Chapter 424
HIGHWAY
The car sped down the highway, making its way down the roads. The car was sleek and black, its windows tinted dark. It passed the sign that reads “You are now leaving Chicago”, and headed into the northern suburbs.
DIMERA ENTERPRISES
E.J. sat in André's office.
E.J.: What can I do for you?
ANDRE: I have heard that our friends have made it.
E.J.: I see. Well, this is interesting.
ANDRE: Indeed. It's just a shame, though.
E.J.: What is?
ANDRE: That you won't be able to see the plan come to full realisation.
E.J.: And why is that?
ANDRE: I think we both know the answer to that.
E.J. gulped and straightened his tie.
E.J.: André, whatever it is you're thinking of doing, it doesn't have to be this way.
ANDRE: I told you when Rolf brought you back that I accept nothing less than the best. You have failed to deliver.
E.J.: I haven't, though. I got you back into a position of power at DiMera. Do you think you'd be able to be here in this office without me?
André chuckled.
ANDRE: As always, Elvis, you overestimate your own importance. You seem to forget that the C.E.O. and I have the same face. I didn't need you to do anything. But you have failed me. And you should know by now that I do not accept failure.
E.J.: What are you going to do to me?
André smiled and chuckled.
SALEM INN
Knsey was unpacking her things, while talking on her phone.
KINSEY: Yeah, Will knows. I had to tell him. Babe, you know me, I can never keep a secret. Look, it's no big deal. I mean, he was gonna find out, anyway, once you got here. No, things are a bit different here, now. You'll have to wait and see. No, I don't know if Chad is still in town or not. Why? Hm. Interesting. Well, I'll see you in a few days, then. Bye.
DIMERA MANSION – MELASWEN
SHANE: I'm sorry, have we met?
STEVE: Dude, what's going on here?
Thomas smiled.
SHANE: I mean, of course, I know of you from your ISA criminal record, but apart from that.
JOHN: Shane, what are you talking about?
Thomas chuckled.
THOMAS: Ah, but of course you wouldn't know.
BILLIE: Wouldn't know what? This is why we're all here, isn't it? You want revenge on the ISA because Shane arrested you last year.
SHANE: I don't think so.
JOHN: No, you did. You even sent us a report back after you'd caught him.
SHANE: I didn't though.
THOMAS: No, but somebody quite like you did.
SHANE: What?
STEVE: God, it all makes sense now.
JOHN: We didn't install the ISA question protocol until a few months after Thomas' arrest.
BILLIE: You mean-
JOHN: That's exactly what I mean.
THOMAS: So, you've finally figured it out.
Thomas clapped, slowly.
MAN: It took a bit longer than I expected.
SHANE: Oh, I see now.
From out of the shadows stepped a figure who looked very much like Shane. In fact, you could go so far as to say that he was identical.
SHANE: Drew.
DREW: Hello, brother.
