Chapter 14
THE SEA
Jan lying in the middle of the sea. Everything goes black.
BEACH
Jan lying on a beach. A woman with read hair and a man walk up to her body.
FAUXLIVIA: It looks like another crossover.
Fade to black.
HOSPITAL
Jan is lying on a hospital bed. She opens her eyes and looks around. She sees William.
JAN: Dr. Bell?
WILLIAM: Good morning, Jan.
JAN: Where am I?
At that moment, Shawn-D walked in.
SHAWN-D: Oh my god! Jan! I can't believe it! You're alive!
Jan and Shawn-D kiss.
SHAWN-D: Wait a minute...you're not Jan! Dr. Paris, you said that Jan was in this room. Who the hell is this?
WILLIAM: Calm yourself, Shawn. You will come to find that this is, indeed, Jan.
SHAWN-D: How are you gonna stand there and tell me that?
WILLIAM: Three years ago, when Lexie pronounced Jan dead, I still had my suspicions. So, I did some tests. She was not dead, but in a coma. The accident had scarred her face beyond all recognition. We tried to do some plastic surgery, but the surgeon we hired, Dr. Daniel Jonas was...horrible at best. We can still do some corrective surgeries. I, myself, have received a degree in plastic surgery. Now, I'm going to need a moment alone with Jan, please.
Shawn-D walked out of the room.
JAN: Dr. Bell, what's going on? Why doesn't Shawn recognize me? Where am I?
WILLIAM: You're in an alternate universe, Jan. A universe that is similar to our own, but with some slight differences. You had plastic surgery when you were in high school, didn't you, Jan?
JAN: Yeah. I made myself look like an actress named Heather Olsen.
WILLIAM: Well, the Jan Spears of this universe never had plastic surgery. She looked the same as she did in high school for her entire life. Also, the Jan over here wasn't insane. She eventually got married to Shawn and had a daughter named Shauna. And, three years ago, the Jan of this universe died in a car accident.
JAN: So...where do we go from here?
WILLIAM: As life didn't work out for you in your original universe, I'm hoping that it will work out in this one. Because several things happened to the Shawn and Jan of this universe that never happened to you, we're going to say that the accident gave you amnesia. I'll fill you in on the important dates and times as you go along.
JAN: I want plastic surgery. I wanna go back to looking like the person I was at the beginning of high school.
WILLIAM: I understand. But, are you sure you're doing this for the right reasons?
JAN: I've finally found a universe where I can have Shawn without resorting to drastic measures. I can be myself around this Shawn. In fact, this version of Shawn loves me. If going back to what I used to look like is what it takes, then I'll do it.
Shawn-D walked in.
SHAWN-D: No, don't.
