OMG! Tear jerker scene for sure! I'm so glad that Parker is openly voicing his fears. No matter how small they may be. it will help him on the bigger ones later on. And I'm glad that Philip is able to explain it to him to help calm those fears and reassure him.

Chapter 26c


Chloe entered the bedroom carrying a tray. “Where’s Parker?” she asked.

“He went to answer some emails.” When Chloe raised her brows, he shrugged. “He told me he was going to catch up with some friends.”

“Oh, right. He has a closed circle of friends he can communicate with on his tablet. Here, I made you some chicken soup.” Chloe set the tray over Philip’s lap.

“Smells great." He stroked her hand. "I’m impressed with your balancing act.”

“You should see how much got spilled on the staircase,” she joked. She watched him take a spoonful. “Is it okay?”

“It’s fantastic. Thanks for taking care of me.”

“It’s my pleasure, truly.” She sat at the edge of the bed.

“Hey.” He tapped her hand. “Are you really okay with Parker calling me dad?”

“So he told you.” When Philip nodded, she said, “I’m more than okay with it. I know Parker will always love Daniel. He’ll never forget that Daniel was his father, but Daniel’s gone and Parker shouldn’t be deprived of the opportunity to have a father figure in his life — especially when that man is you, someone who loves Parker like he’s your own son. Someone he loves and respects. And the fact he initiated this and was able to express his feelings for you in a healthy way, I think it’s wonderful.”

“Good, I’m glad you feel that way. I’m glad Parker feels that way. I can’t even describe how incredible it makes me feel.”

She squeezed his hand. “Well you earned the title,” she said. “Philip? Do you remember I told you I met this nice older lady at the shelter? Her name is Helen and it turns out she’s a retired child psychologist and she still sees a few patients. She said she’d be happy to see Parker.”

“Wow. That’s amazing.”

“I think it was fate. I hadn’t even planned to go to a shelter and something potentially wonderful came out of it.” She abruptly stopped talking. “You started to tell me about Gwen. Can you tell me what she did?”

“Gwen. Yeah. She was into me, just like you said.” He sat up taller against the headboard. “I wasn’t in any shape to drive after the rescues, so she offered to drive me to the shelters to look for you, but she kept suggesting I come back to her place instead. She implied you weren’t right for me.”

Chloe’s chest burned with anger. “And I suppose she thinks she is.”

“Yeah. I told her she crossed a line. It’s my fault. I should have picked up on it sooner.”

“Don’t do that.” She covered his hand with hers. “You always want to see the best in people. It’s who you are. So, she seems a little unhinged. Do you think she’ll come after us? Harass us?”

“If she does, I’ll deal with her. Even if Dad and I aren’t speaking, I’m still a Kiriakis. I know how to get in touch with his henchmen.” He looked up at the ceiling and shook his head in disgust. “I’m sorry I ever suggested her to be Parker’s therapist.”

“Don’t be, honey. She did help Parker bring some emotions to the surface. Remember in the hospital I told you we didn’t go to Salem because we didn’t want to be so far away from you? That’s only part of the reason.” Philip raised his brows. “The plan was that I would to stay here and send Parker to Salem with Brady. But Parker freaked out. He was clinging to me the same way he does when I drop him off at school. He was afraid he’d never see me again. He said he was afraid I would die.”

“Geez. Poor kid.” He shook his head from side to side. “He lost one parent, so I guess it’s not surprising he’d be afraid to lose you too. Maybe that’s part of the reason he wants me to be his dad.”

“Possibly. At least, now he gets to feel whole, like he has two parents again. I’m going to mention it to Helen.”

“I think you’re on to something.” He put his hand on top of hers. “Hey, we need to make a solid hurricane plan for next time so we’re not winging it like this time.”

“I agree.”

“Which reminds me.” He hesitated for a moment. “Um. Did Brady make it back to Salem okay?”

Sounds like a good start on communication here. I still think they both have a long way to go on this tho. I wonder if Helen might do a little couples therapy for them.

Curious as to why Philip is asking about Brady tho. I figured that would be one of the last things on his mind.
