Chapter 38 OUTSIDE THE BRADY PUB SYDNEY: Do you think the plan's going well? CERI: I hope so. John walked up. JOHN: Only one way to find out. Let's take a walk in the park. PARK E.J.: No. No, no! This is impossible! It can't be true! SAMI: It's true, E.J. We finally got you. E.J.: You're in on this too, Samantha? But, what about all that stuff about running away with me? SAMI: It was an act. All of it. It was all part of the act. E.J.: No! I refuse to believe that this is how it goes down! Sydney, John, and Ceri walked in on the scene. SYDNEY: Well, believe it, daddy. It's all over. E.J.: Sydney...how did you? SYDNEY: Betray you? Tell the cops that you were still alive? It wasn't that hard. E.J.: But, I'm your father! SYDNEY: Wrong. Lucas is my father. You're just the man who raped my mom and got her pregnant with me. You're the man who tortured me from the time I was born. You have done unspeakable things to me. But, I refuse to be a victim of you any longer. You are nothing to me. E.J.: Don't say that, Sydney! Don't say that! We're still blood! You're still my daughter! LUCAS: Shut up, E.J. It's over. Time to move on. JOHN: The only place he'll be moving on to is hell. E.J. pulled out a gun. E.J.: Then, she'll be going with me! E.J. pulled the trigger. A bullet hit Sydney in the stomach. |

Chapter 39 PARK John ran over, put E.J. in a headlock and wrestled the gun from him. JOHN: Thank you. He pointed the gun at E.J. Meanwhile, Sami, Lucas and Ceri ran to Sydney. SAMI: Sydney? Sydney? CERI: Stay with us, Sydney! Lucas was calling an ambulance. John and Tony grabbed E.J. so he wouldn't run away. Very soon, an ambulance came and took Sydney. Sami, Lucas, and Ceri ran to the Brady Pub to get a car to meet the ambulance at the hospital. Tony and John let go of E.J., but he was surrounded on all sides, so he couldn't go anywhere. TONY: Hope you didn't have a hot date tonight, Elvis, as I don't think you'll be going anywhere for a long time. E.J.: So now what? You gunna arrest me? Send me to prison? BO: Prison's too good for you. We have other ideas. E.J.: Well,,please, any time you wish to fill me in, I'm dying to know. SHANE: You might want to rephrase that. E.J.: What? TONY: I'm sure I already know the answer to this, but, do you read the bible, Elvis? E.J.: Not regularly, no. TONY: There's a passage that these three ISA agents and the police commissioner have memorized. Ezekiel 25:17. JEANNIE: "The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men." Jeannie got out her gun and pointed it at E.J. SHANE: "Blessed is he who in the name of charity and good will shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children." Shane got out his gun and pointed it at E.J. BO: "And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers!" Bo pointed his gun at E.J. JOHN: "And you will know my name is the Lord...when I lay my vengeance upon thee!" John pointed the gun he had gotten from E.J. at E.J. E.J.: Oh, please. A Pulp Fiction homage? Was that supposed to scare me? Was that... E.J. would never get to finish that sentence. For at that moment, Bo, Shane, Jeannie, John, and Tony (who had been hiding a gun in his coat) pulled the triggers on their guns several times in quick succession. By the time they were done, E.J. was swiss cheese. |

Chapter 40 PARK JOHN: Which one of us was it? BO: There's twenty bullet holes in him. I doubt that we'll ever know. TONY: The important thing is that he's dead. For real this time. JOHN: Even if we never know whose bullet killed him, just knowing hat he's dead is enough. Now, if you'll excuse me, my granddaughter is in the hospital. TONY: I'll come with you. SALEM UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL Sami and Lucas were standing at the nurse's desk, waiting for some news from the doctor. Lucas looked over to his right. Ceri was sitting on one of the waiting chairs. LUCAS: I'm gonna check on Ceri, make sure she's all right. I'll be right back. Sami nodded. Lucas walked over to Ceri and sat down next to her. LUCAS: Should hear something soon. CERI: I hope so. LUCAS: It's getting kinda late. Maybe you should... CERI: I'm not leaving. I texted my dad to let him know I'd be home late. I'm not leaving until I know Sydney's okay. LUCAS: All right. CERI: How could he do that? How could he do all of those things to his own daughter? LUCAS: When you live in Salem long enough, you come to learn that the DiMera's are scum. Not all of them, of course. Sydney and E.J.'s older brother Tony are two of the good ones. But, the majority of the family are the spawn of satan. And, unfortunately, Sydney's father isn't even the worst of them. Daniel walked out. Lucas and Ceri got up and walked over by Sami. SAMI: Daniel, what's going on? What's happening to my baby girl? DANIEL: The bullet...didn't do any...serious harm. None of her...arteries...were ruptured. Apparently...E.J.'s...not a very good...shot. The bullet...only...grazed her. She will have...some...stomach pain...for a few days, but...on the whole...she will be...fine. All three gave a sigh of relief. Sami and Lucas hugged. SAMI: That is great news! Can we see her? DANIEL: She is...sleeping...right now. But, yes...you three can...go in and...see her. |
