I"m glad Chloe is taking this time to self-reflect. Hopefully, everyone will make it out all right and then she and Philip can resolve some things.

I'm glad that Helen seems to just be a kind, gentle soul riding out the rough weather.
No relationship is perfect. But the problem is that what Chloe and Philip have is not healthy. She's sitting here hoping that he would grow out of things and trying to justify her relationship and Brady isn't even there. The problems here aren't their abandonment and insecurity issues. The bigger problem is their lack of communication. Both of them have built up this fantasy world for just them and the moment something doesn't go as planned, they tuck tail and run and assume the worst. If they would communicate with each other instead of hiding stuff, keeping it in, or going behind the other's back, then none of this would really be an issue. They would still have their problems, but this whole jumping ship thing they have going would stop. And it would make it a more healthy and stable place for Parker as well. The poor kid lost his dad, has been through more than any child his age should, he's afraid of losing his mom, and he's scared to death that Philip doesn't want him. I think a lot of his fears have come from not having that stable environment and he's projecting their fears as well. Philip and Chloe both need to own up to their parts in this mess and get to couples therapy so they can work through these issues and either part ways or stay together. NONE of them can continue to do this and be happy.

Chapter 23c
Somewhere Off the Coast of Key West
He’d been undergoing intense training in preparation for this moment for nearly a year. In a pool. During a simulation. In the safety of the Coast Guard facility.
The conditioning process was as much mental as physical. You were taught to confront your fears, face them, and get past them. As a Marine, Philip had already been through the toughest training there was, next to the Navy Seals, that is.
And Philip was a strong swimmer, even with his prosthetic, but the Coast Guard rescue trainers made it tough by fighting his attempts to rescue them, like a real-life rescue victim might do. It was probably the reason Philip started having nightmares about being in the middle of the ocean with bombs exploding all around him. There were moments during training when Philip felt like he was drowning, but pushing past his fears, he always knew he’d get through it.
Today was different. This was no simulation. This was the real thing.
Wearing his wet suit, goggles and an oxygen tank strapped to his back, and tethered to a guide wire, Philip clung tight to the cable as it swung freely from the helicopter above him. The hurricane force winds were batting him around like a fly. The driving rain pounding his face was not only making it hard to see, it was making it hard to grip the cable.
Looking down at the raging sea as it got closer and closer, he was beginning to wonder why he signed up for the gig. In just a minute, he was going to have to jump into the water. It reminded him of his combat missions in Afghanistan. Would he make it back alive? Would he ever see Chloe and Parker again? Would his parents even care?
As a Marine, he was supposed to be mentally and physically tough, strong, brave, courageous, fearless. Hell, he survived wars, being held hostage, losing a leg, having his heart broken. But right now, his heart was pounding like never before.
Because right now, he was facing the fiercest enemy of all. Nature. Hurricane winds. Raging seas. And nature always wins.
Normally, the Coast Guard would wait until after the storm passed, but they received an SOS from a small craft that capsized in the storm. A couple and their teenage son went overboard, and if the Coast Guard waited, this would not be a search and rescue mission. It would be search and recovery. Even though Philip was just a reservist, everyone was called into service. With a Category 3 hurricane moving at a forward speed of 12 miles an hour with gusts up to 140 mph, it was all hands on deck. Another guardsman was already down there and running into trouble. It was up to Philip to get those boaters out alive.
He said a quick prayer before releasing the cable and plunging into the water.

I loved the insight into Philip's mental condition and seeing what he is up to.
I hope he is able to help rescue this family without ending up in the hospital himself.

Chapter 23d
Shelter in Marathon, FL
Chloe recalled Brady saying, “I’ll never really understand your relationship with Philip.” Okay, so things weren’t perfect between her and Philip. They had issues they needed to work on, like any couple does. Certainly, she felt bad that Brady got caught in the middle of her and Philip’s drama, but Brady didn’t walk in her shoes and he didn’t live in their home so he couldn’t know the depth of what she and Philip had.
Sure, it had taken her a while to get used to life in Florida, but she learned to like it. She liked the life she and Philip created. They took care of each other and she loved how much he loved her son. But then, she got restless to return to singing and Parker started having panic attacks. And Brady showed up in Marathon.
She sighed, feeling guilty about how hard she had been on Philip. He was a good man. Kind, protective, and such a romantic. One day last fall, Philip was relaxing on the sofa reading The Great Gatsby when he said, “It just dawned on me that we haven’t been on a real date since you came to Florida.”
Chloe stopped folding laundry to think about that statement. Philip was right. After what happened with Deimos trying to kill them, neither of them felt comfortable leaving Parker with a stranger. She knew she’d need to find a trustworthy babysitter eventually, but it hadn’t been a priority yet. “Actually, I don’t think we’ve been on a real date since 2008,” she replied.
Philip set the book down, got up off the couch and approached her. “I hate to say it, but I think you’re right. How crazy is that?”
“That’s way too long.” Smiling flirtatiously, she rested her hands on his shoulders and said, “So, what are we going to do about it, Soldier?”
“I have some ideas,” he said before kissing her.
“Mmm. I bet you do,” she replied. She gazed toward the terrace door. “I have an idea too. After Parker goes to bed tonight, why don’t we have a late supper out on the terrace?”
He glanced toward the glass doors. Looking back at her, he pulled her closer. “It’s a date.”
So, that evening, Philip set up a table for two outside on the terrace, complete with a white tablecloth, candles, white roses, and red wine. Soft music wafted from the Bose in the living room. Chloe whipped up a pasta dish with meat sauce, no garlic.
He reached for her hand across this table. “We should do this more often,” he said softly.
Playing with his fingers, she said, “I’ve missed this. I feel like we’ve lost so much time.”
“Shhh. We’ve got the rest of our lives to make up for it.” He cocked his head. “Dance with me.” He set his napkin on the table and walked to her side of the table. When he held up his palms, she slid her hands into his and he pulled her close. She looked deeply into his eyes as he began singing along with the song that was playing on the CD player inside.

That was a nice flashback. And great song choice!
I'm glad Chloe realizes that she and Philip are solid despite their problems. The last thing she needs is Brady causing trouble.

I hope she's not laying her restlessness and Parker's panic attacks on Brady. I know him showing up in Marathon didn't help their problems, but it sure didn't cause them either. I absolutely cannot say this enough - these two need better communication when times are tough, not just when things are going good.
