Chapter 17
M.D. REHAB
PARIS: Jan, you can't leave the Rehabilitation Center.
JAN: Look, I know it's really sudden. But, don't worry, I've got all of my meds, and everything. I just...being at the reunion tonight made me realize that it's time to change. Things are very different now than they were when I was in high school ten years ago. I don't know why I went back there tonight. Maybe I was hoping for one more Last Blast. But, maybe it was because I needed to apologize for some of the things I've done. Some of the people I've hurt. And, being there has made me realize that I have to move on.
PARIS: Jan, when I said you can't, I mean you can't. Not without my permission.
JAN: I checked myself into this rehab center because I needed to get adjusted to what life was like now after spending seven years in a coma. I checked myself in, I can check myself out.
PARIS: Yes, you can. But, I don't think that that would be advisable.
JAN: But, I do. I need to leave. I can't stay here any longer. I'm sorry, Dr. Paris, but I have to go.
Jan went to leave. But, she turned back.
JAN: Who are you?
PARIS: I'm Dr. Paris, Jan. You know that.
JAN: Yeah, I know that. But, who are you really?
PARIS: What do you mean?
JAN: The whole time I've been here, you've looked familiar to me, but I don't know why. I feel like I've seen you before. Who are you?
PARIS: You're going to find out very soon now. And, I'm sorry, but that's when everything changes.
Still a bit confused, Jan walked out of her room. Along the way, she bumped into a man in his sixties and a woman who looked to be in hear late 20s/early 30s.
JAN: Sorry.
MAN: Not a problem, my dear.
The man turned to the woman.
MAN: I still don't see why I have to stay here!
WOMAN: Walter, it's only for one night. Astrid is visiting family, and Peter and I are going to a special meeting in Chicago. Broyles thinks it would be best if you stay here while we're at the meeting. It'll only be for a few hours. I promise, Peter and I will come back for you as soon as the meeting is over.
Jan stopped and turned.
JAN: Um, sorry, did you say your name was Walter?
WALTER: Yes, I'm Walter Bishop.
Jan stared for a moment.
WHITE ROOM – FLASHBACK
WILLIAM BELL: After you've made your choice, if it's the right one, you'll meet a man named Walter Bishop. Tell him “Belly” says hello.M.D. REHAB
Jan snapped out of it.
JAN: Walter Bishop. I was supposed to give a message to Walter Bishop.
WALTER: Yes, what's the message?
JAN: “Belly” says hello.
Walter stared for a moment. Then, he turned to the woman.
WALTER: Olivia, do you know what this means?
OLIVIA: Not really, Walter.
WALTER: He did it! William did it! He found a way to bring himself back again!
Jan walked out of the Rehab building, and on her way to the next phase in her life.
BO & HOPE'S HOUSE
HOPE: Can I help you?
TOBIAS: Mrs. Brady, it's so good to see you again!
HOPE: Who are you? And, why are you here at this time of the night?
TOBIAS: I needed to see you. I know I probably should have waited until morning, but I felt that I couldn't wait any longer.
HOPE: That's nice, now who are you?
TOBIAS: Right. You wouldn't recognize me, would you? It has been a long time since we last saw each other.
HOPE: If I have to ask you one more time who you are, I won't be asking nicely.
TOBIAS: Mom, it's me. It's J.T. I'm back.
