Chapter 14

Chloe was dancing with Brady. Jan came up and tapped Chloe on the shoulder. Chloe looked at Jan, then looked back at Brady.
CHLOE: Excuse me for a sec.
BRADY: I'll be here.
Chloe and Jan walked to one of the walls of the gym.
CHLOE: What do you want, Jan?
JAN: Look, I know you're probably really angry with me, and you have every right to be. I was horrible to you in high school. But, I've had a lot of time to think over the last ten years. And, I realize now that what I did was wrong. And, I'm sorry. I know that I could never say that enough to make what I did right. Because, what I did wasn't right at all. It was sick and twisted. But, I just want you to know that I'm sorry.
CHLOE: Okay.
JAN: So...now what?
CHLOE: Now, we move on.
JAN: What?
CHLOE: What you did...was horrible. But, it was ten years ago. And, over the last ten years...well, let's just say that I've made my fair share of bad choices over the years. But, I've moved on. I think it's time for all of us to move on. Now, excuse me.
Chloe walked back up to the microphone. The music was cut off again.
CHLOE: Can I have everybody's attention again, please?
Everybody in the gym turned to look at Chloe.
CHLOE: Are we all having a good time tonight?
Everybody clapped and cheered.
CHLOE: Good! Now, I'm just gonna need your attention for a few minutes. Some of you may know me better than others. In case some of you either don't remember me, or you do remember me, but by a nickname...
JASON (yelling): Ghoul Girl!
Philip punched Jason in the face. Jason punched Philip back. Mr. Woods walked over and grabbed Jason.
MR. WOODS: Let's have a little chat outside, Jason.
CHLOE: As I was saying, some of you might remember me by a nickname such as Ghoul Girl. My real name is Chloe Lane, and I was the class valedictorian for the Class of 2002. And, I really could not have chosen a better class to graduate with. Seriously, you guys are amazing. And, ten years later, you still are. Some of you have stayed in touch, and some of you haven't. We learned a lot in high school, and we learned a lot after, too. We've learned what the real world is like. We've learned that sometimes you have to hit bottom before you can start your way up again. We've learned that some people really can change, and that some never will. We've learned who our true friends are. And, I am blessed to have such great friends. Let's hear it for the Class of 2002!
Everybody clapped and cheered again. After a minute or two, Chloe put a hand up. Everybody got silent.
CHLOE: Now, when we graduated, we picked out a special song. “Our” song. A song that, years from now, when we're all sitting in rocking chairs in a nursing home, listening to an oldies channel on a radio, and this song comes on, we'll smile and think back to the four years we spent here at Salem High. Well, I've pulled some strings, and the modern Salem High band, mixed with the Class of 2002 Salem High band are willing to perform this with me. But, I need your help. I need you...all of you, to sing this along with me. You all know the words. So, let's do it!

I loved Chloe's speech. It was perfect. And now she's going to sing "I Need You" and I'm going to cry. I'm starting to cry now in anticipation. This is a wonderful story Andre and you're doing a great job mending the fences and making up for the damages done years ago. Oh and yay for Philip decking Jason.

I'm really looking forward to the next chapter.

Chapter 15

SALEM HIGH
CHLOE (singing): As we go on, we remember all the times we had together. And as our lives change, come whatever, we will still be Friends Forever!
The applause was deafening.
CHLOE: Shawn, Belle, Philip, Mimi, Brady, Rex, Brady, I need you guys up here! You too, Jan!
The group all went up.
JAN: Even me?
CHLOE: Yeah. Like I said earlier, it's time to move on. It's time for everybody to move on. Grab a microphone, everybody!
Shawn-D, Philip, Mimi, and Jan got microphones. Shawn-D shared his with Belle, Philip with Melanie, Mimi with Rex, and Chloe with Brady. The band started playing. Click the link to follow along:

Chapter 16

SALEM HIGH
All of the people in the gym at Salem High clapped. After the clapping and cheering died down, Chloe picked up her microphone again.
CHLOE: Thank you all so much for joining me on that song! That was amazing! I love you guys so much! I'd also like to thank your tech guy, Kevin Lambert, another graduate from the Class of 2002, for helping us all with the sound!
Kevin walked out from behind his curtain and waved. Mimi walked over to him. Some music started playing in the background. Click to listen to it:
MIMI: Kevin?
KEVIN: Hey, Meems.
MIMI: But..what are you doing here? I thought you were at MIT or some other huge university.
KEVIN: I was. But, when I heard that Salem High was having the reunion for the Class of 2002, I had to come.
MIMI: Well, it's good to see you again.
KEVIN: Good to see you, too.
Meanwhile, Philip and Melanie were dancing.
MELANIE: It was really cool that you guys got to do that song.
PHILIP: Yeah. It was fun.
Then, Cynthia walked over.
CYNTHIA: Mind if I cut in?
PHILIP: I'd prefer that you didn't.
CYNTHIA: Oh, come on, now. Is that any way to speak to the mother of your child?
Suddenly, Philip and Melanie stopped dancing. The two stared at Cynthia with a mixture of shock and confusion. Cynthia just smiled back at them. Chloe and Brady were dancing as well.
BRADY: You put on a really good reunion, Chloe. Everyone's having a great time.
CHLOE: Thanks. So, I was wondering, if you're not doing anything next weekend, would you like to go to dinner with me?
BRADY: Sure. I'd love to.
CHLOE: Cool.
Chloe and Brady stared into each others eyes. They had done so many times. But, this time, they saw something different. They saw a spark. The old spark they had first seen back when Chloe was in high school. They stood there, getting lost in each other's eyes. And, then, Brady leaned in. And he and Chloe kissed.

M.D. REHAB
Tobias had taken Jan back to the rehab center, and then said that he had to go as he had some business to do. After a few minutes of relaxing, Jan looked up and saw that Dr. Paris had entered the room.
PARIS: Good evening, Jan. How was the reunion?
JAN: Great! I loved it! Thank you so much for letting me go!
PARIS: Well, I'm glad you had a good time. Now, you should probably get some rest. It's back to work with me tomorrow.
JAN: Um, actually, Dr. Paris, there's something I want to tell you.
PARIS: What's that, Jan?
JAN: It's when your lips move and words come out, but that's not important right now.
PARIS: Okay. Then, what is important right now?
JAN: I'm not going to continue being your patient anymore. I'm leaving Salem. Tonight.

BO & HOPE'S HOUSE
Bo and Hope were just getting ready for bed, when a knock came on the door.
HOPE: Who could that be?
Hope opened the door. Tobias was standing there.
TOBIAS: Hi, Hope.

Great chapter, Andre. I don't think Cynthia and Philip share a child. At least I hope not. I think she was just trying to get attention.

LOL at Jan's explanation of "telling."

Yay, we're going to find out the connection between Hope and Tobias!
