FBI HEADQUARTERS, CHICAGO
Shane escorts Rafe and Carrie to the tech department of the FBI. In a small room off the main corridor, a young woman sits behind a laptop. She furiously taps away on the keys and stares intently at the screen. She pauses here and there to write information down on a legal pad next to her. She barely notices when Shane walks into the room.
SHANE: Agent Doyle? DOYLE: (Impatiently, not looking up) Yes? SHANE: I’ve brought the target. DOYLE: (Looks up) You have Hernandez? RAFE: Whoa. Target? What does that mean? SHANE: I’ll let her tell you. DOYLE: (To Rafe) You Hernandez? RAFE: (Hesitantly) Yes. DOYLE: (Gestures across the table) Have a seat. (Looks at Carrie) Is this the wife? CARRIE: Uh, no. The partner. DOYLE: Very well. Have a seat. RAFE: What did he mean by “the Target?” SHANE: We’ll get to that. Agent Doyle, why don’t you go ahead and tell Rafe what you’ve found? DOYLE: Very well. For a man with a great number of secrets, Gary was meticulous about keeping records. That works out well for us, but poorly for him. I’m confident that’s what ultimately got him killed. RAFE: That’s great, and all, but what does that have to do with me? DOYLE: I’m getting to that. A little background first though. Gary started with the FBI about 15 years ago. He was well respected and had an excellent record. Eight years ago, he joined the Organized Crime Bureau where he was assigned the de Luca family. He tracked their every move and kept very detailed notes about all of their suspected crimes. Somewhere along the line, Gary’s priorities got a little…skewed…and he tried to use his knowledge to help the de Lucas instead of taking them down. The Bureau was forced to fire him. He was lucky that he was only fired. After he was forced out, he went straight to the de Lucas and started working for them instead. Emily afforded him the ability to stick it to the Gravinas and help out an old friend. That would be you, Rafe. Emily settled into life in Atlanta and they were relatively happy, from what we can tell. RAFE: What about David? DOYLE: (Looks up at Shane) David? RAFE: Yes, David. Where is he? SHANE: (Puts a hand on Rafe’s shoulder) We didn’t find anything about a David. Who is he? RAFE: He’s my son! Emily said his name was David. (Angry now) Where is he?!?

Oh no... don't tell me that Emily and Gary lied about David. After everything that Rafe has been through, this is just too much!!

She barely notices when Shane walks into the room. Right off the bat, I don't trust Agent Doyle. Anyone who doesn't notice Shane has a major problem. The plot is getting really thick. Gary was not trustworthy. So where is David, or was he known by a different name? Ooh ooh ooh, I think David may be -----. I won't say it, in case I'm right.

DOYLE: I’m sorry, but Gary never mentions him anywhere. RAFE: (Turns to Carrie) How is that possible? CARRIE: Maybe he just didn’t think he was important enough to mention. I’m sure it doesn’t mean anything. RAFE: But, then, where is he? Atlanta? SHANE: We’ll see what we can find out. DOYLE: We know where her house was and we’ll get some agents over there ASAP. In the meantime, you should be careful while you’re in Chicago. RAFE: Careful? Me? Why? DOYLE: You are the target. RAFE: (Frustrated) You keep saying that. Target of what? DOYLE: Gary wrote that you were supposed to be killed yesterday with Emily. The Gravinas wanted Emily taken care of and all of her loose ends tied up. It’s currently unclear as to whether his death was an unfortunate accident, or if he didn’t realize he was the actual target. We just don’t know. RAFE: So you’re saying they could still be after me? SHANE: It’s something that we have to consider. Perhaps it would be better if you get back to Salem as soon as possible? RAFE: (Sarcastically) Because I’m so much safer there? CARRIE: At least you’d be on your home turf, so to speak. RAFE: But what do I do about David? (Turns to Shane) You have to find him. SHANE: We’ll put our best men on it, I promise. DOYLE: Go home, Mr. Hernandez. There’s nothing more you can do here. CARRIE: Come on. I’ll take you home. RAFE: (Miserably) Home is the last place I want to go right now. CARRIE: (To Shane and Doyle) Thank you so much for your help. Please keep us informed of your progress.
At that moment, another agent knockes on the door and passes an envelope to Doyle. She opens it and hands it to Rafe. DOYLE: It would appear you have some mail, sir. RAFE: (Takes envelope) Mail? DOYLE: Yes. It’s from Emily.

I still don't like Doyle. But this is a great story. I agree with Sportsgirl. Hopefully Emily thought ahead and gave Rafe the info he needs in order to find David.
