I understand Chloe not wanting to add to Philip's stress by making him feel guilty about staying with Victor. She's being understanding and as loving as possible. I think eventually she'll either crack and move in with him or she will tell him, but not now. He's still coping the best he could. That's what I think too. I’m glad Chloe didn’t show too much upset, that’s what her session was for to release it so she can be strong for Philip in his time of need She doesn’t need to add to his guilt and I think she’s doing great Agree! Thank you all for reading and taking the time to comment. For what it's worth, I would not fault Chloe for not telling Philip about her feelings right now. I think it would be selfish of her to add her issues to his overwhelming list of worries right now. He needs to focus on the tasks at hand. If Chloe had shared her feelings with Philip, readers might have taken issue with her for burdening him with her worries at a time like this. Onward. Ready for previews? Here's what you can expect in the week ahead. -Daniel overhears Nicole and Philip discussing a secret. -Philip and Chloe have similar recollections, miles apart. -Victor comes home and Maggie tells him what she really thinks. -Nicole finds Philip with another woman.

I'm curious about this secret. I'm sure Philip is not with another woman romantically but it sounds like there will be a huge misunderstanding.
As for Chloe, it would not have been hard for her to say "I really wish you could come home but I understand why you can't" rather than pretending she was 100% fine with it when she wasn't. That's a good way for resentment to fester and for her to explode on Philip at the worst possible time.

im interested to know what the story is with the other woman I’m sure it’s a misunderstanding I’m guessing Nicole is as nosy in this story and will stir up trouble without getting her facts right
As for Chloe she didn’t need to mention a thing Even something like I wish you could still puts unnecessary guilt on Philip If the situation was reversed Philip would be expected to stay strong so I don’t see why Chloe has to be needy in the slightest It’s just life sometimes it’s not always pretty but you roll with it She can tell Philip her feelings at a more appropriate time IMO

Another woman, eh? Looks like there’ll be a misunderstanding there. Curious about what this secret is.

The idea that honest communication. = weakness and lies = strength is so unhealthy and needs to be jettisoned. It doesn't matter the gender. Couples need honest communication and both people's needs are important. There will always be a reason that Chloe keeps her feelings to herself. It's an excuse because she is afraid to communicate. Eventually she will blow up and she and Philip will be estranged. Again. It's sad because it would be so easily avoidable by her adding three words to what she said that made it honest instead of a lie to preserve Philip's feelings.

heroicmuse I’m not denying communication My argument is time and place Having been in this exact situation myself I didn’t tell my husband how I was feeling during his dad’s sickness or his death because he needed me to be strong to get him through Sometimes it’s an unspoken communication that works too And I will add that we have a very healthy relationship thank you very much Eventually when he was ready to openly talk about stuff I was able to tell him and he appreciated that I waited So I maintain it’s not a time to make it about her feelings and I don’t think Chloe is wrong here and she’s human at the end of the day And if it was reversed same applies with Philip Sorry hun I luv ya but I just don’t agree with you

It seemed to me like Philip and Chloe's conversation was cut short by the traffic at the mansion. Hopefully they will have some more time later when Chloe can bring up some of the more uncomfortable issues. I don't think some topics are good when they have to be rushed.
I really hope she and Parker can come to Salem for a while. There's no reason they need to be a burden. The three of them are a family and I think they can all give each other some support.

Chapter 20
“Philip!”
Philip whirled around to see who was calling him. “Nicole. What are you doing here?”
“Me and Daniel are moving in,” she told him. Philip inadvertently wrinkled his nose. “That scrunched-up face you’re making tells me you had no idea.”
“I didn’t.”
“Well, as you might imagine, Maggie asked Daniel to help oversee Victor’s care.”
“You hate my father. Why would you want to live here?”
“Why do you think? I live with Daniel and where he goes, I go. Wither thou goest and all that.”
“I didn’t know you and Daniel were living together.”
“Seriously?”
He smiled a fake smile. “That’s what happens when you let your ‘People Magazine’ subscription expire.”
“I’m surprised Chloe didn’t mention it to you.” She looked around. “Speaking of the Mrs., where is she?”
“Chicago,” he mumbled without looking at her. He was focused on a couple of workers hauling an oxygen tank up the staircase, one step at a time.
“Chicago?? Well, I know Chloe doesn’t like Victor any better than I do, but why isn’t she here?”
Refocussing, Philip said, “I came on ahead to see the situation.”
“Okay. So, do you know the situation now?”
“Yes, of course.”
“So, where’s Chloe?”
He waved his hand dismissively. “There’s too much going on and Parker doesn’t need to be in the middle of all this.”
“You’re kidding me, right? You and Chloe are newlyweds. She should be here with you, especially now that she’s pregnant.”
Philip’s eyes widened. “You know?”
“Oh, keep your drawers on. Chloe didn’t tell me. I guessed.” When he squinted at her, Nicole said, “Okay, look. Last week at the wedding, I picked up on the telltale signs, like Chloe turning down a pre-wedding glass of champagne in favor of ginger ale, and her gown was getting tight in certain spots.” Nicole put her hands on her chest to demonstrate. “If you know what I mean.” She elbowed Philip. “Things like that.”
“Look, Nicole. We haven’t told Parker yet and no one else knows.”
“I know. I know. That’s what Chloe said.” She pretended to turn a lock on her lips and toss an imaginary key over her shoulder. “Your secret’s safe with me.” She punched Philip’s arm. “I’m really happy for you guys.”
“Did you tell Daniel?”
Folding her arms across her chest, she gave Philip a look. “I’m the best secret-keeper in all of Salem, and even though me and Daniel tell each other everything, this is one secret he doesn’t need to know.”
“What secret don’t I need to know,” Daniel asked as he entered the living room.
Nicole glanced at Philip, then back at Daniel. She approached Daniel and held his arm. “I was just telling Philip we’re moving into the mansion.”
“Do you have a problem with that?” Daniel asked, directing the question at Philip.
“If Maggie wants you here, then you should be here.”
Daniel turned his head toward Nicole. “You still haven’t told me the secret.”
“It’s not my secret, it’s Philip’s,” Nicole said. Looking at Philip, she added, “and he’ll tell us when he’s ready. Meanwhile, I’m going to go unpack.” She walked over to Philip and pressed her index finger into his chest. “Call Chloe and tell her to ditch Chicago and get her butt down here. This is where she belongs.”

I'm glad Nicole is on the side of Chloe coming down to Salem. Maybe then Chloe and Philip will have a chance at making it through this together.

I agree with Nicole on this. Philip’s comment about People Magazine was cute.

Even though I agree with Nicole, it didn’t make her any less obnoxious I find her so busy in everyone’s private business Julie 2.0 and not in a good way

Chloe and Nicole are friends. I'm glad that Nicole is being supportive of the secret and keeping tabs on how Chloe is doing, esp. through all of this.

Loved nicole, now thats the nicole i know (not whos on canvas atm ) Yes chloe get your butt over to salem, i think shes waiting on philip to ask her to come otherwise she would feel in the way right? (I would) Maybe if she does provide the support without him asking for it, that will give philip that nonverbal assurance I am here, better or for worse, you are not alone

I was right about the secret.
Chloe likely doesn't want to be in the way now that she found out Victor will be coming home in the next few days.
