Next chapter is ready....
Melanie, “What do you mean this has EVERYTHING to do with me? What???”
“Well,” starts Phillip, “we have been going to counseling now for quite a while…”
“Yes, so”
“I think we have come a long way in our relationship, don’t you?” asks Phillip
“You know I do, Phillip, but what has that got to do with anything?” wonders Melanie
Phillip looks around, as if just noticing for the first time where they are. He pulls Melanie close to him and says, “Melanie Layton Kiriakis, I love you more than anything, you know that right?”
Melanie says, “Yeah, I love you to Phillip, but where is this going?”
Phillip puts his hand in his pocket and brings out her engagement / wedding ring set she gave back to him when they separated. She looks at it, and then looks at him.
“I didn’t know you kept those”
Phillip replies, “I only kept them till I could put them back on your finger where they belong.”
“Melanie, I never did sign the divorce papers, so technically we are still married. Can I put these back on your finger and make our marriage more than a technicality?”
“Phillip, I thought you had signed the papers and we were divorced, but since we aren’t… I would love to be your wife again.”
Phillip pulls Melanie close to him and neither one notice Brady standing in the shadows grinning like a Cheshire cat.

Hey everybody - sorry I have been MIA, but it has been crazy the past couple of weeks. Anyhow here is the next installment.
Part 8
Meanwhile, Julie and Maggie are at the Horton Cabin and talking about Victor’s proposal and the surprise wedding reception for Chloe and Elliott.
“Aunt Maggie, do you know what you are getting into by marrying Victor?”
“Julie, I don’t think anyone knows what they are getting into when they get married, but if you are talking about his ‘business’, then yes I do. All I know is that Victor makes me laugh, cry, want to slap him silly when he does stupid things, but most of all he makes me FEEL. I never thought I would be able to feel again.”
“I want you and the rest of the family to be happy for us and I need your help Julie in planning everything.”
“Aunt Maggie, I will be happy to help you… I just want you to be happy and I see that Victor does make you happy. Now is this going to be happen before or after the surprise wedding reception for Chloe and Elliot?”
“Oh no, it is going to happen after that. I told Victor that we were not going to steal the spotlight from Chloe and Elliot’s night by announcing that we were engaged. Only a few people know… you, Melanie, Phillip and Brady.”
“Well of course, I won’t tell anyone except Doug.”
“Good, now I need to call Chloe and arrange the surprise engagement party.”
Chloe is hanging up the phone as Elliot and Pat come in.
Elliot looks at her and says “Honey, is everything okay? You look kinda funny.”
“Oh, hey sweetheart, I didn’t hear you come in. Did you and Pat have fun at the park?”
“Yes we did, but what was that phone call about?”
“Oh, that was Maggie Horton, owner of Chez Rouge.”
“Chez Rouge, isn’t that the fancy restaurant in town?”
“Yes – she is giving us, meaning you and me, a romantic dinner for two to celebrate our marriage this Friday evening.”
“Really, that’s great – because we ran into Phillip at the park and he was wondering if he and Melanie could keep Pat sometimes. It seems that he never signed their divorce papers and they have agreed to give them marriage another chance.”

Okay - here is next part (2 remaining after this, will post on Tuesday and Thursday next week)
Part 9
“That is great news, Elliot. I knew those two belonged together,” says Chloe. “Are you sure that Melanie is okay with keeping Patrick? I don’t want to do anything to cause her pain or anguish since she and Phillip are giving their marriage another shot.”
“Absolutely sweetheart you are so kind to be considerate of her feelings. I know you two hit a rough patch for a while, but hopefully the four of us can become friends since we all love and want what is best for Pat.”
Chloe and Elliot snuggle on the couch while Pat plays with some new toys that Grandpa Victor sent over.
“You know something Elliot?”
“What sweetheart?”
“I can’t believe how kind Victor is being recently. It is like he had a personality transplant.”
Maggie, Julie and Doug are at Chez Rouge getting the restaurant decorated for the surprise reception to be held later that evening.
“Maggie, what time are the guests supposed to be here?” asks Doug.
“Well, I told Chloe that she and Elliot needed to be here by 8:00, so we have everyone else coming by at 7:30. Victor told people that if they couldn’t be here by 7:30 then they needed to wait until 8:15 because we don’t want them running into Chloe and Elliot on their way in.” Maggie claims.
“I still can’t believe you talked Victor into doing this.” Julie remarks. “You are a wonderful influence on him!”
“I didn’t talk him into anything, after all this is Victor we are talking about. But I did mention that it would be a good idea since Chloe is the mother of his grandchild.”
“I still don’t think he would have thought about it on his own,” claims Julie.
“Sweetheart that is why we men have you lovely ladies around, to ‘remind’ us of what we need to do!” quips Doug.
“Doug, I am so glad that you have agreed to sing a special song for Chloe and Elliot this evening. Have you picked out the song yet?” ask Maggie.
“Well I was thinking about ‘Always on My Mind’ because it appears to me that they are on each other’s mind all the time.”
“That would be perfect. I can’t wait until they get here.”

Okay folks - here is the next to the last installment. Final installment to be posted Thursday 5/19. Thanks for the kind words and for taking time to read my attempt. I also love (and miss) the romance from Days gone by and am glad that you have enjoyed my attempt to bring it back.
Part 10
It is 7:15 Friday evening and the guests are starting to show up. Victor, Bo, Hope and Ciara, Doug and Julie all come in together. Then Caroline, Roman, Marlene and John. They are followed by Jack and Jennifer, Abigail and Jack Jr., Melanie, Phillip and baby Patrick, Daniel, Brady, Nicole, EJ, Stefano, along with Abe, Lexie and Theo, Aunt Marion (Chloe’s aunt), Wesley, Nancy and Joy (Chloe’s parents and sister) Sami comes in with Lucas and their children, Will, Johnny, Allie and Sydney. Austin and Carrie Reed flew in to help Chloe and Elliot celebrate and many other Salemites (both still living in Salem and those that have moved on). Soon the place is filled and Victor is getting everyone settled into their seats.
There is soft music playing in the background and a single table is lit (the rest of the restaurant is in the shadows. There is a bud vase with a single red rose sitting in the center of the table.
Chloe and Elliot walk in and exclaim “Oh my goodness, Maggie has outdone herself. “
At that point, Maggie walks out of the shadows and welcome her special guests.
“Maggie, I can’t believe this. Have you shut down the entire restaurant just for us?” asks Chloe.
“Well, Chloe, not exactly”
At that moment the lights come up and the whole restaurants yells “Surprise”
Elliott asks, “What is going on here?”
Victor comes up and stands besides Maggie and says “Chloe, I know that you and I have never gotten along.”
“You could say that” mutters Chloe.
“But with Maggie’s help I am trying to do better. Since you are the mother of my grandson, I wanted to throw this little surprise wedding reception for you and Elliott. I hope that is okay with you?”
About this time Phillip, Melanie and Pat walk up.
“Dad, I am so proud of you for doing this.”
“Victor – I don’t know what to say, but Thank you!! I want you to be a part of Patrick’s life and this means a lot to both of us.” Chloe says. “Just one thing… please tell me Kate is not here!”
“Oh no.” chuckles Victor. “Neither she nor Vivian were invited and the doorman has STRICT instructions not to allow either one in this evening so you are safe from both of those crazy women.”

Wow, imagine Victor being so caring! Also, wouldn't it be grand to see all these people that should attend certain ceremonies, actually be there! Almost like at Alice's memorial.... This is so romantic!!!
