I’m still not quite sure what Brady’s doing there, and I don’t believe what he says about “it’s just where the wind blew him”. Also, not sure they should be talking about this in front of Parker.

Ugh, people have some sense and stop talking in this ridiculous manner in front of Parker.
The kid really wants to go to the lighthouse. Maybe they should have done that before dinner.

I'm glad Chloe changed the subject. This isn't a conversation to have in a restaurant in front of Parker.
I hope Parker gets to go in the lighthouse.
I wonder if Brady will admit his reasons for coming to Florida.

I don’t think Brady is being truthful either and I agree with heroicmuse about not in front of the kid Time and place and it’s neither

Chapter 5b
At home, after putting Parker to bed, Chloe stood at the doorway to her and Philip’s bedroom and folded her arms. Philip was just getting into bed. He smiled at her. “Parker was right. The lighthouse was closed by the time we finished eating. I guess we owe him one.” When Chloe said nothing, he asked, “Was Parker upset?”
“I’m the one who’s upset. Was that really necessary?” she asked.
“Was what necessary?” Philip asked as he adjusted the covers. “Not going up in the lighthouse before dinner?”
“Don’t play dumb,” she replied, walking further into the room. “I’m talking about the way you treated Brady.”
“The way I,” He ditched the pretense. “Okay, you’re right. But Brady needed to know I’m onto him.”
“What does that mean?”
“It’s obvious. He wants you back.”
“No he doesn’t.”
“Then why did he show up here of all places? Come on Chloe, deep down you know I’m right. He wants to take you away from me again.”
“The only person who can take me away from you is you,” she blurted.
Philip flinched. “And what does that mean?”
“It means you’re going to push me away with this behavior.” Her tone softened. “This isn’t you, Philip. You’re always a gentleman, except when you get around Brady.”
“I don’t like him,” Philip snapped.
“I don’t care,” Chloe shot back. “He’s my friend and he’s in my life. You don’t need to like him. You just need to be civil out of respect to me.”
“That’s a tall order.”
“Really? Then put yourself in my shoes. Imagine it was Belle.”
“Belle?” Philip was puzzled. “What has Belle got to do with this?”
“She was your first wife, just like Brady was my first husband. So, imagine if she came to visit and I was as rude to her as you were to Brady just because I’m jealous of your past relationship with her? Would that be okay with you?”
I didn’t want any company, least of all you. Philip’s mind replayed some of the things he said to Brady.
He squeezed his eyes shut, embarrassed by his childish behavior. Letting out a deep breath, he threw the covers back, got up, and went over to Chloe. “You’re right. You’re right, I acted like an ass. I let my insecurities get the best of me.” He cocked his head and lifted her chin to get her to look him in the eye. “I’m sorry, sweetheart.”
“Don’t apologize to me,” she pouted. “Apologize to Brady.”
The idea of apologizing to Brady turned Philip’s stomach. But if it was important to Chloe, he was willing to do it. Anything to keep the peace with the woman he loved. “I will. Next time I see him.”
Chloe smiled a small smile and leaned into Philip. “You know, you have nothing to be insecure about.”
He wrapped his arms around her and kissed her hair, hoping he wouldn’t have to see Brady any time soon.

I still think brady had a motive so I’m not sure Philip needs to apologize just yet Maybe he’s not after Chloe maybe he is but I don’t think he just popped in for a friendly visit and Chloe is really stupid if she believes that ..... just saying

Ok....a little real talk. Good. Chloe confronted Philip with a good example and Philip realized he was rude.
Now. What is Brady really up to and when does Parker get to go to the lighthouse? (And the kid should get some ice cream, too, since he had to wait to go to the lighthouse.)

There’s definitely more to Brady showing up than meets the eye. I think Chloe is just being willfully ignorant because it’s Brady.

I'm glad Chloe called Philip out on his behavior, and I'm glad she used Belle as an example to get him to understand, but I really wish she would have said that none of that should have happened in front of Parker and that Philip needs to apologize to Parker as well for his behavior. Brady may have an ulterior motive, but this never should have played out in front of Parker.

Chapter 6a
Parker giggled as he heaped another pailful of sand on top of Philip. By now, Philip was buried up to his neck.
Chloe snapped a picture with her phone’s camera. It was Sunday and the sun was high in the cloudless sky hanging over the glassy blue waters of the intercoastal. They didn’t get to the lighthouse, but when Philip asked the child whether he wanted to go to the lighthouse or the beach, it wasn’t even a contest. Parker had never been to a beach before moving to Marathon, and he took to the water like he was born here. And Philip was having just as much fun as Parker. The lighthouse would have to wait.
She took another picture, thinking this may be the best day since she came to Florida. She loved watching her two guys being carefree and enjoying each other’s company. “Not in his face, Parker,” Chloe instinctively reminded him, feeling the need to defend Philip while he couldn’t defend himself. “I think we should dig him out now, don’t you?”
“Wanna get out?” Parker asked Philip.
Philip wrinkled his nose. “Yeah, I guess maybe I’d better.”
“Mommy, help me unbury Uncle Phil.”
Chloe got on her knees beside Parker and they dug into the sand with their fingertips, pushing it out of the way like a dog looking for a buried bone. When there was enough open space, Chloe grasped one of Philip’s hands and Parker grasped the other, pulling him up out of the sandy ditch.
Parker screamed and pointed. “Your leg! Your leg! It’s still in the sand!” He pressed his face into Chloe’s bosom. “His leg fell off. His leg fell off.”

Oh bless his little heart! I just wanna grab him up and hold him now. I can hear his screams and it's breaking my heart. I hope this doesn't traumatize him too bad.
