I'm wondering if it's not already too late. Philip has had his heart broken by Chloe so many times, will he be able to trust that it won't happen again? Will he be willing to take that chance with his heart and Parker's?

FINALLY! She realizes what she's doing to Parker.

But she is going to have to be careful and she's going to have to learn how to cope with facing Parker's questions about her leaving like she did. Parker won't let things go easily.

and she better be ready to deal with it being too late with Philip - or whatever has transpired with Philip since she left. Although I hope nothing happens with Nicole, Chloe can't hold anything that has or may happen over Philip's head.

Chapter 500c

“Dear God. Do you think it’s too late?” Chloe asked Mary.

“Too late for what, dear?”

“To make things right for him?”

“And how would you do that?” Mary wanted to know.

“Maybe…you know…go back? I know I just said that he’s better off without me, but now I’m thinking about how lonely he must feel growing up without a mother. That happened to me too and it didn’t have to. I had a mother out there who should have been the one to raise me, but she made the decision not to. She thought she had good reasons, just like I think I do. But I would have given anything to have the security that only a mother can give you, instead of being shuttled from place to place, living with strangers who barely seemed to care about me.” Chloe covered her face with her hands and blurted, “Oh god. I’m perpetuating a vicious cycle. I’m doing the same thing to my son that my mother did to me.” Mary fished in her purse and handed Chloe a small pack of Kleenex while Chloe pulled herself together. “I wouldn’t blame him if he hated me forever. Do you think it’s too late?”

“For what dear?”

“To go back to him? To Parker? Should I do it? Should I go back to him?”

“I can’t tell you what to do. You know that. It has to be your decision. But the fact that you’re asking the question must mean you’re thinking about it,” Mary observed. “And I will say this. With rare exceptions, children do better growing up with their parents than without them.”

“All this time I was sure that Parker was better off without me, but now I think I’ve done more damage by abandoning him than I could ever do by staying.” She dabbed her eyes with a tissue. “Thank you Mary. Thank you for letting me talk all this out and for helping me see reality.”

“Of course.” She rubbed Chloe’s arm. “I’m thrilled that you came to the conclusion that you have. But Chloe, I have to ask. You’ve been talking about going home to Parker. What about Philip?”

Chapter 501a

Jennifer returned home from work, and started walking toward the kitchen to pour herself a cold drink when she heard odd noises coming from upstairs, so she went to check it out. When she reached the top of the stairs, it was clear the noise was coming from JJ’s room. Standing in his open doorway, she watched her son opening and closing drawers and tossing some items on the floor and others into a suitcase.

“What’s going on here? You taking a trip you forgot to tell me about?”

JJ looked up. “Mom.” He looked at the suitcase. “Yeah, I guess I am. I need to tell you something.” He took her hand and they both sat on the bed. “I’m moving in with Gabi.”

She quickly pulled her hand away. “What?? Please tell me you’re not serious.”

“Mom.” He spoke slowly and calmly. “You already know we’ve been dating a while and yes, it’s been getting serious. I didn’t think this would be such a surprise to you.”

“Well, I didn’t think it was going to last.”

“Mom!”

“Don’t ‘Mom’ me. You two were on-again and off-again constantly.”

“That’s an exaggeration. We broke up and made up, yeah, but we figured things out. We’re solid now.”

“Are you sure, because last I heard, her career was much more important to her than you were?”

“Don’t bother sugar-coating it,” he retorted sarcastically.

“Sometimes the truth hurts,” Jennifer stated.

“Come on, Mom. How many of your relationships went in a straight line?” When Jennifer didn’t answer, JJ said, “I get you don’t like Gabi, but I do. I love her.”

“Then why move in with her?”

“Huh?”

“If you love her so much, why not get married instead of just shacking up?”

Why does it feel like Jennifer is trying to sabotage the relationship by getting him to propose too soon?
I’m beginning to understand why JJ is such a man child though, Jennifer coddles him too much
