If the right changes are made at Days, JKJ may be willing to return but yes I agree that some choices under Tomlin is what led to JKJ's decision to leave. I think Tomlin was a very poor choice for co-HW but the other writer choices are good (and who knows how long Tomlin will last anyway) and it seems likely that Meng will heavily influence (if not outright direct) creative choices, so perhaps the right exits and other choices will open a door for JKJ's return. Nadia is a sweetheart and I wish her all the best but I am not as sure about Chloe's return being good for Days. I don't think she would be a bad choice but there may be better ones or a better timing. Trying to build a soap opera around the youngsters or any other one age group will never work. That's not a soap, it's a really cliched sit com. If Daniel, EJ, Austin, Carrie, Billie, Nicole, Rafe, Lexi, possibly Stefano, Madison, possibly Ian....that only really leaves the older characters like Bo, Hope, John, Marlena, Kate, Victor, Maggie, Sami, Lucas, Gabby, Will, Chad, Melanie, and Abby....so tell me who is going to tune in to see that group of people? Days has nothing going on and even if Jay were desperate for work, I don't ever see him coming back to Days. I think he is way passed Days and I don't want to see him come back only to have him in the back burner like he has been the entire time he has been on the show. He has never once had a front burner storyline like he has been promised in the past. If they bring the character Phillip back, Jay won't be playing him. At this point, there is really nothing the producers can do to make Days as exciting and fun to watch as it has been way back in the past like mid 80's and early 90's.

Lets face it.....people watch Days whether it's for a particular character or storyline and if Days has neither a character or storyline that someone or alot of someones are interested in, then Days needs to be canceled because it's going no where fast. Right now, there's nothing going on with Days that can keep me interested and wanting more. I really think that they need to start all over with Days or just cancel it all together. The back and forth thing is getting really old. I say get rid of all the older characters and let Days be based around Melanie, Chad, Abby, Gabby, and Will. I mean they are the next generation because there's not a snowball's chance that Nadia and Jay will ever come back to Days and reprise their roles and who could really blame them for not wanting to come back to Days. I wouldn't come back for less pay then what I left making........ Not all Days fans (or in general, soap fans) can be lumped into this "one character" or "one storyline" watching-mode. I have faithfully watched Days since the early 90s (only one break because real-life matters took precedence over a TV show). I watch because I love the genre, the show and all that encompasses that. The fans that watch for one character or one storyline are not the fans that the writers and execs need to base their decisions on. They need the fans that are there through thick and thin, that hang on the edge of their seat at the climatic points of ANY storyline. (I wasn't a fan of the Daniel/Chloe/Philip stuff, but the payoff of that storyline at the Christening just sucked me in and was immensely enjoyable). Just as there have been a few bad seasons of Desperate Housewives, I didn't stop watching. Just because a favorite character of mine was recently killed off (Mike), I'm not going to miss the last few episodes of the series. If all the promises about returning to "family values" and things that Days was based on are to be held up (and there was a lot of positive feedback about that possibility), then you can't get rid of "all the older characters". There has to be a balance because not all soap fans are teeny-boppers and young adults. Yes, create storylines and characters those viewers can relate to, but also look at ALL the viewership. Just as Days began with Tom and Alice already older, and their kids and their grandkids, Days still needs to be multi-generational. Before the reset in September, the BEST romantic storyline going was Maggie and Victor. Hands down the best.

I would tune in. I do every day, no matter who is on-screen that day. And are Gabi, Will, Chad, Melanie and Abby really "older" characters? I don't consider Lucas, Sami to be "older" either. They are the mid-group.

I don't want to see the older characters gone but I would love to see an infusion of 30 somethings into the show. I grew up watching Bo and Hope and John and Marlena and even though I may complain about them I would miss them if they were gone. I watch the show bad good or indifferent. Who is onscreen isn't going to stop me from watching but I would really just like to see a strong cohesive show that tells a good story.
