Chapter 230
SAMI & LUCAS' APARTMENT
Lucas sat down, with two cups in his hands. He handed one to Sami.
SAMI: Thanks.
LUCAS: So, I take it that was your mother on the phone.
Sami nodded.
SAMI: She's having John look into Thomas, see what the guy's all about.
LUCAS: That's a good idea.
SAMI: I just want you to know, whether Thomas was telling the truth or not, you don't have anything to worry about.
LUCAS: I didn't think I did.
SAMI: That's good. Because, I want you to know...I am in. I am all in. It may have taken me a long time to realize this, but Lucas, you are the only man I want. The only man I'll ever want. The only man I'll ever need.
LUCAS: Well, that's good, because you are the only woman I'll ever need.
SAMI: What I'm trying to say is, you're not gonna get rid of me that easily, general.
LUCAS: Nor would I ever want to.
Sami and Lucas kissed.
SAMI: Good. I've actually been thinking about this for a while...
Sami got off the couch and knelt on the ground.
LUCAS: What are you doing?
Allie came out of her room just as Sami pulled a ring out of her pocket. Allie stood in the doorway of the living room, and put a hand over her mouth.
SAMI: Lucas Horton, will you marry me?
Lucas smiled and took Sami by the hand.
LUCAS: Yes.
Sami put the ring on Lucas' finger, then pulled him into a kiss.
ALLIE: Yes!
Allie did a fist pump into the air.
ROYAL BOTANIC GARDENS, MELBOURNE – AUSTRALIA
Andrea and Trix were talking to Mr. Woods.
ANDREA: So, as you can see, I need to take Trix back home so she can get her stuff.
WOODS: Yes, I see. And I agree. Trix will need her things. I'll ask one of the others to come with you.
Mr. Woods turned.
WOODS: Kyle, come here, please.
ANDREA: Is that really necessary? I mean, I am Beatrix's mother.
WOODS: Yes, I understand that. However, it's protocol that any student who is separating from the group must be accompanied by a chaperone.
ANDREA: Again, I'm her mother.
WOODS: Miss Somers, I'm sure you're aware that I mean a chaperone from Salem High. That's just the way it goes. I have to have my students stay with their chaperones. If she were just walking around the garden, that would be different.
Andrea grimaced, but soon recovered.
ANDREA: I see.
Mr. Canning, the Australian Studies teacher walked over.
CANNING: You wanted to see me, sir?
WOODS: Yes, I'm sure you've met Beatrix.
CANNING: Hiya. How're you goin'?
TRIX: Not bad, thanks.
WOODS: This is her mother, Andrea Somers. Miss Somers and her daughter would like to retrieve her things so that she can be more equipped for the rest of our trip, as well as her stay in Salem once we return. Could you go with them, please?
CANNING: Sure thing.
WOODS: Thank you.
TRIX: Thanks, Mr. Canning. And Mr. Woods.
WOODS: No problem. We'll be leaving here around 4, so if you aren't back by then, we'll meet you at the motel. Have a good afternoon.
TRIX: Thanks.
Trix, her mother and Mr. Canning walked away.
