not twenty years old with delusions of grandeur anymore. I’m a mother. My first priority is Parker. And he’s staying put.”
“But—”
“No buts, Philip. He’s moved enough and he’s traumatized after what happened with Deimos. He needs stability.” Philip grew quiet again. “I feel like you’re working really hard to come up with any alternative that keeps me from working with Brady.”
“That’s not what I’m doing.”
“Isn’t it? I’ve already come up with a solution, frankly the perfect solution. We stay here in Marathon, for you, for Parker, and I get that singing job that gives me personal satisfaction and enough flexibility to keep Parker my top priority. What more is there?” Before he could answer, she said, “Please Philip, tell me this isn’t going to be something that comes between us. I need you to be okay with this.”
Taking a deep breath, he placed his hands on her shoulders and said, “Look, I can’t tell you what to do or what not to do. I hate that Brady’s involved in your life, and I don’t trust him—”
“Then trust me,” she pleaded.
He looked into her eyes for a long moment. “I do. It’s just that there’s this history between the three of us.”
“History means it’s in the past, which it is. I love you, Philip, only you.” She leaned into him.
He wrapped his arms around her. “I love you too, sweetheart, and if this makes you happy, then I support you one hundred percent.” His words sounded convincing. He just wished he could convince himself that this wasn’t the beginning of the end.

I'm sure Philip will convince himself of that.
Moving to a foreign country on a whim is not a solution. I'm glad Chloe is putting Parker first.

It’s nice that Chloe’s willing to stay in Marathon, and putting Parker first, but it still feels like she’s walking into Brady’s trap. ,

Chloe has said those words to Philip before and it didn't end well. I hate that Philip will be walking around waiting for the other shoe to drop. that's going to cause a lot more issues for them.

Things look fine...but they aren’t. These two need counseling (or George) if they’re going to have a chance of staying together.

As much as Philip pitched the move to keep her from working with brady, she pushed just as hard to make it the only option I find it hard to believe there’s no alternative that meets in the middle Can’t she stay in marathon and apply for another place that doesn’t involve brady?

I'm glad they are discussing this calmly. I think they both need some answers from Brady.

Chapter 8 d
Sitting in the passenger seat on the way to the see the club, Chloe took her phone out. “Ms. McMullen? This is Chloe Lane. That’s right, Philip’s friend.” She gave Philip a sidelong glance and mouthed “friend.” He shrugged. “Yes, my son’s name is Parker. Six years old, yes, You have a good memory. Tomorrow? Sure, I can bring him over after school. Around 3:30? That would be perfect. My email is CLane16 at Gmail. Thank you. Yes, me too.” Chloe clicked end call. “She’s going to email me her address. Why does she think I’m you’re friend?”
“I don’t know. I guess she was just being professional,” Philip said. “I told her Parker is my fiance’s son.”
“Much better than friend.” She smiled broadly. Then, recognizing the street, she said, “Here. Make a left here and then we can pull into the parking lot … well, what’s eventually going to be the parking lot.”
~~~~
They walked inside and Philip slowly surveyed the interior. If he set aside his emotions, he could see that it definitely had possibilities. But Philip didn’t believe for a minute that Brady had just found the place. He believed that Brady picked this out long before he even came to Florida, that this was all part of a grand plan. It was no accident that Brady used music to tempt Chloe into agreeing to this venture. Music is what bonded them in the first place. More than a decade ago, Brady lured Chloe away using their mutual love of music. He was Professor Higgins to her Eliza, the Phantom to her Christine.
She was so naive then, so easily taken in by Brady’s offer to coach her. Philip was naive too—to believe he himself had anything to offer her back then. But they weren’t teenagers anymore and he wasn’t really sure he had much to offer her now either. But she was here, and he’d be damned if he let Brady take her away again.
Still, Philip was smart enough to realize that if he protested, he’d come across as the villain, and Brady was already the hero in this scenario, giving Chloe purpose and something new and exciting to look forward to. “This is great,” he finally said.
“Really?” Chloe was thrilled that Philip was being so agreeable. Surprised, but pleased. “It’s got a lot of potential, don’t you think? We’re going to do a lot of the work ourselves so that will save some money, plus it will ensure that it turns out the way we want.”
Philip wanted to scream every time she used the word “we” when referring to her and Brady. So he counted to five to keep himself from going to ballistic. “I’ll help too. Use me. What can I do?”
Chloe smiled. “You know what you could do that would help me more than anything?”
Her eyes sparkled when she looked at him, and he knew he’d do anything she asked. “Tell me.”
I, too, would like to know what Philip could do to help, besides tell her how he really feels. Brady certainly didn’t just happen to find this place.
I’m glad Philip is keeping cool for now, I wish we knew what Brady was up to
She's getting a little touchy over the word "friend" when she's going on a business adventure with someone that she knows Philip is not going to be happy about. Knowing his history with Melanie or Belle, I'm sure she wouldn't like it if the tables were reversed.
I have a feeling what she's going to ask is that he put aside this feud with Brady
I'm glad that Parker has an appointment with the psychologist very soon.
It's good that Philip is keeping his cool. Blowing up will only push Chloe away.
I agree with mae00. Chloe probably wants Philip to get along with Brady for the business' sake. I'm glad Parker has an appointment.
This whole situation still just doesn’t feel right. Interested to see what happens when Philip and Brady see each other next.
