Wow! Shawn in Wales and working with Trains..... I love how you have managed to encorporate the trains from Thomas the Train in this!!! I will say tho that you kept throwing me off base by calling Sir Handel Sir Handyn. And I may be wrong about this, but isn't Douglas supposed to be black with a twin names Donald? Or is this different train named Douglas? Sorry, my oldest was a Thomas the train fanatic

Sir Handel is based on a real engine in Wales which has the name Sir Haydn. There are occasions when Sir Haydn's railway will dress him up as Sir Handel. On this same railway, there is another engine named Douglas. I'll try to post a pic of the Douglas from that one Welsh railway soon.
Glad you're all enjoying the story.

Chapter 5 WORKSHOP JAN: Shawn? SHAWN-D: Hi, Jan. So, it's only taken you a week or two to find me. What took you so long? JAN: Believe it or not, Shawn, I wasn't trying to find you. I just...I needed to get out of Salem. Wales seemed like the best place to go. SHAWN-D: Sure it did. The fact that I told you that Belle and I were living here when I saw you at our high school reunion has nothing to do with it, I'm sure. JAN: Believe what you want, Shawn. SHAWN-D: What are you doing here? JAN: I told you, I needed to get out of Salem. I tried living in New York but...some things happened there and I couldn't stay any longer, either. I came here to try and make a new start, I guess. I found this place. Sure, it's not the greatest job, but I like it. SHAWN-D: You know that this job doesn't pay, right? JAN: Yeah, I figured that out on my second day. I've got a part-time paying job waitressing. SHAWN-D: Oh, where at? JAN: Walker's. SHAWN-D: Good place. They do a great fish and chips. JAN: Yeah. SHAWN-D: So...how's J.T.? You and him still dating? JAN: You knew? SHAWN-D: Yeah, my mom called and told me that Tobias was really J.T. JAN: No, I mean you knew that he and I were dating? SHAWN-D: Yeah. Everybody at the reunion knew. So, how is he? JAN: I don't know. Fine, I guess. I haven't talked to him much lately. SHAWN-D: So, you two aren't going out anymore? JAN: Nope. Me leaving Salem kinda put a stop to that. SHAWN-D: I'm sorry. Believe it or not, Jan, I do want you to be happy. JAN: Thanks. SHAWN-D: Say, do you wanna have lunch with me? JAN: Are you sure that's a good idea? SHAWN-D: Yeah. What Belle doesn't know won't hurt her. Besides, we're just gonna be eating lunch and talking together. And, you look like you haven't eaten all day. JAN: Not since yesterday morning. SHAWN-D: Well, then, we need to get you some food. Come on.

Wow! Shawn may be in Wales but he sure had a dose of the Salem Juice today!!
Thanks for the background on the trains Andre!! I know the Thomas series was written by British man and his son based from stories of personal experience that the father told his son and the series grew from there.
Great story!

Chapter 6 CAFE JAN (VO, narrating): Shawn and I went to the King's Licensed Café and Bistro at Tywyn Wharf. He had a baguette, I had a panini. We both had an order of fries, or as they call it in the UK, chips. It was, surprisingly, good. We made small talk. I told him how long I had been working in the workshops, which I had only started a few days ago. He talked about how Claire was. I didn't even know he had a daughter. Then, he got to the one subject I hoped we wouldn't get to. SHAWN-D: So, what's this about you not eating since yesterday morning? JAN: It's nothing. It doesn't matter. SHAWN-D: Jan, it obviously does matter. What's wrong? JAN: I just having felt like eating, I guess. SHAWN-D: There's more to it than that. What aren't you telling me? What happened to you? JAN: It doesn't matter. SHAWN-D: It obviously does. Whatever happened has stopped you from wanting to eat, and that's not good. You can't just stop eating, Jan. JAN: Shawn, I'm fine. Don't worry about me. I don't want you to get involved! SHAWN-D: Well, why not? JAN: Because, then the cycle will start all over again! SHAWN-D: What cycle? JAN: The cycle that always happens between you and me. I'll dump all of my garbage on you. You'll end up feeling sorry for me. You'll abandon Belle to be with me, to try and help me, because you're a nice guy. I'll take advantage of that. You'll end up either resenting me or leaving me. And, I don't want that to happen again. I can't take you away from Belle and your beautiful daughter, Claire. I love you too much to put you through all of that. Maybe the old me was all right with doing that to you, but the new me isn't. I've changed. Trust me, Shawn, you'll be much better off without getting into what my problems are. I got myself into this mess, I'll get myself out. SHAWN-D: Jan, Belle and I have been happily married for over five years now. Nothing is going to come between us. Especially not you. Besides, we're friends. Or, at least, we used to be. And, I'd like to be friends with you again. You can tell me anything, you know that. Jan stood up. JAN: I need to get out of here. Jan turned and walked out of the café. SHAWN-D: Jan, wait.
