Thanks for bearing with me during a tough week, everyone. Here are previews for next week.
Victor is immovable.
Philip makes his decision.
He prepares to break the news to Chloe, but is reluctant to tell her the whole truth.

Chapter 7b
“My intention was to step back and hand the reins over to my heir. Ideally, it would be my son, but not if he continues to show the same poor judgment he showed when he proposed to her and the world — including me — had the unfortunate experience of seeing the whole thing on Facebook.” He looked Philip in the eye. “If you go through with your plans to marry Chloe, you’ll lose everything you’ve worked for all your life.”
Philip shook his head from side to side, thinking of how what he’s worked all his life for was to live happily ever after with Chloe, not to run Titan. “I’m so naive sometimes,” he mumbled under his breath. “And to think I’d been considering asking you to be my best man when I marry Chloe.” Philip laughed bitterly. “So, let me get this straight. These past few months you’ve been sitting in your ivory tower, rubbing your hands together, thinking up ways to get me and Chloe to break up. Have I got that right? And if so, is this the best you could do?” Victor stared out the window and didn’t answer. “You should really find something better to do with your time.” He pointed toward the conference room door. “You can go now. You’ve achieved your objective. I’ll cede my role to Brady. But before I do, I have one question for you. What father treats his son the way you’ve treated me my whole life?”
“Any father who wants to give his son a strong moral compass,” he said without emotion, “which that witch has clearly taken away from you—likely years ago.”
Philip held his hand to his forehead and shook his head from side to side. “I know I’m never going to get your approval and, at this stage of my life, I’ve quit trying. It doesn’t matter to me anymore. The one I’m really sad for is you, because you’re going to go to your grave being a bitter manipulative curmudgeon who alienated the only son he ever raised. Think about that for a while, Dad.”
Philip walked past his father and reached for the doorknob. “I’ll start working on a transition plan tomorrow. I want to set Brady up for success. Everyone at Titan Media’s worked really hard and they deserve—” The words choked in his throat and he couldn’t finish. He opened the door and left the conference room. The door slammed behind him, causing the windows to rattle.

Good for Philip for standing up for his morals.

Philip would have been totally justified in walking out the door right then and never looking back. Instead, he's acting like a leader and looking out for his employees AND his replacement. If that doesn't tell Victor that Philip is the right person to take over Titan AND a much better person that he has ever given Philip credit for being....then Victor deserves what he gets for his shortsightedness and stubbornness.

The way Philip said victor had been plotting for the past few months makes me wonder if he hired Monica to kidnap Parker I'd like to think victor isn't that cruel to have his own grandson kidnapped but I am not entirely sure

I was wondering the same thing doolfan4life. I'm with everyone else. I'm glad Philip stood up to Victor, and this is really Victor's loss.

I liked Philip speaking his mind. He is acting like a true leader. I can hardly wait to see what happens next.

Chapter 8a
Philip marched into his office and slammed the door. He immediately regretted doing that. Even though it was almost 5:00, Titan was one of those companies that didn’t empty out at the stroke of 5:00. There were always more than a few dedicated workers who stayed after hours, even though they weren’t required to, and everyone on the floor didn’t need to know he was fuming. … Hell, what’s the difference, he thought to himself. They’ll find out soon enough.
He went to his desk but didn’t sit down. He was too antsy. Leaning his palms on the surface, his eyes fell on a framed picture of the three of them—him, Chloe and Parker—riding one of those little trains that drives you from one end of the mall to the other. There was pure joy on all three faces. He picked up the photo. “Sorry, I let you down, guys,” he said, rubbing the picture with his thumb.
He set the photo down and looked at the time display on his laptop screen. Daycare would be letting out soon, and he just wasn’t up to putting on a fake smile for Parker. He was about to dial Chloe’s extension, but she beat him to it. He picked up the phone and held it to his ear, making sure the speakerphone was off.
“Hi handsome,” her voice came through the phone. “How’d it go with your father?”
“Could you come up here a minute?” he said quietly, wondering if she could hear the tremor in his voice.
“I’m just finishing up some emails, but I’ll come by in a bit.”
“I mean now,” Philip said, in a deathly serious tone. “I need you.”
The line was silent for a moment. “I’ll be right there,” Chloe told him. “I just need to stop into Daycare and ask Lucinda if she can keep Parker there for a little while longer.”

Hopefully Chloe supports him right now when he needs it The last thing he needs is her adding to it

I think Philip would be letting Chloe and Parker down if he stayed someplace where he clearly wouldn't be happy. Now he can work for a company that will appreciate him or start one of his own... I like that Philip's instinct was to call Chloe instead of finding someone else to share his feelings with. I think that's a good sign for their future.
