Just saw this tweet from Sarah Brown. Is she saying she found out she was fired via twitter?!?!? Or is she talking about someone else? Either way, that's pretty s****y (or poopy) no matter who it was.

Wow! No kidding! I wouldn't blame it on the writer of the story but whoever game them the details. What a classless thing to do.

I agree and I think she will be. Lets hope, don't forget it was under Gary Tomlin as Ex. Producer that the whole Dannifer romance started, maybe now that he is head writer he wants to revisit that and that is why Jack is gone. Personally I have no interest in Dannifer Part II. Dannifer and the destruction of Jack & Jennifer is one of the main reasons I expect Days is making these changes. They've already admitted that Dannifer was a fail and it was the one rewrite that was announced ... that and the resting of Dan and then SC's report that Days recognized the problems with his character and the need to address them.

I think we may be heading back to the Days we came from in 2011 pre-reboot. Considering that Meng is talking about the need for improved ratings, I doubt that is the plan. As far from ideal as the ratings are now, they are improved from where they were under the last two years of Tomlin.

The old writers had no issues writing for Daniel. But we shall see. I didn't like Daniel and Jennifer, nor did I like Jack and Jen back. Both were failures to me. But I know there were fans for Dannifer....and many were disappointed with the resolution.

There are fans for pretty much anything but that doesn't mean it resonates well enough with enough of the audience to bring in the necessary ratings.

As far from ideal as the ratings are now, they are improved from where they were under the last two years of Tomlin. I am talking character wise and the way stories were told. Days had more going for it two years ago than now. I think they will be trying to find a blend.

We all have different individual preferences but some things are simply more succesful than others. I've never been a fan of Jarlena but they are successful. I'm not a big fan of JER's work but overall he did bring in great ratings. The JER wannabes like Tomlin however, did not. I wouldn't let Tomlin any where near the studio after the craptastic ratings he brought in ... and that is the one thing that is very clear from Meng's interview - they are focused on the ratings (as well they should be) and reading between the lines, I take that to mean that Meng will be retaining creative control, which is encouraging.

Honestly, I liked Dan and Jenn together. I really did. They were rootable and a fresh start, so *if* done well, I could go for them again.
Jack/Jenn had their day, but this was so botched up that they aren't rootable any more and I couldn't care less if they got together. They don't do it for me, and the magic is gone.
I can see Jenn sticking around as counsel for Abby and confidant for Hope.
Jack was wasted in his return. He had a lot of potential and they wasted it.
I'm mildly surprised about Carrie since they built up a Rafe/Carrie scenario. But, if Carrie and Austin are gone, I'm okay.
And, it really is shizzy to learn your job is gone from a news post or twitter feed. I feel bad for the actress (though not her character). She started off with potential until they ruined Brady's history to build them up as a couple.

UPDATE: Sarah Brown tweeted that it wasn't her that learned she was fired on twitter. She doesn't say who it was, but she does say Days wouldn't do that. Here's the tweet:

Huge Exits At DAYS!
By SOD • Posted: Apr 10, 2012
Soap Opera Digest has learned that the cast cuts have begun at DAYS: Matthew Ashford (Jack), Sarah Brown (Madison), Christie Clark (Carrie) and Patrick Muldoon (Austin) have all reportedly been told their characters are leaving Salem, the show confirms. Ashford, Clark and Muldoon returned as part of the big reboot in September, 2011; Brown appeared in October. Insiders report that this will not be the end of the trimming.
Excuse the language, but I am so pissed off by Matt's exit I can't see straight....!

They've hardly written anything for Matt since he returned so I'm not surprised by his exit. There were wasted opportunities. I'll be surprised if Missy isn't written out too. I can see them moving to London or wherever JJ is attending school.
Madison was pushed into too much story too quickly. It was another insta-romance and those always seem to fail.

I'm less surprised by Matt's exit than I am pissed off by it.I agree they've hardly written for him.I really had hoped the PTSD storyline would take off and they'd do something with it,but the writers seem to have whimped out.Oh well,I guess they're only capable of one serious storyline at a time.Regardless,I'll be writing both Matt and the show. And no,I wouldn't be surprised if Missy leaves also. That's usually the way it's gone in the past.Matt and Missy have stuck together to the point that if one leaves, the other follows closely behind.
