“Well, she still hasn’t forgiven me for Pat, but we are talking with a counselor about things. I still love her very much and am hopeful that we can work things out.”
“Just don’t do anything else to hurt her, or I will have to come after you,” Brady replied. “She is a wonderful person and one of my best friends and I want her to be happy.”
“You and me both Brady. She IS a wonderful person and if I ever do anything that stupid again, I would expect you to come after me. I know that I am a better person with Melanie and really do like the fact that she can take care of herself. Needy women don’t do a thing for me. Of course, you wouldn’t be the only one to come after me if I hurt her again. I do believe Dad would kick me out of the house and have Melanie move in, he likes and respects her that much.”
Back at Maggie’s house, Maggie and Melanie are sitting around the table drinking some hot tea. “Melanie,” begins Maggie, “You know that I have been spending a lot of time with Victor don’t you.”
“Of course, I do Maggie and I think that is great” replies Melanie.
“You do? I though you would be uncomfortable since he is your ex-father-in-law and you and Phillip are having issues.”
“Oh no, Victor has been great to me and Phillip and I are working on our problems with a counselor.”
“That’s wonderful news Melanie; does this mean you two are getting back together?”
“Well, let’s say that we are taking things one day at a time. We have been spending a lot of time together and really getting to know each other, our likes and dislikes, what we want out of life. You know the sort of things most people do BEFORE they get married.”
“Well Melanie, you were never one to do things the conventional way were you??”
“You can say that again Maggie. But I really do love Phillip and would like to be able to have a life with him. But I have to remember that we both made mistakes in the past and we need to work on our trust issues.”

Thanks for another great chapter. I do miss the days when Philip and Melanie were a happily married couple. As much as I am a huge Phloe fan, I really enjoyed them together too!
Can't wait for another installment!

Thanks everyone for the kind words. @sportzgirl, glad you like Parker's (Patrick) new name, but I must admit that is was changed by another fan fic writer on another site.
Here is the next installment...
Phillip shows up at Maggie’s to pick up Melanie for their date.
Maggie opens the door and tells Phillip how glad she is to see him.
“Maggie, it is good to see you to! How are things going with you and Dad?” ask Phillip.
“Well, we are having dinner tonight at Chez Rouge and he is actually taking his time to get to know me.”
“That’s wonderful. All I can say is you are a wonderful influence on him.”
Maggie and Victor are sitting at Chez Rouge having dinner, and Victor broaches the subject about Chloe and Elliot.
“Maggie, I have been doing a lot of thinking about what you said.” Victor begins.
“My that covers a lot of territory, Victor. Which conversation exactly are you referring to,” asks Maggie.
“You know the one about throwing a wedding reception for Chloe and Elliot. I talked to Brady and Phillip about this and they agree with you that it would be a wonderful idea, so I am going to do it.”
“Wonderful,” Maggie says. “When do you want to schedule it and how are you going to tell Chloe about it?”
“Well… I though it could be a surprise. You could offer them a romantic dinner for two, on the house, and we would all be waiting here for them.” Victor suggests.
“What a wonderful idea, Julie and I could decorate and we would close to the public that night. You know this is going to cost you big Victor.”
“Maggie, cost is not the issue here.”
“Oh I know that Victor, I wasn’t talking about the monetary cost.”
Meanwhile, Phillip and Melanie are walking toward the theater.
“Melanie, I have been thinking.”
“Oh no, that sounds serious.”
“Well, it is. It is probably the most serious and important thing ever.”
“Gosh, Phillip. You are starting to scare me. What is it? Is everything okay?”
“Melanie, everything depends on you,” states Phillip
“Me, what have I to do with this?”
“Melanie, you have EVERYTHING to do with this.”

Kpatch - Julie and Doug are two of my favorite characters. Back at Chez Rouge… “Maggie, if you weren’t talking about monetary cost, what kind of cost are you talking about?” “Well, everyone thinks that you are a grouchy old man who can’t stand anyone or anything that isn’t family or business. This is going to cost you that reputation, because it is going to show everyone the Victor Kiriakis that I have come to know and love, is a sweet, loving person who cares about other people and their problems.” About that time, the band strikes up and plays “The Sweetest Thing” by Juice Newton. “Maggie, may I have this dance?” “Of course you may.” Victor and Maggie dance around the floor and he remembers past loves, while she thinks about Mickey. After the dance, they walk out to the balcony and just stand there looking at each other. “Maggie, I know that Mickey Horton was the love or your life, and no one can every replace him, but I am hoping that you can find room in your life for a new love. Maggie Horton, will you marry me?” Maggie stares at Victor and then looks down at the ring he is holding. It is not big and gaudy but very beautiful. “Victor, I don’t know what to say.” “Don’t say anything yet, Maggie,” Victor says. “I just wanted you to know how much I love you and how much my life has changed since you have been in it. With you I don’t have to worry about the woman I am involved with trying to take over the company, or marrying me for my money. I can be the type of man that people look up to.” “Victor, that is about the sweetest thing anyone has every said to me. YES I will marry you!”
