CLUB TBD
Sonny was working behind the bar. Kinsey walked in and over to the bar.
KINSEY: Wow. Someone looks snazzy.
Sonny looked up.
SONNY: Kinsey, hey. When did you get back?
KINSEY: A day or two ago. Ran into Will Horton nearly as soon as I got into town. He's looking pretty good. He's not the only one, I see.
Sonny rolled his eyes.
SONNY; Kinsey, we've been through this before. I'm not into you or any other woman.
KINSEY: Relax, I wasn't flirting. Well, not intentionally, anyway. I'm always flirting, that's just how I am. No, I know all about you and Will. Congrats, by the way.
SONNY: Thanks. Can I get you anything?
KINSEY: Apple martini.
SONNY: Coming right up.
Sonny began mixing a drink.
SONNY: So, what brings you back to Salem?
KINSEY: Just thought it was time I checked in on things, saw how people were doing. Of course, I had to see all of my favorite people first. Speaking of which, where's T?
SONNY: Out tonight.
KINSEY: Aw. That's a shame.
Sonny set Kinsey's drink down.
KINSEY: So, you own this place, then?
SONNY: Co-own. I'm the co-owner and manager. The other co-owner is Chad, actually.
KINSEY: Chad? No way! As in Mia's Chad?

SHAWN-D & BELLE'S HOUSE
Shawn-D and Belle were sitting on the couch watching TV.
SHAWN-D: Oh, come on, now! I'm not a psych major, but even I know that's not how DID works!
BELLE: Didn't I tell you this storyline was ridiculous?
SHAWN-D: You were right. Whoever wrote this should've talked to Aunt Kim. She's written a whole book on it.
Belle nodded. The door opened and Claire and Chase walked in.
CLAIRE: Hi.
BELLE: Hey, kids. How'd the studying go?
CHASE: Great. I'm finished with my bio project.
CLAIRE: And I'm almost done with my speech for graduation.
BELLE: That's great!
SHAWN-D: Awesome.
CLAIRE: Is it okay if Chase stays for a movie?
BELLE: Of course. You know you're welcome anytime, Chase.
CHASE: Thanks, Mrs. Brady.
Claire and Chase went upstairs.
BELLE: They are so sweet together.
SHAWN-D: Almost like a young us.
Shawn-D and Belle kissed, then went back to watching TV. After a few minutes, Shawn-D's phone went off.
SHAWN-D: It's Uncle Roman. I should take this.
He picked up the phone.
SHAWN-D: Uncle Roman, what's up? What? Really? You're sure? How soon? Okay. Yeah, I'll be there as soon as I can.
Shawn-D hung up and sighed.
BELLE: Everything okay?
SHAWN-D: I am so sorry to have to do this, but Uncle Roman says that a case we've been working on for nearly a year has just had a huge breakthrough, and I need to meet him.
BELLE: Hey, it's okay. I'm glad there was a breakthrough in the case. Now you, my amazing husband, go save the world.
SHAWN-D: I don't know about the world, but Salem, at least.
Shawn-D kissed Belle.
SHAWN-D: You are the best. I love you.
BELLE: I love you, too.
Shawn-D put his uniform on quickly and left.

I wonder what Roman called Shawn about. This should be interesting.

Chapter 428

HIGHWAY
The sleek, black car made its way down the ramp off of the highway. It passed the sign that read “Welcome to Salem”.

DIMERA MANSION – MELASWEN
JOHN: Let us return to Salem.
THOMAS: I'm afraid I cannot do that.
JOHN: That's what I thought. You said you would do anything that I asked-
THOMAS: Anything within my power.
JOHN: You know, for a man who wants to pay his debts, you sure don't seem to keen to answer my request.
THOMAS: It is not my decision alone. As I'm sure you are aware, the only person who gets final say on what goes on here is André DiMera. However, I may be able to make you a deal.
JOHN: Let's hear it.
THOMAS: I cannot make any promises, but it might be possible for one of you to leave. Possibly two, at a stretch. Though, please, do not hold me to either.
JOHN: Is that the best you can do?
THOMAS: I'm sorry, John. As I said, I like you. However, my hands are tied.
JOHN: You know so many people say that, and yet it is very rarely the case.
THOMAS: One is better than nothing.
JOHN: Still not good enough.
Suddenly, the sound of shots firing could be heard from the other room.

