I'm pretty sure I know who it is. He will be a force to be reckoned with.

Chapter 20 PIER Ceri and Sydney were walking along. CERI: You sure you're okay? SYDNEY: Yeah, I'm fine. I just have this weird feeling that I can't shake. CERI: Like what? Suddenly the two heard a noise. They turned around to see Jeremia D., whose face was still hidden by a hat and sunglasses. SYDNEY: Like we're being watched. JEREMIA D.: Hello, girls. How are we tonight? SYDNEY: Who are you? JEREMIA D.: You know very well who I am, Sydney. SYDNEY: How do you know my name? JEREMIA D.: I know everything about you. SYDNEY (thinking, voice-over): Why does that voice sound so familiar. It's almost like...no. I can't be. JEREMIA D.: Well, almost everything. The last five or so years get a bit sketchy. But, we used to be close. SYDNEY: I've never seen you before in my life. JEREMIA D.: Oh, but you have. And I have seen you. The only one here I haven't seen is your little friend here. She's quite a pretty one, isn't she? But, enough with the pleasantries. Jeremia D. took off his hat and sunglasses to reveal the horrifying truth. He was one of the last people Sydney would want o see or would ever think that she'd see again. He was E.J. DiMera. E.J.: I think it's time you had a chat with your dear old daddy, don't you, Sydney? An excerpt from the journal of Ceridwin Alamain There was one thing I always wanted to ask Sydney...back when we were first getting together. I wanted to know about that father of his. How any man could be so cold and calculating and hurtful to their own daughter is beyond me. How a man who was supposed to love and protect his daughter could hurt his daughter so terribly. And I wanted to know why. But, I don't need to ask anymore. I know the answer now. You see, E.J. DiMera is evil because he was born of evil. He is the spawn of Satan. I'm writing this in case anyone ever finds it so you can see...you can see how the world nearly ended.

The letters in Jeremia D spell EJ Dimera if you rearrange them. That's how I figured out it was him. So scary for Sydney that he's back from the dead...or not so dead.

Chapter 21 THE PIER E.J. DiMera stood in front of Sydney and Ceri. Though the last time he was on the Pier he had appeared to die, he was very much alive now. E.J.: Good to see you again, my dear. SYDNEY: How is this possible? You died! I saw you die! I killed you! E.J.: Correction, you tried to kill me. As you can see, you didn't succeed, as I am very much alive. CERI: Sydney, who is this? E.J.: I, my dear, am Sydney's father, E.J. DiMera. And who are you? CERI: Ceri Alamain. Sydney's girlfriend. EJ.: Girlfriend? E.J. laughed. E.J.: I didn't know you rolled that way, Sydder. But, that's all right. You picked a pretty one, I'll give you that. SYDNEY: Stay away from us, daddy! E.J.: Why? Are you going to shoot me again? Try to kill me? You know why it didn't work the first time, don't you? Because I was wearing a bullet-proof vest. That, and I'm a DiMera. DiMeras can't die. SYDNEY: That's impossible! E.J.: And yet, you can see that I'm here, so it's obviously not impossible. I'm back, Sydney. And I've got a lot of unfinished business here. But, I must be going. Wouldn't want to give myself away to anybody else. You will see me again, Sydney. And you as well, Ceri. Very soon, I shall have my revenge. E.J. turned and walked away. Sydney stood, frozen and silent with fear. If E.J. is alive, then what did that mean for her? Ceri walked over and put a hand on Sydney's shoulder. SYDNEY: I think I'm going to be sick. Ceri walked Sydney over to the edge of one of the docks. Then, Sydney was sick. Ceri held her hair back. She also started rubbing Sydney's back. After she was finished being sick, Sydney sighed. The two sat down. Ceri went into her pocket and handed Sydney a mint and a napkin. SYDNEY (whispering): Thanks. CERI: No problem. Sydney put the mint in her mouth and used the napkin to wipe her face. Ceri resumed rubbing Sydney's back. Sydney began to cry. Ceri put both arms around Sydney as her tears were coming faster.

