I was thinking the same thing She is not going to get rid of him without AJ getting it his all. Can't wait to see all the stops AJ pulls. Just loving this story.

CHEATIN’ HEART
Melanie sat at a table and enjoyed a beer while waiting for her dad. She looked over at the pool table and remembered playing pool with Philip, and with Nathan, with Dario, and with Brady. She walked over to the pool table and set up the billiards. She chalked up her pool cue and took a shot. Her back was to the bar, but she rolled her eyes when she heard the familiar, yet affectedly irksome voice behind her.
Chloe: Adrienne! Is Justin here? I have some amazing news.
Adrienne: Hi Chloe. You look like the cat that swallowed the canary.
Chloe: Funny you should mention “canary.” I got a singing job.
Melanie mumbled to herself out of earshot. “Well, stop the presses.”
Adrienne: That’s awesome. Tell me about it.
Melanie put down her pool cue and went back to her table so she didn’t have to listen to the sickeningly sweet conversation going on at the bar. Now is a good time for those headphones, she thought, so she reached into her purse, took out her iPod, smoothed out the cords and contentedly placed the earbuds in her ears. She closed her eyes so she wouldn’t have to look at the songbird either. Her head bobbed to the private concert playing in her head as she decided that her dad wouldn’t disapprove of her using earphones here. It wasn’t a bus stop in a bad neighborhood, after all.
Suddenly Melanie’s eyes flew open at the thought of her dad walking into the Cheatin Heart when Chloe was here. She hurried to pull her cell phone out of her purse but it was too late. Her ruggedly handsome father was coming through the door. He spotted Melanie immediately and then looked in the direction of the bar. His eyes locked with his ex’s and Melanie just shook her head in disgust. It was obvious that he was still attracted to Chloe, even after everything she had done to him. Then again, Melanie knew the feeling.
“Hey kitten. Sorry I kept you waiting.” Daniel took a seat across from Melanie, but his back was facing the bar, while Melanie had a clear view.
“Dad, I’m sorry. I didn’t know she was going to be here or I would have called you sooner.”
“It’s okay, kitten. Salem’s a small city. We’re bound to run into each other now and then. So … you were going to tell me about some people you met while I was away.”
As if on cue, Melanie’s attention was diverted by a man who just walked into the bar. He sauntered in, looking like he owned the place. Then he walked behind the bar and gave Adrienne a kiss. “Hi Mom.”
“Alexander Justin Kiriakis! Where have you been? I thought you were going to meet us for dinner last night.”
“Sorry, I got … surprised.”
“Well you should have called.”
“You’re absolutely right. I’m scum. You mad at me?”
Adrienne sighed. “I can never stay angry at my boys for long. ... Oh, where are my manners? Have you met Chloe Lane?”
“I haven’t had the pleasure.”
Adrienne couldn’t help but brag a little. “Alexander just moved back to Salem. He graduated law school with honors and he’s going to go into practice with his dad.”
Chloe held out her hand flirtatiously and Melanie practically groaned out loud as Daniel turned around to see what had caught Melanie’s attention, because she certainly wasn’t paying her old man any mind.
“Nice to meet you, Alexander,” Chloe practically cooed at the sight of a handsome Kiriakis.
“My friends call me A.J. and I certainly hope you and I can be friends.”
“Jeez,” Melanie said as she looked away from the cloying spectacle at the bar. “Dad! Hey. Look at me.”
“You’re in a mood,” Daniel said as he turned back to face his daughter. “What’s bothering you?”
“Oh, everything. Life sucks.”

Quick question - How does this Chloe fit in with other stories? What's her status?
Quick statement - I am loving this story! And Melanie isn't even one of my faves! Ha!!! ;D

@dd, thanks for asking. This Chloe is unrelated to the Chloe in some of my other stories. I wrote this story last summer, and it follows canon up to that time. Philip took Parker to Chicago, and Chloe was trying to earn money to get her life back on track.
I'm tickled that you love this story, especially considering you generally have little interest in Melanie. Thank you!

Can't wait till AJ sees Mel. This is one great story. I just love that even though she is not sure that she wants to be with AJ she sure has the green eyed monster when it comes to him with Chloe. Thanks for explaining that this is not the same Chloe that is married to Philip and about to have baby number two, but the one trying to find a way to get Parker back. Thanks for the story Kpatch.

CHEATIN HEART
“I can see you’re upset,” Daniel said, growing increasingly concerned about Melanie. “You know you can tell me anything.”
Not this, Melanie decided. The man who didn’t want her driving showy cars, using earphones at a bus stop or forgiving her husband for cheating, would not be cool with his baby girl allowing herself to be picked up by a stranger and taken to a hotel for one night of mind-blowing sex. Then again, a one-night stand is exactly how his own baby girl came to be. And it’s how Parker came to be. And ... Oh crap! I’m unprotected. I haven’t taken the pill in over a year and ….
“Now you’re freaking me out. Melanie, talk to me.”
“Dad, can we take a raincheck? I have to go.”
Go? Before Daniel could ask where she’s going (since she lives at his place), Melanie was up and heading for the door. She ran straight into the masculine chest of the man she was trying to avoid.
“Melanie!”
She looked up coyly at A.J. and momentarily got lost in the eyes and the dimples. The dimples. A Kiriakis. Damn.
“I have to go.”
“Wait,” A.J. caught Melanie by the arm as she tried to move away from him. “I’ve been trying to reach you. Where did you go this morning? Why did you take off like that?”
Daniel pulled A.J.’s grip from Melanie’s arm. “What the hell is going on here?”
“Um, it’s okay. It’s nothing,” Melanie tried to diffuse the situation but really all she wanted to do was run like hell out of there.
A.J. absorbed Daniel’s angry stare. “Oh. I get it. Sorry,” A.J. said, backing off. He let go of Melanie and she ran out, leaving Daniel, Adrienne, and Chloe completely confused.

Love it Love it. The meeeting was even better then I dreamed it would be. Poor AJ. I can just picture the look on everyone's face. Ohhh I wonder if Mel will now have a baby.
