I bet AJ thought Daniel was Melanie's boyfriend and that is what he meant by Oh I get it....She can't hide forever though. She will run into him again.

SALEM UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL, that night
Melanie headed for the hospital pharmacy in a state of panic and began rummaging through the pregnancy test section. Almost all the female patients who were undergoing surgery got a pregnancy test first. She started reading the packages. “Early pregnancy test kit. Really Early Pregnancy Test Kit. Super Duper Extra Early Pregnancy Test Kit. The Minute-After Pregnancy Test Kit. Practically-During Pregnancy Test Kit.” Melanie selected one and rushed for the bathroom.
Ten minutes later, she emerged with the color back in her face and her breathing restored to normal. Negative result. Not pregnant. Thank goodness. Not that she didn’t want a baby, crave a baby, but not now, not like this. Now her life could resume sucking in the way in which she had grown used to, instead of in a far more complicated way.
She sat in the lounge with a cup of coffee in hand and basked in the familiar surroundings. A man entered, snapping her out of her daydream. It was him.
“Are you stalking me?” she asked incredulously.
“Not stalking. Just regular following. I came to apologize.”
“What for?” Melanie wondered.
“I didn’t understand. But now I do. So, I’ll leave you alone. I won’t call anymore and, if our paths cross, I’ll pretend I don’t know you.” A.J. turned to leave, but Melanie stopped him.
“Wait wait. Wait a minute. What do you mean ‘now you understand.’ Understand what?”
“You’re married. What happened last night was just an anomoly. You probably love your husband, but you needed a break or something. He’s an older guy and …”
Melanie started giggling and the giggling turned into all-out laughter and she could hardly catch her breath. “What are you talking about? Are you a soap opera writer or something? What kind of story are you making up about me?”
“The guy in the bar who pulled my hand off your arm. The one who looked like he was going to tear me apart with his teeth and leave my carcass for the vultures to pick at. He’s your husband. I guess I thought you were joking at the bus stop when you asked how I knew you weren’t married. My mistake.”
“I’m not married.”
“Then who was the neanderthal in the bar?”

Yep, he sure did think Daniel was married to her.. LOL, but shame on Mel for not using protection. It's just not pregnancy to worry about, As a nurse she should realize to protect against STD's. She had no idea who AJ was when she had sex with him. She just got lucky this time.

Bwahahaha!!! Loved that chapter!! I can picture Melanie doubled over in laughter. I know it's been 5 year since my last child and about 6 since I took the last pregnancy test, but do they really have over the counter ones that will tell you the next day if you are pregnant or not?

Mae - as far as I know, no. The body doesn't secreet the hormone that would indicate pregnancy until 5ish days after conception, which would be 5ish days after ovulation. (If any nurse is reading, please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong) But I'm willing to suspend reality for the sake of the story.  |

I didn't think so either but wanted to ask. If I can suspend reality for what we are seeing on the screen, I can definitely suspend it from jkjpatch's story. Even tho I know tomorrow is the last chapter, I still have to wonder if this will leave the door open for another Melanie story where she learns that she really is pregnant and where that takes her & A.J.

The earliest test I know is 6 days before your period.
Love papa bear Daniel. MelDan is one of my favorite "Pairings" on the show...great father/daughter duo
Not sure how I feel about AJ yet...but I love that Melanie is finally getting some action from a real man again...Nathan. Dario, Chad were not cutting it.
Love reading stories about my girl Mel...she has so much personality! Thanks for writing this.