Chapter 22 THE PIER - FLASHBACK
FIVE YEARS EARLIER A ten year old Sydney stood on the Pier. She had just pulled a gun on her father. Of course, by this point, she wasn't herself. She didn't even know what was happening. One of her others was in control. And she had just killed her father. She watched as his body fell into the murky depths of the water. Sami ran out. She had seen everything. She put a hand on her daughter's shoulder. SAMI: Sydney? Sydney? Sydney's eyes slowly went back to normal. She fainted. Sami caught her and picked her up before she could fall. She carried her daughter away. Sami was nearly in shock. She knew that Sydney had been acting different lately, but had he really just seen what she thought she had seen? Had she just watched as Sydney killed her own father? Don't get her wrong, she was glad E.J. was gone. He had caused so much trouble for everybody. There would be no tears shed for him. But hat voice. The voice that Sydney was speaking in just moments ago, it didn't even sound like Sydney.
SAMI & LUCAS' APARTMENT - FLASHBACK When Sami took Sydney home, nobody else was there. Lucas was still working and the twins were at the Brady Pub with their grandmother. Of course, Sami would have to tell Lucas what happened. She laid Sydney down and started trying to think about how to rationalize this and explain it to Lucas. Then, Sami could tell that Sydney was about to wake up. She was crying. Sami went over to Sydney and rubbed her shoulder. SAMI: Ssh. It's okay. You're all right. Sydney's eyes opened. SYDNEY: Mommy? SAMI: I'm here, Sydney. It's okay. SYDNEY: I had a horrible dream. Daddy was in it. He... SAMI: Whatever your father did, he won't have the chance to do again. He's not gonna hurt you again. SYDNEY: But he did hurt me. And not just in my dream. He hurt me in real life. SAMI: What did he do. Sydney started crying again. SYDNEY: I can't tell you. If I tell you...he'll do it again. He'll hurt me again. SAMI: He hurt you?! Sydney, what did he do? How did he hurt you? Sydney shook her head. SAMI: Sydney, I promise, your daddy's not gonna hurt you. Trust me. Mommy's made sure that your daddy's never gonna hurt you again. Now, please tell me. SYDNEY: It's embarrassing. SAMI: Whatever he did, it's not your fault. You didn't do anything wrong. Sydney sniffled. SAMI: Do you want me to call Grandma Marlena? Would you feel better talking to her? Sydney nodded.

Poor Sydney. She suffered so much in her young life. I bet EJ was thrilled that Sami spent years in prison for his murder.

Chapter 23 FIVE YEARS EARLIER SAMI & LUCAS' APARTMENT Marlena walked in. MARLENA: Where is she? SAMI: Hey, Mom. Upstairs. MARLENA: What exactly happened? SAMI: E.J. died. And, Sydney just had a nightmare. It had to do with something E.J. did to her. I tried to talk to her, but she'll only talk to you. MARLENA: E.J. is dead? SAMI: Yes. But, I think, at the moment, Sydney is more important. MARLENA: Right. Of course. Does she know, that E.J.'s dead? SAMI: I don't know. I haven't told her, but I don't know. MARLENA: Okay. I'll go up and see her. Marlena walked up the stairs. She knocked on Sydney's bedroom door. MARLENA: Sydney? It's Grandma Marlena. The door opened and Sydney ran into Marlena's arms. SYDNEY (crying): Grandma... MARLENA: Ssh. It's okay. It's okay. I'm here, sweetheart. Come on, let's sit down. Sydney and Marlena sat on the edge of Sydney's bed. Marlena kept an arm around Sydney. SYDNEY (whispering): Grandma, I need to tell you something. But, you can't tell anyone else. MARLENA: Okay. What is it? Sydney sniffled. SYDNEY: This is...really embarrassing. MARLENA: Sydney, whatever happened, I'll always be here for you. You can trust me. SYDNEY: A few days ago, I was at daddy's house. Daddy got real mad at me. I don't know why. Then...he...he touched me. I tried to tell him to stop, but that made him madder. And he...pinned me down, and... Sydney would have gone on, but she was now crying too hard to make words come out. She leaned in and put her head on Marlena, who wrapped her arms around her.
