Chapter 29 ST. LUKE'S Eric stood in his priest robes, looking out to the congregation. ERIC: Welcome to St. Luke's. It is good to have you hear this morning as we celebrate the love and forgiveness of God in Jesus Christ, our savior. Most of you will remember me as Father Eric, and after much soul searching, I'm back. It wasn't as easy as soul searching though. Eric had done this for a few reasons. ST. LUKE'S - FLASHBACK
Eric sat in a pew, looked at the cross, and folded his hands.
ERIC: Lord, I know I asked for a sign, and You've given me one. Truthfully, I had other plans. But, Your will is what I must do, not mine. This is going to be very difficult. Please, keep watch over me, guide me. And keep watch over the people of Salem in these troubling times. In Your name, Amen.
Eric stood up.
ERIC: I guess that's it. I have to be a priest again.
Madison had walked in at that moment.
MADISON: Why?
Eric turned to look at her.
ERIC: Because it's what I have to do.
MADISON: You don't have to. You could choose not to.
ERIC: No, I really couldn't. I've tried calling other priests, just to ask them to be here for a few weeks. None of them are available. I don't have a choice! I never did!
MADISON: What about us?
ERIC: What about us? You told me you weren't interested.
MADISON: I changed my mind.
ERIC: What are you even doing here? You're not supposed to be in town. You told me that you had a gig to go to in Green Bay.
NICDEVIL (as Madison): Oops. Must have slipped my mind.
ERIC: What's happened to your voice?
NICEVIL (as Madison): Oh, my voice is the least of your worries, priest.
Then, Madison changed. It was very clear that this was not the real Madison, but that NicDevil had morphed herself into Madison. However, now she was turning back into herself.
NICDEVIL: Hello, priest.
ERIC: Nicole? |

Chapter 30 ST. LUKE'S - FLASHBACK
ERIC: Nicole? Nicole, what are you doing here? How did you do that?
NicDevil shook her head.
NICDEVIL: Oh, come now, priest. Surely you already know that this is not Nicole you're speaking to.
ERIC: Don't call me Shirley. And what do you mean?
NICDEVIL: Do I sound like Nicole?
ERIC: Well...no, not really.
NICDEVIL: But you do know me, priest. Oh, not personally, but you know me. In fact, for a brief period of time, I was your mother.
ERIC: What?
NicDevil morphs into Marlena.
NICOLE (as Marlena): Yes, I was your mother for nearly a year.
ERIC: You're lying!
NICOLE (as Marlena): Eric, would I lie to you? I can't believe you would think such a thing. Don't you remember the mid-1990s?
ERIC: What about them?
NICOLE (as Marlena): Oh, that's right. You were in Colorado by then, weren't you. Didn't John or your mother ever tell you about me?
She morphs back into herself.
NICDEVIL: They never told you about what happened to your mother in 1995? She had a hell of a time.
NicDevil laughs.
ERIC: No! It can't be!
NICDEVIL: Oh, but it is! And that's not the least of it!
ERIC: No! Lucifer!
NicDevil laughed again.
NICDEVIL: So, he finally gets it?
There was a rush of cold wind. NicDevil started levitating.
ERIC: Nicole! I know this isn't you! Fight this! You've got to! You've gotta fight this, Nicole! Fight it!
NicDevil laughed.
NICDEVIL: She can't hear you now, priest! In fact, she'll never be able to hear you again! |

