Such a sweet scene between Victor and Philip. I don't believe that it was involuntary movement either. I hope this gives Victor the push he needs to fight through this.

This was very a emotional chapter. I could just picture Victor laying in that hospital bed. Phillip really does love his dad no matter how upset Victor sometimes makes him. Knowing how he feels about Chloe, I am glad to hear that Victor was Phillip’s best man.

Chapter 6
Chloe was too anxious to go straight home, so when they landed in Chicago, she picked up the car from long-term parking and headed to the office.
As soon as she walked through the glass doors on the 15th floor, she was pelted with questions, one after the other.
Welcome back, Chloe. Hey, where’s Philip? Hi, Parker, did you have a good time on your honeymoon? Hey, I heard about Mr. Kiriakis, how’s he doing? Did you see Victor? How long is he going to be in the hospital? How’s Philip handling his father’s illness?
The plethora of questions was overwhelming. Chloe picked up the pace, holding Parker’s hand and walking as fast as she could toward the daycare center. She breathed a sigh of relief when she stepped inside.
“Chloe!” Lucinda, Parker’s former nanny and the director of the daycare center, greeted Chloe with a hug. “And how is my sweet Parker?”
Parker gave Lucinda a hug and said, “We came home early on account of my grampa is sick.”
Lucinda stood up straighter and reached for Chloe’s arm. “We heard about Mr. Kiriakis. How’s he doing?”
“By all accounts, not too good,” Chloe said. “Philip went straight to Salem to see him but we thought it would be best if we joined him later.”
“I understand. Is there anything I can do?”
“Just look after Parker today, okay? I’m going to see about catching up on emails. I’ve got my cell. Call me if you need me.”
Chloe gave Parker a kiss before heading toward her office. As soon as she opened her office door, another colleague popped their head in, wanting to hear all about the wedding and the trip and Victor. Chloe was gracious but her head was spinning. She decided to take her laptop upstairs to the executive level. She walked up the spiral staircase with her laptop in one hand and holding her phone to her ear with the other. She wasn’t really on a call. She just didn’t want to answer any more questions.
“Hi Tracy,” she said, greeting Philip’s administrative assistant.
“Chloe, good to see you. I thought you were in Salem.”
“Philip went on ahead. Listen, can you unlock Philip’s office for me? I need some peace and quiet.”
“Of course.” Tracy rose from her chair and unlocked the door to Philip’s office. “It’s all yours.”
Chloe went to sit in Philip’s chair. The emotions rose inside her and almost overflowed. As she choked back her tears, she felt this overwhelming need to speak to her therapist, so she texted her. Hi Mary. I’m back in Chicago. I could use a session. Please let me know your availability.

It must be hard for Chloe to be pelted with questions the second she comes back to town. Glad she’s asking Mary for a session.

Good grief! Those people sounded like the paparazzi. At least she's realizing that she needs a session. I can't wait to see Mary!

I feel for Chloe. I understand that everyone is concerned about Victor, but good grief give the girl a break. Glad she called Mary. She needs somebody to talk with.

I’m glad she called Mary It is annoying all the questions I’m sure some people were genuine but many were probably just looking for the gossip

Philip at Victor's bedside was such an emotional scene. Victor could definitely hear Philip.
Poor Chloe. She may be better off working from home where she won't be questioned nonstop.

Chapter 7
Philip pulled open the heavy glass doors that led to the lobby of Titan World Headquarters. The last time he was here was a year ago for Titan’s annual meeting of shareholders. But he hadn’t spent any real time here in years. Stepping into the elevator, he pressed the button for the 12th floor, also known as the C-Suite: Chief Executive Officer’s office, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Legal Counsel, Chief Information Officer, Chief Human Resources Officer, Chief Operating Officer, Chief Risk Manager, and so on. Most everyone on this floor had a big title. Once upon a time when Philip was a Vice President here, he too had an office on the 12th floor.
He stopped in front of the Chief Legal Counsel’s office and Justin’s secretary waved Philip in.
Justin rose from his chair and approached Philip. He was about to shake hands, but instead, he pulled Philip into a much-appreciated hug. When Philip stepped back, he saw that Justin’s eyes were glassy. “How did Uncle Victor look when you saw him?”
Philip drew a deep breath. “Not too good. Have you seen him yet?”
“Last night. I’m heading over again after work today.” Justin gestured to a chair across from his desk and Philip took a seat. “Let’s get this over with.” Justin sat down on the corner of his desk. “You know how your father drew up a new contract stipulating you can’t be fired?”
“Don’t tell me. You found a loophole.”
“On the contrary.” Justin poked the document he was holding. “See, at the same time, he had me draw up a new living will. It states that in the event of his death or incapacity, Titan Corporation will be yours. All of it. And …Victor is incapacitated right now. That means this clause is in effect. You’re the new Chairman and CEO of Titan. Effective immediately.” Philip stared straight ahead, eyes wide. “Philip?”
Philip cleared his throat. “I’m absorbing. Um.” He looked at Justin. “Doesn’t the Board of Directors need to—”
“They approved this by unanimous resolution,” Justin explained. “I have the codicil right here. Still processing?”
Woulda been nice if someone told me about this codicil before now, Philip thought. “I’m going to be processing this for a while.” He pointed toward the door. “Does anyone else know about this?”
“Just the Board. And of course, Victor, me, and now you.”
“But, this could just be temporary, until Dad gets well, right?” Justin nodded. Philip’s brow knit. “Wait. I thought a living will was only for health issues.”
“It can be anything the testator wants it to be.”
“And what about the health portion? Did he have a health care directive?”
Justin nodded slowly and appeared to be struggling for words. He looked down at a spot on his desk. “Thirty days.”
“What about 30 days?”
Justin picked up another document from his desk and read, “If after 30 days with no improvement or hope of improvement, a Do Not Resuscitate order becomes effective, during which the patient shall not be revived or resuscitated and will be disconnected from any and all artificial means of life support.”
Philip squeezed his eyes shut. When he opened them, nothing had changed. He was still in Justin’s office, watching Justin holding Victor’s living will. He started to get up but fell back into his chair. “I need—.” He blew out some air.
Justin reached out as if to catch Philip. “A glass of water?”
“Yeah, but um.” He rubbed his forehead. “I need a private room to make some calls.”
“You can use one of the conference rooms. Or Victor’s office.”
Philip rose from his chair. “I’ll be— Um. Thanks Justin.” He turned to leave, but stopped in his tracks. “Does Maggie know? About any of this?”
“I have no idea what Uncle Victor shares with Maggie. But I agree. If she doesn’t know about it, she needs to.”
Philip licked his dry lips. “There’s a meeting with the doctors tomorrow. Let’s hear what they have to say before we mention the directive to her.”
“Agreed…Philip.” Justin reached out and gripped Philip’s arm. “I’ve witnessed Victor come back from near-death time and again. He may surprise us all.”
“That’s what Chloe said,” Philip mumbled.
“Where is she, anyway?”
“Chicago. I thought it would be better if I came first to assess the situation.” He looked at Justin. “I didn’t mean that to sound so business-like.”
“I know what you meant,” Justin said. “Philip, listen. I want you to know I’m here for you, same way I’ve been here for Uncle Victor all these years.”
Philip nodded slowly. “Thank you.”

This is quite a bit for Philip to process. It makes sense that he was the one to inherit control of Titan.

A lot to process indeed!
Poor Philip just got hit with another double whammy. I hope he calls for Chloe/Parker to come to him so that he can get as much support as possible. I'm glad Justin is on his side.