HORTON CENTER
Eric was holding Emmy and sitting in a chair. Jade came into the room from the hallway. She was drying her hair.
JADE: Thank you so much, Eric. I really appreciate you watching her while I was showering.
ERIC: No problem. I was glad I could help to give you a few minutes of peace. So, how are you doing?
JADE: I'm okay. Emmy's keeping me occupied, so I don't have to dwell on things too much. I just wish this whole ordeal was over with.
ERIC: I can imagine it must be stressful.
JADE: Yeah, but it's not too bad. Emmy's practically an angel.
Jade and Eric smiled.
ERIC: Your phone went off while you were in there.
JADE: Thanks.
Jade took her phone off of the charger and saw that she had a voicemail. She opened it and listened. Jade went very pale. Eric looked concerned.
ERIC: Hey, are you all right?
The phone dropped out of Jade's hand. Eric got up and put Emmy in her crib.
ERIC: Jade, what's wrong?
JADE (whispering): This can't be happening.
Jade sat down and hugged herself. Her breathing got heavy quickly. Eric got down to look her in the eyes.
ERIC: Jade, it's okay. Whatever it is, it's alright. Just breathe. Take a few deep breaths. Do what I do, okay?
Following Eric's leave, Jade took a few deep breaths. Her breathing was gradually going back to normal.
ERIC: I know this must feel frightening, but you are safe here. Did something on the phone upet you?
Jade nodded.
ERIC: Is it okay if I listen to it? It might help me to better help you.
Jade nodded again. Eric picked up the phone, clicked the voicemail and listened.

CAR
JAN: Hey, babe. It's me. I'm coming back to Salem for you, just like I said I would. You, me and that precious little one of yours are gonna be one big happy family. And this time, nothing and no one will stand in our way. Mommy's gonna make sure of that. I love you, sweetie. See you real soon.

Chapter 429

HORTON CENTER
Jade was now sitting in a chair, a coat around her shoulders. Eric walked over and gave her a cup of water. She took a drink.
JADE: Thanks.
ERIC: You're welcome. I understand that this is a very frightening experience. I honestly can't imagine what it must feel like. But, I want you to know that you're safe here. Both you and Emmy.
JADE: Nobody's safe while Jan Spears is out there.
ERIC: I spoke with my father, the police commissioner, and he's doing his best to deal with the situation. Hopefully, we'll hear something soon.
JADE: I really hope so.

CAR
Jan turned the corner, passed the sign that said “Welcome to Salem”, where she was met by a handful of police cars, lined up across the road, blocking her way.
JAN: Oh great. What now?
She pulled over and stopped. Then, she got out of the car. Several police officers, including Roman and Shawn-D, were outside, as well.
ROMAN: Stay exactly where you are, hands in the air.
Shawn-D and several of the police officers walked towards Jan. One of the officers cuffed Jan.
JAN: Well, this is quite a welcome. Took all of two seconds back in Salem for me to see you again, Shawn. Tired of Belle already? Couldn't wait another minute to see me?
SHAWN-D: You have no right to mention Belle or anybody. You do, however, have the right to remain silent.

DIMERA MANSION – MELASWEN
More shots came. The shots stopped, and the sound of a struggle came. Somebody yelled something, but neither John nor Thomas could hear it.
THOMAS: What on earth...?
JOHN: Oh, I think you'll find out soon enough.
THOMAS: What have you done?
JOHN: You should have taken the deal, Thomas.
Thomas ran out of the room, John following closely behind. By the time they got to the throne room, it was too late. At least a dozen ISA agents had gathered in the room. Both Erebus and Drew had been handcuffed, two agents on either side, with another two agents covering them. John grabbed Thomas from behind and cuffed him while Billie and Shane flanked Thomas and Steve covered John.
SHANE: Well done, team.
THOMAS: Would somebody care to explain just what the hell is going on here?
MAN: I think I can handle that.
Everyone turned as a older, distinguished looking Englishman walked into the room. He, too, was wearing an ISA suit, but his suit had a number of stripes on the lapel.
DREW: Oh good lord...
EREBUS: Is that who I think it is?
John, Billie, Steve, Shane and the other ISA agents saluted.
DREW: It is. It's Tarrington.
TARRINGTON: Thank you for the introduction, former Agent Donovan, but I am able to speak for myself, I believe. Gentlemen, I am Chief Tarrington, Director of the International Security Alliance. You three are all on the ISA's list. And, on behalf of said organisation, Thomas Banks, Andrew Donovan III and Erebus, son of Orpheus, you are under arrest.

