Chapter 56

1 Year Later...

WILL & SONNY'S HOUSE
GRACE: So is that it?
WILL: What do you mean?
GRACE: is that the end of the story?
WILL: Not quite. Almost, but not quite.
GRACE: Good, because that is a horrible place for an ending!
WILL: Well, I never said the ending would be a good one. However, it does get slightly better than that.

Chapter 57

SALEM HIGH
It was now nearing the halfway point of the school year. Though it had seemed that all these things had happened in a day, they had really happened over a couple of months. This semester had gone by rather quickly. They had started on September 1st. Now they were into the first week in December. It wouldn't be long until the Autumn had passed and Winter rolled in. Whereas at the beginning of the school year, everybody had been wearing t-shirts and shorts, now the students were getting out there heavier clothes. Jeans and sweatshirts were becoming a common sight around the halls of Salem High School. In the lunchroom one day, Ceri, Allie, Rhiannon, J.J., and Joey were all seated together.
CERI: Where's Sydney? I haven't seen her in any of my classes today.
ALLIE: She's not feeling well. All the stuff that went down this weekend.
CERI: Gotcha. I can go see her after school, right?
ALLIE: Yeah. She'd like that.

ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL'S OFFICE
Assistant Principal Max Brady was in the middle of giving his announcements. Why they had chosen to give the announcements at mid-day, Max did not know. He would have thought it would make more sense to give them in the morning. However, as it was his job, he gave them at mid-day.
MAX: ...Turnabout will be held in the gym this Friday. Also, start prepearing for Finals, as they will be coming up before you know it. We only have this week and half of next week before final exams. If you having started prepping for them, I suggest you do so. This is your Assistant Principal Brady signing off. Have a good afternoon.
Max put the small microphone that he had been holding back on his desk. There was a knock at the door.
MAX: Come in.
The door opened and Morgan walked in.
MAX: Morgan. What can I do for you?
MORGAN: Hey sugar. Just thought I'd pop in and say hi.
MAX: Okay. So, what's going on?
MORGAN: Not much. Gettin' ready for my next subbing job. Any chance next year I can get a promotion to full-time next year?
MAX: We'll see at your end-of-year review.
Max looked at his watch.
MAX: I don't wish to be rude, but you'll have to excuse me. I have a meeting to go to. Is there anything else you wanted?
MORGAN: Sugar, the only thing I want is you.
Morgan walked up to him and gave him a passionate kiss.

Hmmm. Wonder what Morgan is up to.

Not sure, but you know it's gotta be something!

Chapter 58

KIRIAKIS MANSION
A small group of people had gathered at the Kiriakis Mansion. They were all sitting in the living room. Brady and Parker stood by a TV, which was in the center of the room. Parker had a remote in his hand. Bo, Hope, Shawn-D, Belle, Stephanie, Claire, Chloe, Lucas, and Vivian were all there.
BRADY: Thank you all for coming tonight on such short notice.
PARKER: Uncle Brady and I were looking through some of my Dad's things, and we found a bunch of old videos.
BRADY: And, we decided to use some of these videos and put them together into a tribute to Philip. We've given all of you Kleenex boxes, just in case. We hope that this video brings back a lot of great memories for you. Making it certainly did for us. Enjoy.

By the time the video ended, everybody had tears in their eyes. Belle was hit the hardest by the video, possibly because she had been in the hospital and unable to come to the funeral. She walked up to Brady, who put his arms around her. After that, there was a round of hugs for everybody. Of all the people that had died in the last few months, they missed Philip the most.

Chapter 59

SALEM HIGH
Max pulled back from the kiss.
MAX: Morgan, what are you doing?
MORGAN: What d'you think I'm doin', sugar? I'm tryin' to get some of what I want. And what I want is you, Maxie.
MAX: We talked about this already. I'm taken. I'm with Chelsea. She and I are more than happy together. We've never been happier.
MORGAN: But come on, Max, don't you ever think about what might have been?
Max picked up a guitar next to his desk and started strumming. Click to listen to the song he sings:
MAX: Of course I do. But, that was nearly 20 years ago that we broke up. I'm sorry, Morgan, but we have to move on.
Morgan nodded.
MORGAN: I understand.
Morgan turned and left.
MORGAN (VO, thinking): If I can't have him, no one else can either.

Uh oh! Morgan's not so nice after all!

I wonder what Morgan is planning.

Chapter 60

SAMI & LUCAS' APARTMENT
Sami and Lucas were getting ready for bed one night.
SAMI: I just wish there was something we could do.
LUCAS: I know.
SAMI: I've tried talking to her, and she's told me a little bit, but I still can't get her to open up to me.
LUCAS: You have to give her some time, Sami. You've been gone for nearly five years. Besides, Sydney's usually fairly quiet. The only two people she's been able to open up to are your mom and Ceri.
SAMI: What does Carrie have to do with any of this?
LUCAS: No, not Carrie. Ceri. The Welsh girl she's been dating for almost a month now.
SAMI: Okay. And why my mom? Why was she so open with her?
LUCAS: It's not really that hard to figure out. Marlena was Sydney's grandmother. Plus, she was a psychiatrist. Sydney felt safe with her. Marlena was the only one who could talk her through all of her problems.
SAMI: Are you suggesting that we take Sydney to a psychiatrist?
LUCAS: It's not a bad idea.
SAMI: But I don't want Sydney to have to talk to someone she doesn't know!
LUCAS: It doesn't have to be like that. When Marlena found out that Sydney had DID, she called Dr. Susan Adamson for a consult.
SAMI: Why does that name sound familiar?
LUCAS: Susan was one of Belle and Shawn's friends back in high school. Anyway, Sydney and Susan met each other and got along well. She told me to call her if I ever need anything. Your mom knew that she wasn't going to live forever, so she told me, if anything happened to her, to call Susan.
SAMI: Well, I guess we're calling Dr. Adamson again.

[MrsM]

Hmmm. Morgan isn't very nice.

Glad they are getting help for Sydney.

I hope she can help Sydney.
