Not quite,
Kpatch. The whole island is Melaswen. The force field just separated the part that looks like Salem from the rest of the island. From what I recall, in the real show from the Melaswen story, there was a section of land outside of "Salem" separated by a force field. And either way, I've added one if there wasn't.
And now, preview day 2.
Chapter 2
TUNNELS
Deep beneath the DiMera Mansion, Chad, Cassie and Rex were still making their way through the tunnels.
CHAD: I think we've gone this way before.
REX: We have. I recognize the shape of these rocks.
CHAD: Well, hopefully, we'll find an exit soon.
SLICER
The evening was going well. All the teens were having fun.
CLAIRE (whispering): Chase, can we go outside for a moment?
CHASE: Sure.
Claire and Chase got up and went outide.
CHASE: What's up?
CLAIRE: Thanks for everything the last couple days. You're really sweet.
CHASE: No problem.
CLAIRE: So...what you said, at the Last Blast the other night...did you really mean that?
CHASE: You mean about me liking you?
CLAIRE: Yeah.
CHASE: Of course I did. And I still mean it now. I like you, Claire.
CLAIRE: Good. Because, I've kind of had this major crush on you for months. Really, it's been since I came back to Salem last Thanksgiving. And every time I think about you, I get butterflies in my stomach. But, like, the good kind, you know? And now I'm rambling...
CHASE: Hey, it's okay.
CLAIRE: What I'm trying to say is...I like you a lot, too. And this whole night, I've just wanted to...
Claire kissed Chase.
CLAIRE: ..do that.
Chase leaned in and the two kissed again. Then, they took each other by the hand and smiled.
SALEM PLACE
Shawn-D and Belle had helped Jan over to a table. She was still shaking.
SHAWN-D: What happened? What's wrong?
JAN: I...I remember...
SHAWN-D: What do you remember?
JAN: I...was raped.
DIMERA MANSION
Bart and André were now in the basement with Dr. Rolf. Hugh was down there, as well.
ANDRE: Is it ready, Rolf?
ROLF: It certainly iz.
BART: What's Irish doing here?
Bart pointed to Hugh.
ANDRE: He's one of us.
HUGH (American accent): I certainly am.
Hugh tugged at his cheek, revealing his face to be a mask. He pulled it off to reveal his true identity.
ANDRE: Welcome home, Peter.
Peter Blake smiled.
PETER: It's good to be back.
ANDRE: Unfortunately, this reunion will have to be postponed. We have other matters to attend to right now. Rolf, the device.
Rolf handed André a black box with a big red button on it.
ANDRE: This would have been so easy if they had just been content with their lives as they are.
MONTAGE

Melaswen shook, then there was a huge explosion.