Chapter 31 ST. LUKE'S - FLASHBACK
Eric stood watching the now hovering NicDevil, who laughed in her cold, evil way.
NICDEVIL: It's too late, priest! You can't stop me now!
Eric fell to his knees. He made the sign of the cross on his heart, folded his hands, and began to pray.
ERIC: Heavenly Father, I love You, I praise You, and I worship You. I thank You for sending Your Son Jesus Who won victory over sin and death for my salvation. I thank You for sending Your Holy Spirit Who empowers me, guides me, and leads me into fullness of life. I thank you for Mary, my Heavenly Mother, who intercedes with the holy angels and saints for me. Lord Jesus Christ, I place myself at the foot of Your cross and ask You to cover me with Your Precious Blood which pours forth from Your Most Sacred Heart and Your Most Holy Wounds. Cleanse me, my Jesus, in the living water that flows from Your Heart. I ask You to surround me, Lord Jesus, with Your Holy Light. Heavenly Father, let the healing waters of my baptism now flow back through the maternal and paternal generations to purify my family line of satan and sin. I come before You, Father, and ask forgiveness for myself, my relatives, and my ancestors, for any calling upon powers that set themselves up in opposition to You or that do not offer true honor to Jesus Christ.
NICDEVIL: Silence!
ERIC: In Jesus' Holy Name, I now reclaim any territory that was handed over to satan and place it under the Lordship of Jesus Christ. By the power of Your Holy Spirit, reveal to me, Father, any people I need to forgive and any areas of unconfessed sin. Reveal aspects of my life that are not pleasing to You, Father, ways that have given or could give satan a foothold in my life. Father, I give to You any unforgiveness; I give to You my sins; and, I give to You all ways that satan has a hold of my life. Thank You, for Your forgiveness and Your love.
NICDEVIL: Cease with your words!
NicDevil stopped floating.
ERIC: Lord Jesus, in Your Holy Name, I bind all evil spirits of the air, water, ground, underground, and netherworld. I further bind, in Jesus' Name, any and all emissaries of the satanic headquarters and claim the Precious Blood of Jesus on the air, atmosphere, water, ground and their fruits around us, the underground and the netherworld below.
NicDevil ran over to Eric and put a hand over his mouth.
NICDEVIL: Silence! Keep quiet and never speak such words again! I will force your silence if I must!
NicDevil took her hand from Eric's mouth.
ERIC: Heavenly Father, allow Your Son Jesus to come now with the Holy Spirit, the Blessed Virgin Mary, the holy angels and the saints to protect me from all harm and to keep all evil spirits from taking revenge on me in any way.
Again, NicDevil put her hand over Eric's mouth.
NICDEVIL: I said keep silent! I didn't want to have to do this, priest, but you have left me with no choice!
NicDevil snapped her fingers. Duct tape appeared over Eric's mouth. He was tied down to a wooden chair.
NICDEVIL: And now, priest, you will join me.
Eric attempted to shake his head "no"
NICDEVIL: You refuse? Then you must be punished! Feel my wrath, priest! Gaze into your future and feel the wrath of Satan! |

Chapter 32 UNKNOWN LOCATION - FLASHBACK
He didn't know where he was.
ERIC: Where am I?
He looked around. It was very dark.
ERIC: Hello? Is someone there?
He heard footsteps coming towards him.
ERIC: Hello? Who's there?
He looked around and saw himself. Really, this was NicDevil who had morphed into him.
NICOLE (as Eric): You are worthless!
Eric reached out a hand to his doppleganger, who quickly pushed him away.
NICOLE (as Eric): Don't touch me! Don't even come near me!
ERIC: What?
NICOLE (as Eric): I can't forgive you for what you've done! And God certainly never could! You disgust me!
Eric heard those words. He remembered them well. He had said them to Nicole only weeks ago.
ERIC: Please! I'm sorry!
NICOLE (as Eric): Sorry's not good enough! You think you can make up for what you did to me?
ERIC: Please, just give me a chance!
NicDevil morphed into Father Matt.
NICOLE (as Father Matt): No second chances, Eric. You chose this path.
ERIC: I didn't know what I was doing!
NICOLE (as Father Matt): You handed me your clerical collar. That's all you needed to do. We have no room in the priesthood for you any longer.
Eric got down on his knees.
ERIC: No. It can't be like this!
NicDevil went back to her natural form.
NICDEVIL: And now, priest, prepare to feel my full wrath!
NicDevil laughed. |
