Chapter 29a
Philip took the microphone from Victor and clinked a fork against a wine glass on that table to get everyone’s attention. Then he went to the center of the dance floor.
“Everyone, please go ahead and sit down and start on your first course.” Chloe looked at him quizzically from their table. She didn’t know he was planning to make a speech. “Is everyone having a good time so far?” There were shouts of “yeah” and applause throughout the room. “I know I am,” he laughed. Then he grew serious and placed his hand to his chest and looked over at Chloe. “People say their wedding day is the best day of our lives, but I believe it’s only the start. The best is yet to come.” Chloe nodded at him and he turned toward the guests. “What did you all think of the vows we sang to each other?” That question drew more applause and cat calls.
“Well, here’s something you may not know. Chloe had to coerce me into singing. I mean she had to do a lot of convincing. We bargained hard,” he said with a wink. “Sorry, sweetheart. But now that it’s done, I’m glad we did it, because it reminded me of how singing to Chloe helped me woo her eighteen years ago. Some of you may remember that one of the first romantic gestures I ever made to Chloe was serenading her outside her bedroom window when we were sixteen years old.”
He turned and addressed Nicole. “And yes, Nicole, I remember very well your part in that plan, so thank you for your sage advice. I wooed her with a song then, but it took a long time for me to win her.” He gazed at Chloe for a long moment. “Hey, but it worked. It worked so well, in fact, that here we are at our wedding, a mere eighteen years later.” Laughter trickled throughout the room. “I should probably get to the point, shouldn’t I? While we were planning our vows, I got to thinking … And I got to writing. … And I wrote a song. It’s kind of simple, but heartfelt.”
While he was speaking, the string quartet’s guitarist strolled over and sat down on a stool in the center of the dance floor. Chloe’s eyes widened.

Philip clearly surprised Chloe. I'm looking forward to the song and her reaction.
I suspect some of the guests didn't know about Philip serenading Chloe outside her window.

Chapter 29b
"While we were planning to sing our vows, I got to thinking,” Philip said, “… And I got to writing. … And I wrote a song. It’s kind of simple, but heartfelt.”
As Philip was speaking, the string quartet’s guitarist strolled over and sat down on a stool in the center of the dance floor. Chloe’s eyes widened.
Philip approached Chloe and kissed her hand. Holding the microphone to his lips, he said, “Please excuse my untrained vocals, everyone.” He released Chloe’s hand and smiled. “This is for you, Mrs. Kiriakis. For us. It’s the story of my life.”
Please click to watch and listen to the song Philip sings.
Song written and sung by Philip with lipsyncing by Neil Diamond.