This is an eventful day for law enforcement! I'm glad Jan and the Melaswen Three have been arrested, but the question is, will charges stick and how long will they be in jail?

Jan hasn't committed a crime yet. I wonder what charges they're going to hold her on.

Yay. The good guys got the bad guys!

So glad that for once, the good guys got the upper hand on the bad guys. But I'm not sure charges will stick and it won't be long until we see them on the streets again.

Chapter 430

SALEM TOWN LIMITS
JAN: What exactly am I being charged with, then?
ROMAN: One count of attempted kidnapping, two counts of conspiracy to murder.
JAN: I never kidnapped anyone.
ROMAN: That’s not the story Jade Michaels tells.
SHAWN-D: And that’s why it’s called attempted kidnapping.
JAN: And you’re gonna believe some high school dropout who got herself pregnant at sixteen over me? Come on, Shawn! You know me!
SHAWN-D (under his breath): Unfortunately.
ROMAN: What we think, Jan, doesn’t matter. You broke the law, and now you’re gonna have to pay for it. Now, I know my nephew here read you your rights. I suggest you use that right to remain silent.
Jan fumed silently as Roman put her in the back of his police car.
JAN (thinking): They’ll be sorry.
The door shut.
SHAWN-D: You got this covered?
ROMAN: Should have, yeah.
SHAWN-D: Okay. I’m gonna head over and inform them of the situation.
Roman nodded.
ROMAN: Right. I’m sure they’ll be relieved. You can go on home. Abe and I’ll take it from here.
SHAWN-D: Well, I can come back when I’m done.
ROMAN: I know you could, but there’s no need.
SHAWN-D: But-
ROMAN: Shawn, this is personal for you. Jan threatened your wife and daughter, and I don’t think I need to remind you of what she’s done to your family in the past. Now, I appreciate you wanting to help, but as your commanding officer, I’m telling you to sit this one out.
Shawn-D sighed.
SHAWN-D: Okay, fine.
Roman patted Shawn-D on the shoulder.
ROMAN: I’ll keep you updated on what happens. You did good out there tonight, bud.
SHAWN-D: Thanks. Well, I’ll get going, then. Catch up with you later.
ROMAN: Good deal.
Shawn-D and Roman got into their respective cars and drove away.

DIMERA MANSION – MELASWEN
The group watched as Drew, Thomas and Erebus were taken away by ISA agents.
THOMAS: We'll be seeing each other again soon, Mr. Black.
JOHN: Oh, I very much doubt that.
THOMAS: You forget, I got out once. I can do it again.
BILLIE: We'll see.
Thomas was walked away.
EREBUS: I will avenge my father. You will all pay for this.
STEVE: Only one that's gonna be doing any paying is you.
Erebus was walked away.
DREW: Handcuffs again. Must it always end like this?
SHANE: That's up to you, brother. Only you can choose the path you take next.
DREW: I'm sure we'll be seeing each other again.
SHANE: You've got brains, Andrew. I only wish you would use them for good, rather than evil.
DREW: Spare me the lecture.
Drew was walked away.
TARRINGTON: Well, as Special Agent Donovan mused earlier, well done, team. That was excellent intel you sent us, Shane.
ANNA: Excuse me, but would somebody mind telling me what the hell just happened here?
Everyone turned to look at Tony and Anna, who were standing off to one side. Most of the group had forgotten that they were there until just now.
TONY: Anna, calm down. These people are professionals.
ANNA: I don't care that they're professionals! You've been held captive on the island for weeks on end, and Billie and I were taken captive by three madmen, including Shane's evil twin. Then, suddenly twelve men and women in black show up, take down all three madmen, and then we're joined by this guy, and everything's suddenly back to normal. Am I the only one who thinks this is all a little strange?
TARRINGTON: Mrs. DiMera, I completely understand how bizarre these circumstances must seem to you. However, be assured that all will be explained. I would like to invite you, your husband, as well as Agents Reed, Johnson, Black and Special Agent Donovan onto my SuperJet, where I shall explain everything.
