Parker is just too cute but his session was so sad. Philip will always be Parker’s father as far as I’m concerned. Loving this story keep them coming!

Hi readers. Thank you so much for reading, commenting, and for your continued interest in this story. I was hoping I could get back to my old posting schedule of daily or even every other day, but work has not let up and it is sapping much of my creative energy. I have a trillion ideas. They are just not “on paper” yet. So I appreciate you sticking with me and the story. xox
Meanwhile, here’s a little teaser for you to chew on. Coming up in the next installment …
Chloe looked up from her phone when she heard the door to Gwen's office open. In a nanosecond, Parker was holding onto her neck. Her heart began beating harder as she held him tight against her. “Angel, what is it? What’s wrong?”

I wonder will Chloe be giving Gwen another chance? This would be a great time for a George appearance...... just saying

I see Chloe quickly jumping to the wrong conclusion and refusing to take Parker back to Gwen.

Chapter 12d
Chloe looked up from her phone when she heard the door open. In a nanosecond, Parker was holding onto her neck. Her heart began beating harder as she held him tight against her. “Angel, what is it? What’s wrong?”
Gwen followed Parker into the outer office. She motioned for Chloe to calm down. “Everything is fine,” Gwen assured her. “First sessions are sometimes hard because everything is so new and unfamiliar.” Chloe looked at her like she was crazy. “He’s fine, I promise. Some new emotions came to the surface, and he wasn’t prepared for them. Can we talk alone for a minute?”
Chloe leaned away from Parker. “Angel, I’m going to go talk to Gwen for a minute.” She patted the spot on the sofa next to her. “Come sit.” Then she tapped a few keys on her phone. “Here. You can watch the Muppet Movie until I get back. I won’t be long.”
She got up and went into Gwen’s office. “What the hell happened,” Chloe asked. She didn’t mean to sound so harsh, but she didn’t like what was going on, not one bit.
“Like I said, he’s fine.” Gwen motioned to a chair, indicating that Chloe should take a seat, but Chloe wanted to maintain the appearance of strength, so she preferred to stand. “I can’t share everything that happened here, but I can tell you Parker’s a little confused. His father’s death weighs on him, and he’s worried about you.”
“Me?”
“Are you ill? I’m sorry, is that too personal?”
“No. I’m not ill. I had a stroke about a year and a half ago. Maybe that’s what he’s thinking about. But … I didn’t realize he was still so disturbed about Daniel’s death. It’s been four years.” She began to ramble. “I’ve done everything I can to create a normal life. I haven’t always done a great job, but things are different now that Philip is in Parker’s life.”
“Yes, about that,” Gwen said, a little hesitantly. “I’m not sure Parker is as comfortable as you may think, having another man replace his father.”
Chloe’s jaw dropped, stunned that anyone could even suggest that. She tried to control her fury, but it seemed to Chloe that Gwen had just crossed a line. She quickly took her purse off her shoulder and pulled out her checkbook. “What do I owe you?”

I think Gwen jumped the gun on the whole Philip replacing Daniel piece but other than that what she said sounded on the up and up. And yes, first sessions can be a little rough because you are asking a child to open up to a stranger.
Chloe refusing to sit and discuss things was purely defensive and shows that she wasn't quite ready to fully hear what was being said and was ready to run. It's hard to hear another person, a stranger, talk about things regarding your child that you have no knowledge of. Especially when it contradicts something you done. You want to hear from a therapist that you've done everything right so to hear that you might have missed something is hard. Doesn't make her comment about Philip right, but it also doesn't make it ok to just run either.
I hope Gwen gets a second session with Parker. Maybe having Philip there for the next consult after the session would be better.

I kinda figured Gwen would pull something like this She clearly has interest in Philip and is using Parker to get to him Very unethical and I don’t blame Chloe for leaving I can understand her not wanting to sit because Parker came out the way he did Yes new emotions and first sessions blah blah but she also had a picture in her mind of getting him help to feel better and only a few minutes in a session Parker seemed worse Maybe Gwen should have prepared Chloe for that part before she spoke with Parker and Chloe night have remained calm..... at least until the comment about Philip anyways

I’d say Gwen definitely crossed the line! Hopefully Chloe will convince Philip not to take Parker to see her again.

That was a bit of a leap, but on the whole I thought Gwen was professional, and exploring all the things that could be making Parker anxious is an important aspect of therapy. Hopefully Gwen isn't letting her feelings for Philip, whatever they are, interfere with her judgment here.

Chloe clearly didn't expect to hear any of that from Gwen. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next.

Chapter 12e
“Yes, about that,” Gwen said, a little hesitantly. “I’m not sure Parker is as comfortable as you may think, having another man replace his father.”
Chloe’s jaw dropped, stunned that anyone could even suggest that. She tried to control her fury, but it seemed to Chloe that Gwen had just crossed a line. She quickly took her purse off her shoulder and pulled out her checkbook. “What do I owe you?”
“It’s $300 for three sessions,” Gwen replied.
“And for one session?” She leaned on Gwen’s desk and started writing out a check.
Gwen placed her hand on Chloe’s arm. “I’m sorry if I overstepped. That wasn’t my intention. I was only speaking from experience. The children I’ve worked with who lost a parent are often resentful when a new male or female adult comes into their life. Because they can’t express it well, they tend to act out or behave in a way that’s out of character.”
“Philip isn’t a new adult male in Parker’s life,” Chloe said through clenched teeth. “Parker and Philip have a history. They have a special connection. And if you’d ever seen the two of them together, you’d never say that. Parker adores Philip and Philip adores Parker.”
“Well, that’s good to know,” Gwen stated. “I do think Parker should come back, though. We got further today than even I expected, and that tells me he’s eager to talk to someone about the things that are bothering him.”
Chloe softened a little. She knew Gwen was right about that. Still Chloe couldn’t decide if she thought Gwen was full of bull or if she was sincere.

I don’t believe for a second that Gwen is sincere, especially with some of those comments she made earlier.

I don’t believe for a second that Gwen is sincere, especially with some of those comments she made earlier. I agree She’s back tracking a lot now to keep them coming in but I’m not sure that Parker is her sincere interest Especially since his reaction if it is normal should have been explained to Chloe prior I found that really unprofessional and I think just because she’s a therapist it doesn’t mean she should be his therapist They should find someone they are all comfortable with
