I loved seeing Bert Cooper again. He has apparently become Don's subconcious. I don't know if Roger is super rich. When you've had such an important role in business for decades, it's probably hard to step away.

Kpatch tonight in the car I turned over to NPR and this program called Fresh Air was on. They were talking to Matthew Weiner about Mad Men. I only heard a short part of it while I was driving but I heard him say something that stuck out to me. He said when he created the show his idea was about a 35 year old man who has everything but is miserable. It made me think about the first episode of the season when they played that song "Is That All There Is?" With the way Don's been acting, especially in the last episode, I wonder if Don will sort of flip things, and give up his fancy job and money and start over with nothing to try to just find happiness.

Interesting. He did seem like he was running away. And he picked up that hitchhiker. Oh! Maybe he will kill the hitchhiker and take his identity! Start a new life with another alias.

Kpatch, wow, I was not expecting Betty's story to take a turn like that. How sad. I kind of wondered when she was going up the steps so out of breath. Just when she was finally starting to go after a dream of hers. She's always had kind of a charmed life. Maybe this will bring Don and the kids together. Hope everyone else's stories don't take such a sad turn. Pete's daughter is so cute.

I feel like this whole thing was a shakedown and that's why they wanted him to go to the lodge so bad. I agree, very upsetting to see Don get beaten up for no reason.

Well, that episode made me cry. Aside from all the drama what I found most surprising tonight was that out of all the characters, Pete the weasel is the one who seems to have gotten it together and is getting a happy ending? Would you have ever thought? I really didn't get what Duck was doing or why he was doing it but I guess it worked out.
I can't believe Don gave that kid his car. I would have floored it out of that town as fast as possible after that incident.

When they first broke in I thought it had finally sunk in that he said he'd killed his C.O. and they were doing it because they thought he was a traitor. I was so worried after he told them that.

wendylou, when Sally broke down and cried, so did I. It was a rare occasion when her mother ever said she loves her. Why are they killing Betty off? Why does she need to be the victim of lung cancer? I love Betty, always have. No reunion for Don and Betty. I really hope Don calls Sally and she tells him he needs to come home. He needs to take responsibility for his children and raise them. I have a feeling he won't step up, he will think they are better off with Henry. Was this the first time we heard how the real Don Draper died? I presume that was Don's (Dick's) Commanding Officer. I don't remember hearing that story before. So strange that Don gave the kid the keys to the car and sat on the side of the road with all his worldly belongings in a paper bag. I figure the kid reminds Don of himself when he was young, so Don is giving the kid a break. "Don't waste this." Did you catch what he said was in the glove box? I thought he said "pink slip" but that makes no sense. I kind of wanted Trudy and Pete to get back together. It was a great scene when he came by in the middle of the night to tell her he wants to reconcile. He needs to be a grown up this time around. As for Duck, he is an executive recruiter. I forgot about that. He certainly is aggressive. Next week's episode is only one hour!!! Or an hour and seven minutes. They have a lot to wrap up. Or maybe not. Maybe the only thing that needs to be resolved is Don's future.

Oh Kpatch, I know what you mean about Betty's injustice but isn't that life? It's not fair. Bad things happen to good people and there is never a good time to get cancer is there? I was thinking about how cruel it was to have that happen on Mother's Day and just when Betty was doing something she was excited about. But then this episode hit home for me because in 2008 my parents and I spent Mother's Day in my dad's hospital room knowing the next day he'd very likely be told he had cancer - and he was told that. It was miserable and unfair but cancer and other tragedies don't care about holidays or fairness do they? At least as I read this morning, Betty is sort of redeemed in this way. She's going out on her own terms with strength and dignity and she told Sally she loved her and knew she'd have a good life. I hope that's true because she's losing her mother at a very young age and as you said Don's been a pretty absent irresponsible father. I too hope he steps up and I was really hoping to see him get the news. I wonder if we'll get to see that. I've seen some speculation about the last episode jumping ahead and I'm wondering if that will happen. I mean we left every character at a place where we could do that. I'd be kind of interested to see it if they jumped ahead to say a year later after Betty's death to show how they are doing. Or they could even be having Betty's funeral and everyone would contact Don to see how he's doing. That way we could see what they are up to as well. Oh - yes, Don said the pink slip was in the glove box. Probably just so the guy could prove it was his if he got asked or wanted to sell it???

That is sad about your dad. I know what you are saying. I read an article today that talked about yesterday being Mother's Day and that Betty had one of her most motherly moments ever. I kind of expect next week to be a flash forward to Betty's funeral or maybe shortly afterward. Maybe Don will take the kids to California to live (but hopefully not attempt to reconcile with Megan. Bleh.) I looked up pink slip and you are right, wendylou, it's a title to a vehicle. I associate it with getting fired from a job.

Kpatch I think I only think of pink slips for cars because of the movie Grease. You know... "We're racing for pinks." "Pinks?" "PINKS! Ownerships paper you punk!" Or something like that. I looked on my DVR and the time it showed for the finale was 1 hour and 15 minutes but maybe it rounded up. Whatever it is it won't be enough once it's over. BTW did you see that they are running the entire series starting Wednesday up to the finale? I set my DVR to record the pilot episode because I'm not sure I saw the very first one.

No Kpatch it was the first one. When the guy from the other school is setting up the race with Danny and Knicky (not sure how you spell his name).
