OMG! So much better. I loved the end. That song and the look on Don's face. It's like he didn't want to move on and he's just kind of realizing that when his place sells. He's starting over again.

Yes, so much better than last week. It was back on track. Thank goodness no Diana or Megan.
I noticed a theme. It was all about the future. Don asked Ted and Peggy and Sally about the future and he didn't like any of their answers. Then he had a really hard time coming up with a speech for Roger about the company's future. And yes, when he was standing outside his apartment, you got the impression he was lost. He had no home and his future was uncertain. Wonder if there's a message, like he's going to die by the final epi.
I liked Joan's new guy, but I don't like these late introductions of new characters.
How about Glen??? He still has a thing for Betty after all these years. I think if he would have pushed, she would have gone for it. She was obviously attracted to him. He's grown up nicely. Loved those 70s sideburns.
I remember Rye Playland!

wendylou, do you think Peggy and Pete will meet their child in the last few episodes?

I don't think so Kpatch but I guess it could happen. I can't imagine it would mean much to Pete anyway. He has a daughter with his ex-wife that he barely even sees. I can't believe this week will mark the halfway point already. I so want a spinoff that focuses on the women making it in the 70's and maybe even 80's. Don't think we'll get it but I would love it.

Mad Women? That would be awesome. I will miss my Sunday fix. Although it's hard to have a fix for a few weeks every year and a half. LOL.

I think they ARE going to deal with Peggy's child based on her interactions this episode.
Was that Nikki Deloach playing the child actress's mother? It looked like her to me.

Well, you're right about that and I'm so glad it was with Stan. I don't know if they'll ever be anything more than friends but I love their relationship and I thought it was a sweet tender moment. He always kind of talks to her like she's a bitter spinster career woman who's never had much life out of the office. Now he knows there's something much deeper there.
I like that Pete showed Joan a bit of respect with that comment about McCann not knowing who they're dealing with.

wendylou, I was having a little bit of a hard time following the takeover stuff. Were you? When they announced that the agency was being absorbed, no one was paying attention. I guess this was showing the breakdown of people's belief in what their employer says? Not sure, but it was definitely different from other announcements. I liked Pete and Trudy's scenes for the first time ever. It seemed like they might be hinting at a reconciliation. Pete's always punching someone. LOL. Everyone had someone to lean on in this episode except Don. Roger has a new girlfriend. Ted has a new girlfriend. Joan has a new boyfriend. Peggy has Stan (I know you have been hoping to see something romantic between the two of them.) Don shows up at Diane's place and she's gone. Even the guy inside the apartment who asked if he wanted a drink was asking his partner, not Don.

No Kpatch, I didn't get the reaction over the takeover either. Except maybe Joan's reaction - as she said, they didn't mention an account for her. And I think those men that were such pigs to her a couple of episodes ago were from McCann. I guess everyone was all worked up because anytime a takeover happens not everyone's job is kept so all the "lower" employees were probably worried about that. I didn't understand Don, Roger and Pete's reactions as it sounded like they were guaranteed jobs on good accounts. Maybe they didn't like the idea of losing some of their control or authority. Or maybe they like the hunt. At first I thought this was going to turn into them moving to California but then they shot that down. You're right that Don was all alone. Sad. I have to admit though that I was glad not to see Diane the Downer return. I hope she doesn't come back. I am at least interested to see how this affects all of them now. I'm guessing we'll see some of them head off in different directions. Oh - just a couple side notes. Lou - what a dork. He thought he was giving them some big kiss off and no one cares. Poor Roger. I guess he's into Megan's mother but I thought she was a horrible, miserable woman. Blech!

Kpatch, I was so glad she wasn't there. Please let him give up on that. I'm thinking it's not really her he's after. He's just lost all interest in advertising. I'm guessing that's why he picked up the hitchhiker and said he could go to Minnesota. He just doesn't feel any reason to head back. Poor Joan. The women kind of seemed to get screwed over. I loved Peggy roller skating drunk while Roger played the organ.

This wasn't my favorite episode wendylou. I didn't like Don's road trip and quest to find Diane. I think you are right that he feels lost. To me, the episode had to do with independence. The SCP folks were trying to maintain independence and control, except for Pete and Ted who fit in fine at McCann. When Don turned around in that meeting and saw that plane flying by the Empire State Building, it almost seemed like a foreshadow of WTC. Joan was the only one who seemed truly dedicated to making a success of her new role, and she is the one who wound up losing out. I'm glad Roger convinced her to take the money and run. What was up with Roger anyway? Is he going to work at McCann Erickson or not? My favorite scene was Don and Betty. He clearly wanted something from her that he wasn't going to get. I like their relationship now. I would love to see them get back together, but I don't think that's going to happen. I didn't understand the skating scene. Did that have to do with freedom? Childhood innocence? Carefree abandon? How did you interpret that?

I really don't know about the skating scene's symbolism Kpatch. It just seemed fun and carefree. I'll tell you what I thought when Don was staring up at that plane - which was right next to a very tall building, combined with him pushing on the windows of his new office (were they sealed shut?) - was that maybe those predictions about him jumping were going to come true. I really hope not.

I forgot about that possibility wendylou, having to do with the graphic image of Don falling down the outside of a building in the opening credits. That would be very dramatic. Not necessarily great drama. I'd hate for him to do that to his kids, frankly. I think they said he was on the 19th floor. There was a time when the buildings in New York didn't have sealed windows, you could actually open the windows. Probably before code enforcement.

I think it's probably nothing and I certainly hope that isn't the way Don's story ends. It was probably put in there specifically for the people speculating about that. Sort of as a tease. Do you ever wonder why Roger doesn't just retire? Isn't he a gajillionaire? Oh, Kpatch, what did you think of Bert Copper's appearance to Don? He was brought up a lot last night between that and that super-pervy "artwork."
