AISLING’S HOUSE - GALWAY, IRELAND
Claire and Chase shook hands with Eamon and Ryleigh.
CLAIRE: Nice to meet you.
EAMON: Same here. How’re you liking Ireland so far?
CHASE: It’s nice, so far. We spent most of the morning looking around Galway. It’s really beautiful here!
EAMON: Aye, that it is.
RYLEIGH: So, you’re really from America, then? That’s fab! I’d love to go there someday, it sounds like such good craic!
CLAIRE: Yes, we’re really from there. And yeah, it’s nice. Maybe you guys should come, sometime.
RYLEIGH: That would be so cracker!
EAMON: So, what do you lot do there?
CLAIRE: Well, we’re both in college at the moment. I’m studying music.
CHASE: She’s an awesome singer!
EAMON: Ach, sure we’ll have to have you down the Pub next time we’re putting on a karaoke night.
CLAIRE: That’d be really cool!
CHASE: And I’m studying to be a lawyer. I also work part time at my Dad’s firm.
RYLEIGH: That’s a coincidence. Our Ash here’s a barrister.
AISLING: Mostly just local cases.
CHASE: That’s what my Dad does, too.
EAMON: So, where’s the aul man?
AISLING: Upstairs, still. He said he’d be down in a wee bit, but still hasn’t shown himself. Was about to send a search party, to be honest.
RYLEIGH: I’ll go.
Ryleigh practically ran up the stairs.
EAMON: You should come ‘round ours sometime, meet my wife and other daughter.
CHASE: That’d be good. Aisling was just showing us some pictures.
CLAIRE: So, you mentioned a karaoke night at a pub. Do you or someone else in the family run a pub?
EAMON: That’d be me. The Brady Pub. It’s right down the road.
CLAIRE: That’s ironic. My Uncle Max runs a place called the Brady Pub back in Salem, and it used to belong to my Great-Grandpa Shawn, who immigrated from around here.
AISLING: It’s not technically yours yet, Eamon. It’s Great-Uncle Colm’s.
EAMON: Oh, don’t be startin’ in on me about that again. It’s practically mine already. I do most of the work there.
KEIR: Don’t let Colm hear you saying that, Eamon.
Everyone turned as Ryleigh came downstairs with Aisling’s grandfather, Keir Brady, following closely behind.
AISLING: Ah, himself, at last.
EAMON: All right, Uncle Keir?
KEIR Ryleigh told me there was quite a doings down here, so I came to see what all the carry on was.
AISLING: Granda, these are our cousins from America, Claire and Chase.
CLAIRE: Hi.
CHASE: Nice to meet you.
KEIR: So, you’re his descendants, then.
CLAIRE: If you mean Pete Brady’s, yes. He was my great-great-grandpa. I never met him, and honestly didn’t know much about him until recently.
CHASE: That’s part of why we came to Ireland, to meet this side of the Brady family, as well as go on our honeymoon.
KEIR: Right. Can’t say I ever had the occasion to meet Pete, but my Grandfather told me enough about him.
CLAIRE: Your grandfather being Padraig Brady, right?
KEIR: Aye.
CHASE: Gotcha. Well, we’re glad to meet you.
CLAIRE: Totally! Ever since Aisling and I got in touch, we’ve been so excited to meet all of you!
KEIR: Lovely. Well, if you’ll excuse me, I have some matters to attend to.
AISLING: What, now? Catch yourself on, we’ve got guests.
KEIR: I’ll be back before dinner.
EAMON: Grand, you can meet us at the Pub. I’ll have Kenna, Kady and Da meet us there, too. If you two are up for it, that is.
Claire and Chase looked at each other.
CHASE: Sure, that’d be cool.
CLAIRE: It’ll be nice to see what this Brady Pub looks like, and meet more of your family.
KEIR: Grand.
Keir nodded at Eamon and Aisling, then walked out.
CLAIRE: Did we say something wrong?
RYLEIGH: Uncle Keir’s a wee bit grumpy.
AISLING: It’s not you two. Granda’s still kind of sour about the whole situation between Pete and Padraig, even though it happened years before he was even born.
CHASE: Ah, I see.
CLAIRE: We don’t want to cause an issue-
EAMON: You’re not, love. Keir’ll get over it. He’ll have to.
RYLEIGH: Aye. He’s a wee bit prickly at first, but he’ll soon warm to ya.
KIRIAKIS MANSION
THERESA: You’re wrong. You have to be.
SHANE: I wish I was, darling. I truly do. But, I’m not. Drew is back, and he and André are planning something. Something big.
Theresa sat down on her bed.
SHANE: So, you see, that’s why your mother and I feel it’s in Tate’s best interests to take him back to D.C. We can keep him safe. I’m not saying that you couldn’t, please don’t misunderstand me, but there are types of protection that I can give him out there that he couldn’t have here, even with all of Victor’s money and power.
Slowly, Theresa nodded.
SHANE: I’m sure this must come as a shock to you. His return has been a shock to all of us. It’s not going to be forever, I promise. As soon as we catch Drew and Tate’s done with this school year, we’ll bring him right back.
THERESA: I’ll go.
SHANE: Pardon?
THERESA: I’ll go. With you, Mom and Tate. If Uncle Drew really is back, I don’t want Tate out of my sight, but I also want him to be as safe as possible. I don’t know if Brady will be up for it, since he’s finally working his way back into Victor’s good graces, but if Tate’s going, then so am I, and the two of us will just work it out.
SHANE: All right, if you’re sure.
THERESA: I am. I can’t just leave Tate at a time like this. And even though I know you and Mom’ll take good care of him like you have been, I want to help keep him safe, too. How soon do we leave?
SHANE: Tomorrow night. We’re having the dinner tonight that you and your mother discussed, then we’re taking tomorrow to tie up some loose ends, make sure everyone who needs to be is up to speed on the situation.
Theresa nodded.
THERESA: Okay.
