Ugh, I want Nicole and Philip to stay friends. It was all going well until Nicole came up with a crazy idea.

I hope Nicole’s joking about that last suggestion.

Why am I not surprised with Nicole's suggestion? Of course, if Chloe heard about this I think it would knock some much needed sense into her head and she would admit to herself and everyone else that she still loves Philip and they belong together. Also, I would love to see a cat fight between the two besties.

Playing out in my head: I think Nicole had a little too much, and she's desperate for a reason to say no to Rafe (that's not "but I don't love you"). I don't think she's serious and I hope Philip goes along with it so that Nicole realizes what a horrible idea that would be.

Oh I sure hope Nicole was just joking. Sadly, I don't think she was tho. She commented about it too many times to be joking.
I'm glad to see that Gabi and JJ had an honest and mature conversation about their relationship. I'm really glad that Gabi told JJ about the meeting and that JJ was honest about his feelings and what he thought when he saw the message.

Hi friends. Thanks so much for reading and commenting and staying engaged. Much more ahead. Here's a sneak peek at the coming week. -Philip and Nicole have a serious discussion about her proposition, one that will last most of the week. -On Friday, we’ll catch up with Chloe during a somewhat unorthodox session with Mary. Is she on her way to a breakthrough at last?

An unorthodox session sounds interesting.
Hopefully Philip will turn down Nicole’s offer. I like them both, just not necessarily together.
Thanks for the previews!

I'm curious about what Chloe's session looks like.
I hope Philip convinces Nicole this is a bad idea.

Chapter 499c
Nicole tapped Philip’s arm with the back of her hand. “We should get married, you and me,” she said to him. “My daughter would have a father and your son would have a mother. We’d be a family unit. And it won’t be as messy as marrying Rafe because we don’t love each other.”
Philip leaned away and eyed Nicole as if she were crazy—or drunk. “How is that unmessy?”
“Well,” Nicole attempted to explain, “Rafe is in love with me and I don’t feel the same and he’s always going to have some kind of expectations that he can make me fall in love with him.”
“How do you know he can’t?” Philip asked.
“Trust me, it ain’t gonna happen,” she replied, a little harshly.
Philip stared into his glass. “I have to be honest with you, Nicole. If you told me six months ago, that I’d have any part in raising Daniel’s child, I’d have said there’s no way. I’m going to be raising my own children with Chloe. I was supposed to be raising my daughter and my son. With Chloe.”
“And now?”
“Nothing’s the way it’s supposed to be.” He looked at Nicole and added, “Hey, I’m not naive. I was once, but that was a long time ago. You and me? Now that would be complicated.”
“No it wouldn’t,” Nicole insisted.
“Trust me, it ain’t gonna happen,” Philip said, using the same tone Nicole had used a moment before.
“Ouch.”
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to be insensitive.” He set his highball glass on a coaster on the coffee table. “What’s wrong with leaving things the way they are?” he asked. “I’ll help you with Holly any time, any way you need it. We don’t have to be married for that.” “I just think it would be easier for Holly, growing up with two parents. Parker too.”
Philip stretched his arm across the top of the sofa. “Holly’s got lots of father figures, not just me. She has Justin, JJ, Rafe. She’s also got Maggie, Melanie and Sarah, all under this roof. She’s got a family already.”
“It’s not the same and you know it!” Nicole insisted.

I’m glad Philip is being firm about this. He and Nicole getting together would be complicated, no matter what she thinks.

I’m Glad Philip turned her down but Nicole needs to learn that no means no He was as blunt as it gets and he made valid points

Chapter 499d
“Holly’s got lots of father figures, not just me,” Philip reasoned. “She has Justin, JJ, Rafe. She’s also got Maggie, Melanie and Sarah, all under this roof. She’s got a family already.”
“It’s not the same and you know it!” Nicole insisted. “Come on, Philip. We’d be good together. I’ve known you most of your life and I’ve seen you become a great husband and father.”
“Not sure what book you’ve been reading,” he scoffed. “Remember me? I’m the guy whose wife was so afraid to confide in me that she was helping her alcoholic ex-husband keep his addiction a secret. I’m also the man who abandoned his son when he needed me most. I nearly jumped off a Chicago skyscraper when life got too much for me. And those are just the highlights. Still interested?”
Nicole grew teary-eyed when she said, “My own father didn’t know the meaning of the word ‘father.’ But you do. I love the way you are with Parker, the way you talk to him without ever talking down to him, the way you are honest even about the tough subjects but you explain it in a way he can understand. That’s how I know you’d be an amazing father to Holly.”
“That may be the nicest compliment I’ve ever received.” He took his arm off the sofa and leaned his elbows on his thighs. “Okay, let’s assume I say yes to your proposal. Suppose you meet the man of your dreams after you marry me. Wouldn’t it be easier if we weren’t married?”
“Me? I’m never going to fall in love with anyone after Daniel. You’re far more likely to fall in love than me.”
He thought about how Chloe was always the endgame for him. There was never anyone else, not really. “When we fall in love, we always think it’s forever. I mean, you don’t go into a marriage thinking, this is okay until the real thing comes along, right?”
“True. Except when I married Lucas,” she quipped.
“But a lot of people do fall in love more than once in a lifetime,” he reminded her.
She waved his comment off. “I’m well over my quota.”

I wish he didn’t hypothetically say yes I know the point he was making but someone like Nicole gets false hope easy enough
